The Sharing Of Social Media
Introduction With the advent of social media, the sharing economy has become one of the biggest
stories of this past decade. The sharing economy can be defined as the collaborative sharing of
resources to be used for consumption, with the 'sharing' of goods and services being exchanged for a
profit. Interest in the sharing economy has surged with the emergence of highly popular peer–to–
peer marketplaces like Uber or Airbnb. It provides a whole new way for individuals to use
underused or unused resources to find new profit opportunities. Under–utilized goods can have
value based on a rental price depending on the market. These firms only provide a cloud–based
application that is used as a marketplace for people to share their goods and services. It has become
an attractive business model for those looking to make more income with more flexibility. As
demonstrated with Uber, regular consumers are able to use their own vehicles to provide
transportation services to others. Airbnb users are able to provide any available un–utilized space
from their own homes to visitors who need a place to say. Furthermore, these platforms allow for
regular consumers to also become the suppliers, depending on their own assets. Because the
marginal cost of supplying these goods is little–to–none, these services are often priced at much
lower rates. This makes the sharing economy model very attractive as an alternative to other
established business models. However, the sudden rise of such a

Government Interventions are Failing
Introduction Around the world, governments, mostly intervenes in the market in order to accomplish
their policy objectives. The government's policy objectives or goals could be related to economics,
ranging from stabilization of prices, export promoting, encourage equal distributions for income and
commodity protection. The examples as per above proves that government intervention is not only
limited to economic effects but also influences the society. There are two (2) types of usual
regulated government interventions, which are automatic and discretionary. Automatic can be
defined as intervention which is based on rules and regulations. On the other side, government
interventions which are discretionary mostly targets stopping, suspension or limitation of a certain
contract market. An early review of government market interventions shows that discretionary based
interventions usually fails in accomplishing targeted policy objective compared to interventions
based on rules as the latter proves to be more successful in a market economy. At the same time,
discretionary interventions give results that are undesired and this could be quite damaging to the
government. The harmfulness in this aspect can be defined as total impact on those involved in
either marketing or producing commodities.
Government Intervention in the Markets Some of the reasons which cause government interventions
are in order to overcome market failure, to accomplish an equal distribution

Analysis Of The Article ' New Avon Ceo Vows
Article Summary
In the article, "New Avon CEO vows to restore the 126–year–old beauty company to former glory,"
Jenna Goudreau (2013) interviews Avon CEO, Sheri McCoy, on the current issues facing Avon
Products around the world and the results of management transitions in the company.
Over the past few years, Avon's stock and net income has declined as a result of misplaced focus in
different areas throughout the company. Under the former CEO, Andrea Jung, the company had an
internal focus, was expanding too fast, and failed to recognize the needs of consumers in different
markets. Under the new CEO, Avon is improving by focusing more on sales representatives, cutting
jobs, reducing spending, and pulling out of failing markets. Additionally, they are incorporating
information systems and social media as selling tools, catering to individual markets, and foregoing
other growth areas until the core business is stable. With these improvements, Avon expects that it
will see a turnaround in the coming years.

Marketing and Heineken

Heineken Case Study Questions
Put yourself in the role of the Global VP of Marketing at Heineken. You have different marketing
teams evaluating the Heineken's global brand positioning. Your objective is to recommend to the
CEO how you should proceed with your global brand efforts.
1. What are Heineken's strengths and weaknesses? Is Heineken a global brand? Why or why not?
What are the characteristics of a global brand? What competitive and cultural barriers does the
Heineken brand face?
A global brand is one which customizes product features and selling techniques to local tastes so
that consumers in different locations and under different socio–cultural constructs (or, in this case,
also under different development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. What should be the role of Heineken headquarters regarding the marketing of the brand
worldwide? What's the balance of central or local control that makes the most sense?
There should be some standardization of imagery, consistency of look & feel of media, and of brand
feeling/personality in the overall message. However, there should be local autonomy in customizing
slogans, catchy phrases/print materials, promos etc. based on what makes sense to the local culture
and at that phase of their "evolution."
6. What do you recommend to your CEO about standardizing the brand's global image? Do you
have enough information? If not, what are you missing to provide a concrete recommendation?
Contradictory enough, standardization of the brand's global image needs to be accomplished via the
localization / customization of the bigger & broader principal concept/image/feeling/personality.
Once established that Heineken stands for ABC (#4 above,) the way to get the message across in the
different markets will differ. Consumers in the Netherlands respond differently to those in Germany,
let alone to those in Africa.
However, we're missing key info about each region's "valuation" of beer consumption as compared

