Christmas Day In Japan
You might wonder what other people in the world are doing at this time of the year. Well, this paper
will tell you all about what the Japanese people do during Christmas. You may be surprised at what
they do during this special holiday. In Japan they do celebrate Christmas, but surprisingly
celebrating Christmas is not their number one priority. Although they celebrate Christmas on the
same day that we do they celebrate Christmas eve even more, and they do not celebrate it in a way
that would be common. Many people in Japan think of Christmas eve as a day of peace and love.
They celebrate Christmas eve like it is another valentine's day, and usually go to a fancy restaurant
and buy each other a gift. Another tradition that many Japanese people do on Christmas and
Christmas eve is the Disney Christmas Parade. The Disney Christmas Parade is when they have a
parade with many Disney characters who pass out candy and do some cool tricks. Not only do they
celebrate it like a valentine's day, but they also have many favorite foods. Some of their favorite
foods that they have are KFC and strawberry shortcake. It may sound weird that they eat KFC on
Christmas eve and Christmas day, but it is a tradition around Japan. KFC in Japan was first
introduced when a Japanese family could not find any turkey for Christmas and so they ate fried
chicken instead. The KFC manager saw his opportunity and decide to run a campaign called
"Kentucky for Christmas". Kentucky for Christmas was very

Welcome To The Black Parade Symbolism
The main idea of the song "Welcome to the Black Parade" is the acceptance of death. Although
death is part of everyone's life and there is no escaping it, but there is no need for suffering while
waiting for death. The song focuses on an individual called The Patient who is diagnosed with
cancer and realizes he will not survive. Before The Patient dies he remembers about a time with his
father taking him into the city to see a parade. On that same day his father asks him what will he do
for the people when he grows up...The author of "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical
Romance is an alternative rock band focuses on the idea that death comes as a form of a memory.
The way how the message was interpreted is by the use of tone, imagery, and symbolism which
these three key points explain a vital meaning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first lyrics quotes are written that come from the father of The Patient, but within the song
playing the tone is in a sound of a young boy. This young boy is The Patient from the past when he
was a boy. The reason why he only remembers this is because this was his most memorable memory
of his father where he took his son to a parade. Moving into a more serious tone of an older voice in
present time The Patient is dying. Remembering those moments though not accepting the fact that
he will die. Back to the father his sayings to him help him relieve the pain and everything will be ok
because he will be back with his father. From there The Patient is starting to accept the terms that he

Spending Thanksgiving Research Paper
There are many different ways how so spend Thanksgiving. Some people spend Thanksgiving at
home doing nothing, some even spend it on the streets. Some people aren't even home with their
family, they are serving other people food and helping at food banks so that the people on the streets
have food. Most of the people that I know spend it with their families and have a great time. The
classmates that I interviewed do the same as well. I spend my Thanksgiving going to my grandma
and grandpas house and have a great lunch. Most of the time we have turkey and lamb, corn and
bread, and coleslaw .Then I go to my other grandmas and grandpas house and we eat a delicious
dinner. It's not very fun but, I love seeing my cousins and my niece who is a

What Is Mardi Gras Parade
1. What is this parade called, and where is it located? What is this parade about? What are they
celebrating in this parade? Few parades are more iconic than the Mardi Gras parades of New
Orleans. Many may view Mardi Gras as simply a giant parade of debauchery centering around
revelry, alcohol, bead throwing and an excuse to bare skin. However, there are also those who do not
know that there are many parades rather than one Mardi Gras Parade. These parades are deeply
rooted in the history and society of New Orleans and its residents. These Parades are celebrations
leading up to Mardi Gras (translated to Fat Tuesday from the French) which marks the beginning of
the Christian Lent period. Lent involves fasting (with much of the focus on the abstinence of meat
consumption,) but Mardi Gras parade roots herald back to ancient Rome. Roman men would
disguise themselves during the winter solstice reveling in the streets to celebrate the ... Show more

as gumbo, red beans, rice, jambalaya and if there are 'sandwiches "they are po'boys. You will also

You can hear both children and adults asking for calas in the crowd. You also hear them speculating
on what the throws will be this year and hoping for a coconut and lots of beads. If you catch a string
of black beads, you have a years' worth of good luck. Throughout the parade, you see adults
crowding the floats and pushing each other. However, the children are protected by everyone. Local
etiquette allows for the children to catch the 'good' throws, or if there is danger of child getting hurt,
adults will catch the throws and hand them to the children, whether they know them or

The Bi-National Pride Parade
Presently, the LGBT movement advocates the equality of the LGBT minority within society. Many
LGBT based organizations in Canada such as the Bi–National Lesbian Conference, Videofag and
Egale Canada Human Rights Trust just to name a few, are promoting the awareness and importance
of accepting their community. One of the most renowned organizations when it comes to LGBT
promotion is Pride Toronto, which hosts the annual Pride Parade; one of the largest LGBT parades
in the world. Their aim is to spread inclusiveness and erase stereotypes and prejudices surrounding
their community. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even took part in the parade in 2016 which
promulgated the event enormously. This goes to show how much Canada has traversed and

