2011 – 2015 Handy Man/General Site Operative for various companies including
Bouygues, Barratt Homes, Kier etc.
Practical Skills Gained:
Health and Safety skills; compliance to strict H&S procedures on site in areas such as mounting
and dismantling tower scaffolds, using tools and equipment general H&S awareness skills on
construction sites.
Time management skills in planning execution of individual task, and meeting deadlines
Team working skills through tasks like bitumen paving, preparation bases, sub bases
Following correct procedures; for example, hoist operation, demolition works, using tools and

MEng Civil Engineering
Completed a project on steel stress over strain testing. The objective was to determine the tensile
strength properties of steel, to understand the stress over strain relationship in steels and to
establish its conformance to Hooke’s Law. To finalise the project was to prepare a technical report
to discuss the findings obtained.
Completed engineering surveying project aimed at acquiring the practical skills in surveying.
Areas covered were: setting up an automatic level, two peg testing, measuring and process height
data and citing reference and using appropriate standards.

BEng Engineering Technology Level 3
Completed a project on designing, producing a prototype and the construction of the self-propelled car,
which must be to travel on it’s on to a distance of 2m and be able to stop. In addition, technical report
was produced to capture the entire project, from the design stage to the completion.