Investigate the Behaviour of Organisations and the Market...
Introduction
In this assignment I will identify the structure of markets within the economy and explain how they
deviate from the model of perfect competition. I will also expand on which market forces dominate
the market place, identifying the organisational responses to demand including the adoption of
competitive strategies within the free market. Finally I will explain the role of the competition
commission and regulatory bodies.
Market Types
The most important factor within any market is the number of rivals competing for a share of the
business. Competition, as described by Stigler, G (2008) arises whenever two or more parties strive
for something that all cannot obtain. Perfect competition is seen as a theoretical ideal and ... Show

Market forces
Market forces are primarily concerned with the supply of and demand for goods and services within
the free market. The demand for a good can be influenced by many factors such as price, available
substitutes and a person's income. Price can be one of the primary forces when looking at the
demand for a product, it does however have limitations. Demand may not necessarily rise if the
price drops below a certain level, people will automatically assume an inferior product and not
purchase it. Similarly if a product that is essential to the consumer is priced higher the demand may
not decrease, petrol is a good example of this. In order for us to predict how much someone is
willing to buy at a given price, we must first create a demand schedule, which can be represented as
a demand curve. (Fig 1.)
Fig 1.
It is apparent that as the price of an item increases, the quantity demanded reduces. This is an over
simplification as there are many non price factors affecting demand. The Ceteris paribus clause can
best used to describe this method of analysis.
Non price factors affecting demand
Product substitution occurs when the demand for one product affects the demand of another.
Although price can influence peoples decision to buy a substitute, personal taste, brand loyalty and
demography can influence decisions often more persuasively than price. People's income can also
affect their purchasing habits, often increasing their

Expanding Social Media Into the Chinese Market Essay
Twitter is expanding its social media business into China. This report seeks to describe the potential
problems of this expansion by analyzing Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft's mistakes after attempting
to enter the Chinese market in 2006.
According to Amnesty International (AI), an international human rights organization, the Chinese
government has been violating the "fundamental human rights" of its citizens, and Google, Yahoo!,
and Microsoft have been "complicit." AI defines these human rights as being inalienable for all
human beings. By this definition, AI believes that Chinese citizens have rights that cannot be
infringed upon by the Chinese government. In addition, AI argues that a company can be accused of
being "complicit" if it: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This censorship is a product of the Chinese government's goal to control the flow of all content and
information over the Internet, especially information that the government believes to be critical and
damaging to the nation. AI accuses these companies of succumbing to the lure of an untapped,
lucrative market and consequently, failing to uphold the fundamental human rights. In particular:
At the government's request, Google had launched a censored version of its world–renowned search
engine in China.
Yahoo! had provided private information about its users to the Chinese government. The
government used this information to convict a citizen who had peacefully exercised his right to free
expression.
Microsoft had shut down a blog at the request of the Chinese government.
Google's CEO has argued that the "democratization" of the Internet empowers individuals to be
more critical of governments and politicians. As a company, it has decided to uphold fundamental
human rights.
Yet, despite its motto, "Don't be evil," which insists on holding itself to be morally conscious,
Google released Google.cn for Chinese users in January 2006. Google created this censored version
of its popular search engine "in response to local laws and regulations," even though its own policies
state that it does not and will not censor search results.
In response to the criticism the

Marketing Analysis : The Jw Anderson Product

Product
The JW Anderson product range consists of menswear, womenswear and unisex garments and
accessories. They currently produce six collections annually – two menswear and four womenswear.
(recent collections page on brand book)
(Price ranges per item)
Since its beginning, the brand been characterised by its gender defying designs, mixing masculinity
and femininity in a very contemporary way and creating the idea of a shared closet. "It's not gender
for me, it's just clothing," Jonathan Anderson said. "I feel that in a modern culture, if it's about
gender then it's a very dated concept." This had been particularly notable in his menswear
collections due to society's more typically conservative attitudes towards the way men dress. J.W.
Anderson has been known to send male models wearing mini skorts, crop tops, leather dresses and
ruffled knee–high boots down the runways. This uncompromising approach of avant–garde minimal
androgyny is a solid USP and provides a niche within the ready–to–wear market. According to
Anderson in an interview with The Business of Fashion; "I think the brand will always be about
androgyny," he continues. "I love the relationship between men and women – that coupling. Men
with men, women with women, women and men, that kind of mixture of sex and sharing of
garments – I think it's normal. It's about wearing clothes that tell a story and an emotion; it's not so
much about gender."

The most common themes arising from the top managers so far involved the need to foster
relationships among the SBUs and work with each other to reduce costs (Geoff Percival, 2012). It is
critical for the relationship between the suppliers (Other region markets) and the distributors (UK,

Study of the Ansoff models informs that there is two key methods to gain more income, for the
growth of the market and evolution of the product. By having a glance at the SWOT that was
conducted in the first assessment, it is evident that it will come into view to have a chance to
develop and grow into the overseas market, such as Asia, however it could be expensive and have a
high risk involved.
 By having different ethnic and culture contrasts a method which is substantial also costly to

Netflix : The Australian Market
In late August 2015, Netflix was introduced to the Australian Market. Since its arrival Netflix has
grown to have over 2.7 million users, surpassing Australian rivals Stan by over 2 million users (Roy
Morgan, 2015). Netflix is a media streaming company that allows users to stream television shows
and movies on multiple devices in high definition quality. Foxtel is a pay television company
allowing users to access television shows, movies and events unavailable on free to air television.
Founded in 1995, Foxtel had a monopoly on the pay television market (Foxtel, 2016). Netflix's
emergence onto the pay–tv market raises questions on how this has affected Foxtel's customer base
and profits, especially due to the Netflix's low prices of $8.99 to $11.99 per month. As figure 1
shows, Netflix has been rapidly increasing in subscribers and Foxtel's subscribers have been
declining slowly.
A survey by Canstar Blue Research in 2016 showed that the main influence in consumers beginning
to show more interest in Netflix over Foxtel was a result of value for money, range of content, ease
of sign up and overall satisfaction (Sydney Morning Herald, 2016). Consumer expectations have
been changed as a result of Netflix's introduction.
In terms of value for money, Netflix offers packages ranging from $8.99 to $11.99, all containing
the same content, just with different accessibility rights and high definition access (Sydney Morning
Herald, 2016). Alternatively, Foxtel offers packages between

The Productivity And Flexibility Of The Labor Market
The efficiency and flexibility of the labor market are critical for ensuring that workers are allocated
to their most effective. In Dubai hires skilled foreign workers mostly from South East Asia to fulfill
its needs. Labor markets must therefore have the flexibility to shift workers from one economic
activity to another. In today's globalized world, technology is increasingly essential for firms to
compete and prosper. The technological readiness measures the agility with which an economy
adopts existing technologies to enhance the productivity of its industries, with specific emphasis on
its capacity to fully leverage information and communication technologies. The size of the market
affects productivity since large markets allow firms to exploit economies of scale. Traditionally, the
markets available to firms have been constrained by national borders. In the era of globalization,
international markets have become a substitute for domestic markets, especially for small countries.
There is no doubt that sophisticated business practices are conducive to higher efficiency in the
production of goods and services. Business sophistication concerns two elements that are intricately
linked. Innovation can emerge from new technological and non–technological knowledge. Non–
technological innovations are closely related to the know–how, skills, and working conditions that
are embedded in organizations. Although all the above said characteristics of competitive advantage

technology or ICT. Any business that has to deal with consumers knows how vital the
communication process is. Many consumers have dealt with a company that has poor telephone
customer support and know how frustrating that can become. ICT can help by opening up other
communication paths for the consumer, directly linking them to the business. One of the first things
a company should understand about ICT is the strategic relevance and how important it can be for
success in today's high tech societies. ICT also enables companies to stay current with the high tech
generation and the demands of the instant communications culture. Furthermore, ICT helps
businesses create an opportunity to enter into new markets and continue expanding into existing
market places. Businesses need to understand the strategic relevance and importance of ICT, and
how it relates to success in today's high tech societies. ICT's impact is vast and can touch many
aspects within an organization; things like reducing cost, improving processes, boosting innovation,
increasing productivity, and opening additional channels for communication are a few of the ways
ITC can shape an organizations success. A recent online survey of executives showed that 79% of
executives rate the strategic importance of ICT for their

The Effects of Media on Food Market
Dieting, in the past few decades, has become a significant part of American culture today. This
includes fad dieting, regular utilization of diet products such as Slimfast, and even metabolism
altering pills. Ironically, in addition to this aspect of popular American culture today, there is also an
obesity epidemic. In reaction to these problems presented, unfortunately, there is also a
tremendously skewed ideal body image for those influenced by societal standards. Dieting products
("diet" labeled) only encourage a skewed body image. How does mass production and marketing of
diet products influence healthy eating in the United States today? The answer lies within the media

This applies the fat components as well. Supplementation in this case is problematic because neither
sugar nor sodium in excess are beneficial to an individual's health. Sodium, in particular, has some
health benefits because it maintains fluidity balance, transition of nerve impulses, and takes part in
muscle reaction. In excess, however, it is detrimental to blood volume because of its quality to
absorb water, which then makes the heart work harder thus increasing blood pressure (Mayo Clinic
Staff). This problem presented in society today, in regards to the food industry, is a huge process in
which we are seeing today as a vicious circle. The enriching processing, a process uneducated
consumers assume as healthy, is ultimately a factory's means of breaking down, taking out
components, dehydrating, disinfecting, and even radiating food that was, at one time, nutritious.
This process makes it cheaper for producers to manufacture foods. For example, specifically looking
into meat, the profit ratio per packaged product verses the "refined" grain fed to the animal is
outstanding! This process makes meat a lot less nutrition than Americans tend to assume. The lack
of nutrition in the foods we, as consumers, purchase create deficiencies, which in turn cause major
societal problems mentally and physically. The mental and physical problems inevitably create the
need for western medicine, which then oftentimes creates the need for even

Despite of the booming smart device market, more Chinese software developers began to target
western markets. Compared to consumer products, information technology products such as mobile
apps can be distributed across the borders virtually and no brick–and–mortar warehouse is needed at
all. Chinese IT companies, especially many startups, sometimes prefer to target foreign market first
because of better market structure, intellectual property protection, and mature consumers.
Compared to China and its more than 200 mobile app stores, Europe and the U.S. have fewer

consumers are in general more willing to pay for software and apps as they install which could
provide a more stable source of cash flow.

In the last decade, the United States has established itself to be one of the most influential sources of
technological development. As a result, United States' technological development has made a
significant contribution to its robust economy. Since the technological development continues to
rapidly grow to the present date, specifically the nanotechnology sector, the United States is
pursuing to develop and expand its appropriate institutional mechanisms and policies to better

Additionally, advocates of state intervention and promotion (industrial policy) believe that
technological development, particularly the nanotechnology sector, requires a substantial amount of
government funding and management because of its complexity and challenges. John F. Sargent,
specialist in science and technology policy, strongly argues that active federal government role is or
almost imperative to allow for commercialization of nanotechnology and further expansion of
technological development (Sargent 22). The reason for this is because advocates of state
intervention believe that the private sector is insufficient in funding technological development in
which, therefore, may cause a stagnant growth and inefficiency. As a matter of fact, without
government intervention, advocates believe that the United States' nanotechnology development and
research would not have preserved its dominance and high position in the technology business and
competition in the first place. Ideally, advocates claim that the influence of industrial policy and
appropriate institutional mechanism has allowed the technological benefits to spread worldwide.
Over the last decade, the state has enacted some pertinent policies that transformed the way
technological development, specifically the nanotechnology sector, can benefit our nation. To start

The Canadian Media Market
The rules and regulations of the Canadian media market are currently enforced by the CRTC, an
agency whose main concern is preventing one company from monopolizing the media market. As a
part of the enforcing of rules, the CRTC ensures that media companies maintain a minimum of 60%
of Canadian content in their programming. The upholding of this law is integral to the continued
production of Canadian content; media that regularly receives a much smaller audience than
American–produced shows would certainly be pulled from air without such laws in place. This is a
staple of the Canadian media environment: it has allowed the talent of many Canadians to be
recognized by the world, which without the enforcement of Canadian content laws would not ...

Special allowances are given to companies who include French–speaking components in their
programming, and even for including international media that has been translated into French
Canadian by a French Canadian. Not only does this increase the job market in Canada, but continues
to bring awareness to the fact that Canada is a dual speaking nation. The Canadian school system
has cut French from grades K–6, and have only a grade 9 requirement upon entering high school:
thus, the French language is being further lost as each generation passes through schooling. The
importance of the use of French in Canadian history is incredibly tied to its cultural identity, and the
removal of the language would certainly alienate a large population of Canada, notably of course
Quebec. Providing allowances for the inclusion of French propagates the language, reminding new

Grand Strategy Essay
Some of the strategies, formulated (recommended) in the previous tool (tool 14), were formed by
combining two or more similar strategies (they required similar process/actions or they had similar
or complementary outcomes). These strategies will have multiple, complex, and a different degree
of impacts on product, market, and organization. Hence, in some cases, the same strategy may fall
under two or more grand strategies. This is natural and a sign of a good strategy in a sense that a
defensive strategy also works as an offensive strategy or a reactive strategy will do the job of a

How Media Organizations Produce Audiences And Markets
This segment will review variety of literature exploring on how and why media organizations
produce audiences and markets. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this,
and how the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out
there, however six will be explored.
"The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for
granted." (Ross & Nightingale 2003)
Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the
news, and even billboards and posters, and we don't even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the
face. Along with this media, comes different audience, and different reactions. The ... Show more

Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and
how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media's intended message is fruit is great, it all
depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more
credit, and it's understood that they mat react in different ways.
Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two–Step Flow theory is also similar.
"Formulated first in the The People's Choice, the hypothesis suggests that 'ideas often flow from
radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population.'"
(Lazarfield and Katz, 1970)
Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working
with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the
audience's minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the
mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders.
These people are very media–literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media
uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way,
and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of
an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical. Two–Step Flow

Shanghai Committee of Transport was the first authority to take action, which co–sponsored with

The same can be said for trends and products. They have witnessed what a mistake it is to ignore
their past progress and simply focus on what is next. While it is important to spend a great deal of
time working towards advancement, especially in a market that is rising. However, it is very difficult
to ignore what brought about all of these changes and what has been working (Kerin, Hartley &
Rudelius, 2013).
Another challenge that they may face includes economic changes. Since, Prince Sports markets their
product internationally, they need to pay attention to the economies of all the countries they

resulting in new marketing tactics having to be put in place (Benoit & Gleason, 2012).

Do you

Contradictory enough, standardization of the brand's global image needs to be accomplished via the

Pros And Cons For Knits Away
Globalisation Pros & Cons:
Globalisation is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy. The
globalization of markets refers to the merging of historically distinct and separate national markets
into one huge global marketplace. Businesses now a days do not view their domestic market as there
only option but the world is there market. Two factors that contribute to the globalisation growth are
falling trade barriers and technological change in communications, information processing and
transportation. Although at a glance, more customers for Knits Away may sound very appealing but
as with everything, globalization has its pros and its cons. I will now mention a few. As a consultant,

The Stock Market Movements And The Social Media
The stock market movements are complex and difficult to predict with certainty. Strategies tend to
work for a while before they fail terribly. Mathematical and statistical formulae don't hold for long.
This is mainly because some of the factors influencing the demand/supply of a stock cannot be
quantified and may be poison distributed. Historical patterns are broken every now and then while
fundamental data bears different effects on stocks at different times of an economic cycle. However,
there appears to be a correlation between the stock market movements and the atmosphere in the

This must be relevant data that is cost effective to help us answer the research questions stated in the
introductory part.
We are going to collect sample data and test it for conclusions. The main data collection methods
will be secondary data from online sources and through questionnaires.
Our focus on secondary data will be on social media sources that are reliable and trustworthy. The
sources should have a profile for influencing stock markets with their information. As for the social
media, we shall select three major ones. These are Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
We will use 6 days' data; 3 of which are prices prior to the news on social media and three days after
the news. We shall focus on the average price movement, the standard deviation, and the volume
traded in the six days.
In this method, we shall adapt these assumptions:
1. The particular social media news are those influencing the stock market only.
2. The data gathered from secondary sources is accurate and relevant for our research.
3. Data collected from questionnaires are accurate and true.
4. Majority of fundamental traders influence the market most. That is, technical traders have little or

The statistics will then be studied using Microsoft Excel to get averages, pie charts, and standard

families were living in extreme poverty and not even enough money to feed their own families.
Coffee being the second most traded commodity and also referred to as black gold I would think that
they would profit and have improved qualities of life and developing, instead of becoming less
developed and not even have the means and resources to survive(Francis, 2006). Overall after
watching this it just goes to show that we live in a messed up world and people are more worried
about business and profits instead of the well being of other and the overall well being of the world.
The price of commercial coffee is controlled by the New York and London exchange markets where
they decide the prices of coffee(Francis, 2006). Most of the buyers and seller that deal in the trading
of coffee usually look at the New York market to make their decisions on the prices. Also the World
Trade Organization is involved in controlling trade of commercial coffee, but these decisions and the
way stuff is traded is controlled by developed nation and small undeveloped countries in Africa have
to say or voice in

The Sharing Of Social Media

  • 1. The Sharing Of Social Media Introduction With the advent of social media, the sharing economy has become one of the biggest stories of this past decade. The sharing economy can be defined as the collaborative sharing of resources to be used for consumption, with the 'sharing' of goods and services being exchanged for a profit. Interest in the sharing economy has surged with the emergence of highly popular peer–to– peer marketplaces like Uber or Airbnb. It provides a whole new way for individuals to use underused or unused resources to find new profit opportunities. Under–utilized goods can have value based on a rental price depending on the market. These firms only provide a cloud–based application that is used as a marketplace for people to share their goods and services. It has become an attractive business model for those looking to make more income with more flexibility. As demonstrated with Uber, regular consumers are able to use their own vehicles to provide transportation services to others. Airbnb users are able to provide any available un–utilized space from their own homes to visitors who need a place to say. Furthermore, these platforms allow for regular consumers to also become the suppliers, depending on their own assets. Because the marginal cost of supplying these goods is little–to–none, these services are often priced at much lower rates. This makes the sharing economy model very attractive as an alternative to other established business models. However, the sudden rise of such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Government Interventions are Failing Introduction Around the world, governments, mostly intervenes in the market in order to accomplish their policy objectives. The government's policy objectives or goals could be related to economics, ranging from stabilization of prices, export promoting, encourage equal distributions for income and commodity protection. The examples as per above proves that government intervention is not only limited to economic effects but also influences the society. There are two (2) types of usual regulated government interventions, which are automatic and discretionary. Automatic can be defined as intervention which is based on rules and regulations. On the other side, government interventions which are discretionary mostly targets stopping, suspension or limitation of a certain contract market. An early review of government market interventions shows that discretionary based interventions usually fails in accomplishing targeted policy objective compared to interventions based on rules as the latter proves to be more successful in a market economy. At the same time, discretionary interventions give results that are undesired and this could be quite damaging to the government. The harmfulness in this aspect can be defined as total impact on those involved in either marketing or producing commodities. Government Intervention in the Markets Some of the reasons which cause government interventions are in order to overcome market failure, to accomplish an equal distribution ... You have different marketing teams evaluating the Heineken's global brand positioning. Your objective is to recommend to the CEO how you should proceed with your global brand efforts. 1. What are Heineken's strengths and weaknesses? Is Heineken a global brand? Why or why not? What are the characteristics of a global brand? What competitive and cultural barriers does the Heineken brand face? A global brand is one which customizes product features and selling techniques to local tastes so that consumers in different locations and under different socio–cultural constructs (or, in this case, also under different development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5. What should be the role of Heineken headquarters regarding the marketing of the brand worldwide? What's the balance of central or local control that makes the most sense? There should be some standardization of imagery, consistency of look & feel of media, and of brand feeling/personality in the overall message. However, there should be local autonomy in customizing slogans, catchy phrases/print materials, promos etc. based on what makes sense to the local culture and at that phase of their "evolution." 6. What do you recommend to your CEO about standardizing the brand's global image? Do you have enough information? If not, what are you missing to provide a concrete recommendation? Contradictory enough, standardization of the brand's global image needs to be accomplished via the localization / customization of the bigger & broader principal concept/image/feeling/personality. Once established that Heineken stands for ABC (#4 above,) the way to get the message across in the different markets will differ. • 17. Investigate the Behaviour of Organisations and the Market... Introduction In this assignment I will identify the structure of markets within the economy and explain how they deviate from the model of perfect competition. I will also expand on which market forces dominate the market place, identifying the organisational responses to demand including the adoption of competitive strategies within the free market. Finally I will explain the role of the competition commission and regulatory bodies. Market Types The most important factor within any market is the number of rivals competing for a share of the business. Competition, as described by Stigler, G (2008) arises whenever two or more parties strive for something that all cannot obtain. Perfect competition is seen as a theoretical ideal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Market forces Market forces are primarily concerned with the supply of and demand for goods and services within the free market. The demand for a good can be influenced by many factors such as price, available substitutes and a person's income. Price can be one of the primary forces when looking at the demand for a product, it does however have limitations. Demand may not necessarily rise if the price drops below a certain level, people will automatically assume an inferior product and not purchase it. Similarly if a product that is essential to the consumer is priced higher the demand may not decrease, petrol is a good example of this. In order for us to predict how much someone is willing to buy at a given price, we must first create a demand schedule, which can be represented as a demand curve. (Fig 1.) Fig 1. It is apparent that as the price of an item increases, the quantity demanded reduces. This is an over simplification as there are many non price factors affecting demand. The Ceteris paribus clause can best used to describe this method of analysis. Non price factors affecting demand Product substitution occurs when the demand for one product affects the demand of another. Although price can influence peoples decision to buy a substitute, personal taste, brand loyalty and demography can influence decisions often more persuasively than price. People's income can also affect their purchasing habits, often increasing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Expanding Social Media Into the Chinese Market Essay Twitter is expanding its social media business into China. This report seeks to describe the potential problems of this expansion by analyzing Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft's mistakes after attempting to enter the Chinese market in 2006. According to Amnesty International (AI), an international human rights organization, the Chinese government has been violating the "fundamental human rights" of its citizens, and Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft have been "complicit." AI defines these human rights as being inalienable for all human beings. By this definition, AI believes that Chinese citizens have rights that cannot be infringed upon by the Chinese government. In addition, AI argues that a company can be accused of being "complicit" if it: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This censorship is a product of the Chinese government's goal to control the flow of all content and information over the Internet, especially information that the government believes to be critical and damaging to the nation. AI accuses these companies of succumbing to the lure of an untapped, lucrative market and consequently, failing to uphold the fundamental human rights. In particular: At the government's request, Google had launched a censored version of its world–renowned search engine in China. Yahoo! had provided private information about its users to the Chinese government. The government used this information to convict a citizen who had peacefully exercised his right to free expression. Microsoft had shut down a blog at the request of the Chinese government. Google's CEO has argued that the "democratization" of the Internet empowers individuals to be more critical of governments and politicians. As a company, it has decided to uphold fundamental human rights. Yet, despite its motto, "Don't be evil," which insists on holding itself to be morally conscious, Google released Google.cn for Chinese users in January 2006. Google created this censored version of its popular search engine "in response to local laws and regulations," even though its own policies state that it does not and will not censor search results. They currently produce six collections annually – two menswear and four womenswear. (recent collections page on brand book) (Price ranges per item) Since its beginning, the brand been characterised by its gender defying designs, mixing masculinity and femininity in a very contemporary way and creating the idea of a shared closet. "It's not gender for me, it's just clothing," Jonathan Anderson said. "I feel that in a modern culture, if it's about gender then it's a very dated concept." This had been particularly notable in his menswear collections due to society's more typically conservative attitudes towards the way men dress. J.W. Anderson has been known to send male models wearing mini skorts, crop tops, leather dresses and ruffled knee–high boots down the runways. This uncompromising approach of avant–garde minimal androgyny is a solid USP and provides a niche within the ready–to–wear market. According to Anderson in an interview with The Business of Fashion; "I think the brand will always be about androgyny," he continues. "I love the relationship between men and women – that coupling. Men with men, women with women, women and men, that kind of mixture of sex and sharing of garments – I think it's normal. It's about wearing clothes that tell a story and an emotion; it's not so much about gender." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since its arrival Netflix has grown to have over 2.7 million users, surpassing Australian rivals Stan by over 2 million users (Roy Morgan, 2015). Netflix is a media streaming company that allows users to stream television shows and movies on multiple devices in high definition quality. Foxtel is a pay television company allowing users to access television shows, movies and events unavailable on free to air television. Founded in 1995, Foxtel had a monopoly on the pay television market (Foxtel, 2016). Netflix's emergence onto the pay–tv market raises questions on how this has affected Foxtel's customer base and profits, especially due to the Netflix's low prices of $8.99 to $11.99 per month. As figure 1 shows, Netflix has been rapidly increasing in subscribers and Foxtel's subscribers have been declining slowly. A survey by Canstar Blue Research in 2016 showed that the main influence in consumers beginning to show more interest in Netflix over Foxtel was a result of value for money, range of content, ease of sign up and overall satisfaction (Sydney Morning Herald, 2016). Consumer expectations have been changed as a result of Netflix's introduction. In terms of value for money, Netflix offers packages ranging from $8.99 to $11.99, all containing the same content, just with different accessibility rights and high definition access (Sydney Morning Herald, 2016). The size of the market affects productivity since large markets allow firms to exploit economies of scale. Traditionally, the markets available to firms have been constrained by national borders. In the era of globalization, international markets have become a substitute for domestic markets, especially for small countries. There is no doubt that sophisticated business practices are conducive to higher efficiency in the production of goods and services. In reaction to these problems presented, unfortunately, there is also a tremendously skewed ideal body image for those influenced by societal standards. Supplementation in this case is problematic because neither sugar nor sodium in excess are beneficial to an individual's health. Sodium, in particular, has some health benefits because it maintains fluidity balance, transition of nerve impulses, and takes part in muscle reaction. In excess, however, it is detrimental to blood volume because of its quality to absorb water, which then makes the heart work harder thus increasing blood pressure (Mayo Clinic Staff). This problem presented in society today, in regards to the food industry, is a huge process in which we are seeing today as a vicious circle. The enriching processing, a process uneducated consumers assume as healthy, is ultimately a factory's means of breaking down, taking out components, dehydrating, disinfecting, and even radiating food that was, at one time, nutritious. This process makes it cheaper for producers to manufacture foods. For example, specifically looking into meat, the profit ratio per packaged product verses the "refined" grain fed to the animal is outstanding! This process makes meat a lot less nutrition than Americans tend to assume. The lack of nutrition in the foods we, as consumers, purchase create deficiencies, which in turn cause major societal problems mentally and physically. The mental and physical problems inevitably create the need for western medicine, which then oftentimes creates the need for even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, advocates of state intervention and promotion (industrial policy) believe that technological development, particularly the nanotechnology sector, requires a substantial amount of government funding and management because of its complexity and challenges. John F. Sargent, specialist in science and technology policy, strongly argues that active federal government role is or almost imperative to allow for commercialization of nanotechnology and further expansion of technological development (Sargent 22). The reason for this is because advocates of state intervention believe that the private sector is insufficient in funding technological development in which, therefore, may cause a stagnant growth and inefficiency. As a matter of fact, without government intervention, advocates believe that the United States' nanotechnology development and research would not have preserved its dominance and high position in the technology business and competition in the first place. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this, and how the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out there, however six will be explored. "The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for granted." (Ross & Nightingale 2003) Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the news, and even billboards and posters, and we don't even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the face. Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media's intended message is fruit is great, it all depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more credit, and it's understood that they mat react in different ways. Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two–Step Flow theory is also similar. "Formulated first in the The People's Choice, the hypothesis suggests that 'ideas often flow from radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population.'" (Lazarfield and Katz, 1970) Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the audience's minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders. These people are very media–literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical. They have been in business for over forty years and have continued to evolve to fit the needs of the consumers while also managing to expand their products. In doing so, they have needed to keep their company ahead of trends that have occurred in the market. The same can be said for trends and products. They have witnessed what a mistake it is to ignore their past progress and simply focus on what is next. While it is important to spend a great deal of time working towards advancement, especially in a market that is rising. However, it is very difficult to ignore what brought about all of these changes and what has been working (Kerin, Hartley & Rudelius, 2013). Another challenge that they may face includes economic changes. Since, Prince Sports markets their product internationally, they need to pay attention to the economies of all the countries they distribute to. Significant changes in an economy can greatly change their customer base and needs resulting in new marketing tactics having to be put in place (Benoit & Gleason, 2012). Prince Sports can stay ahead of the changes they possibly face if they keep in mind when Linda Glassel said "It's learning, it's studying, it's talking to people who understand where the market is going" (Pg. 241). In order to stay ahead and take on any challenges that come their way, they need to employ research methods that can help them solve their problems and come up with new ideas for marketing their products. Besides using the Five–Step marketing approach, there are specific aspects they should pay close attention to. As a part of step three, they need to collect data, both primary and ... • 75. Marketing and Heineken a Heineken Case Study Questions Put yourself in the role of the Global VP of Marketing at Heineken. Consumers in the Netherlands respond differently to those in Germany, let alone to those in Africa. However, we're missing key info about each region's "valuation" of beer consumption as compared to other things/activities/likes–dislikes. Other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Pros And Cons For Knits Away Globalisation Pros & Cons: Globalisation is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy. The globalization of markets refers to the merging of historically distinct and separate national markets into one huge global marketplace. Businesses now a days do not view their domestic market as there only option but the world is there market. Two factors that contribute to the globalisation growth are falling trade barriers and technological change in communications, information processing and transportation. Although at a glance, more customers for Knits Away may sound very appealing but as with everything, globalization has its pros and its cons. I will now mention a few. As a consultant, I advise Knits Away to consider all sides of globalization and the impact it may have on them before deciding to open their product to new markets. Pros of globalization for Knits Away: Wider pool of potential customers; as Ireland is a small country, staying in just this market would not give any great opportunities for such specialized ... The fact their jewellery has been recognised by European designers and have been featured in European fashion magazines such as UK Elle and UK/Italian Vogue. I advise them to build even more brand awareness by continuing their relationships with the European designers and magazines. This is huge for a small Irish business so it will really boost them. • 79. The Stock Market Movements And The Social Media The stock market movements are complex and difficult to predict with certainty. Strategies tend to work for a while before they fail terribly. Mathematical and statistical formulae don't hold for long. This is mainly because some of the factors influencing the demand/supply of a stock cannot be quantified and may be poison distributed. Historical patterns are broken every now and then while fundamental data bears different effects on stocks at different times of an economic cycle. However, there appears to be a correlation between the stock market movements and the atmosphere in the social media. This is yet to be tested in this study, even though there are numerous studies concerning this topic. However, through the AP's Twitter account, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This must be relevant data that is cost effective to help us answer the research questions stated in the introductory part. We are going to collect sample data and test it for conclusions. The main data collection methods will be secondary data from online sources and through questionnaires. Our focus on secondary data will be on social media sources that are reliable and trustworthy. The sources should have a profile for influencing stock markets with their information. As for the social media, we shall select three major ones. These are Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. We will use 6 days' data; 3 of which are prices prior to the news on social media and three days after the news. We shall focus on the average price movement, the standard deviation, and the volume traded in the six days. In this method, we shall adapt these assumptions: 1. The particular social media news are those influencing the stock market only. 2. The data gathered from secondary sources is accurate and relevant for our research. 3. Data collected from questionnaires are accurate and true. 4. Majority of fundamental traders influence the market most. That is, technical traders have little or no effect on stock prices. The statistics will then be studied using Microsoft Excel to get averages, pie charts, and standard deviations. ANALYSIS AND PRESENTATION OF FINDINGS After comprehensive data ... • 81. Analysis Of Black Gold After watching the Black Gold film by Nick Francis I realized how hard these third world countries have it and are used and exploited by wealthy corporation for their own profit while leaving the farmers and producers without any means to survive. Throughout the film at times it was hard to watch as these corporation grew and profited by the coffee beans produced in Africa, the farmer and families were living in extreme poverty and not even enough money to feed their own families. Coffee being the second most traded commodity and also referred to as black gold I would think that they would profit and have improved qualities of life and developing, instead of becoming less developed and not even have the means and resources to survive(Francis, 2006). Overall after watching this it just goes to show that we live in a messed up world and people are more worried about business and profits instead of the well being of other and the overall well being of the world. The price of commercial coffee is controlled by the New York and London exchange markets where they decide the prices of coffee(Francis, 2006). Most of the buyers and seller that deal in the trading of coffee usually look at the New York market to make their decisions on the prices. Also the World Trade Organization is involved in controlling trade of commercial coffee, but these decisions and the way stuff is traded is controlled by developed nation and small undeveloped countries in Africa have to say or voice in ...