Bulls On Parade Essay
Every country has their own culture, and like other cultures, Spain too has its own specific culture.
Part of the Spanish culture revolves around the bull. Bullfighting and bull runs by many people are
recognized as the only Spanish culture in the world, and because of its importance it always begins
on time. Still many people view it as a crime. Me being a foreigner I have first hand experience with
different cultures. A long time ago in India’s ritual would be to hunt and kill the Indian
tiger. Over time the Indian tiger became endangered and now they have become illegal to hunt.
When I saw my great great grandfathers hunting pictures he had two tiger heads. Both rituals of
bullfighting and hunting tigers are an inseparable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bullfighting is another major event and part of the Spanish culture. A bullfight “la
corrida'; is an extremely tens drama divided into three parts. First, a special parade honoring the
fighters goes through town. Then, the bull enters the ring and the bullfighter “matador';
tests the bull for intelligence with cape passes. The fighters use daggers called picadors to weaken
the bull. The second act is to enrage the bull by stabbing its shoulders with darts. Finally the last act
the bullfighter duels with the bull and one of them wins (Juriz and Harlington 30). When the bull
dies the moment is called “la hora de la verdad– the moment of the truth'; (Qtd. in
Spain revised 30). The bullfighting season lasts from March to October and bullfights are performed
on Sundays. A major drawback to the bullfighting fans is the price of the seats. Seats are divided
into three sections. The “sombra'; shade seating places the viewer in the shade. The
“sol'; full sun seats place the viewer in direct sunlight, and the “sonta';
seats place the viewer in partial sun (Dell 38). Lastly, an opposition group has formed called the
Beloved Bulls. The group condemns bullfighting and says its animal cruelty and barbaric (Beloved
Bull’s website). Still, with much opposition bullfighting remains Spain’s

Parades In The 1890s
So much has happened in the past 5 years with us moving again and then the great fire burning
down a good portion of The White City and the realignment of the political system in the 1890s with
new patterns that still are around today. There's political campaign events like rallies, parades,
picnics, and torchlight processions that gets the whole community participating including women
and children, even though only men can vote. I think Zira would have liked the parades more than
anything, but in my opinion I think the torchlight processions with my two girls would have been
pretty cool to see. Last year On an Easter Sunday in 1894, one hundred men, called the Coxey's
Army, marched from Ohio to Washington. Coxey's Army was created by Jacob

The Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots: The Beginning of a Movement
Throughout history, homosexuals have been persecuted for being themselves. From the suicide of
the ancient writer Sappho to Leonardo Da Vinci's arrest for "sodomy", we can see that people have
loved others of the same sex since the beginning. Only now, in modern times, have we allowed the
LGBT+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and plus.) to be seen as equals in the eyes of the
law. Yet, these strides towards equality have not been without its sacrifices. It is believed by many
that the modern day LGBT+ movement was sparked by the Stonewall Riots. As a result, the
Stonewall riots proved to homosexuals that they were persecuted and maltreated. It pushed those
who were still reluctant, and someone whom I was quite close to, to finally start believing that it was
time to speak up for their rights.
For eons, homosexuals have lived in fear: a fear of coming out and showing the world their true, raw
selves. They have been tormented and looked down on for living lifestyles different than the
"traditional" way. There are numerous reasons why homosexuals choose to keep their true selves
hidden behind a forced facade. Unfortunately, this is because of the fact that many people in the
past, and present, think lesbians and gay men have psychological problems. Thus, they are seen as a
danger to the public. Harassment of gay and lesbian people was one method used to fight them off.
The harassment of LGBT members today is still

Pros And Cons Of Pride Parades
This article talked about the profanity and dangers of the pride parade for gay marriage and whether
children should be able to attend. New York City's annual homosexual "Pride" parade took place
Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the highest "Platinum" level by Wal–Mart. It featured nudity, lewdness,
vulgarity and even a sadomasochism float which subjected many young children who were present
in the parade either marching or viewing the parade. One particular AFTAH writer observed most of
the parade, documenting everything from who attended to what occurrences goes on. One of the
reasons that caused the Supreme Court to decide on the ruling was creating a "constitutional right"

Most of the younger audience there was children of homosexual parents who were forced to observe
the highly inappropriate parade. The writer asked one woman how she felt about younger viewers
attending the parade and her answer was very good. She responded to saying how she doesn't think
children should watch the parade because of the but it's their children and we aren't allowed to force
them to do anything. "However, that right to choose does not extend to minor children, who are
taken to such bawdy events by their parents and subjected to the perverseness and homo–eroticism
that naturally flow from a parade celebrating deviant sex and gender." One little girl was standing
next to him who appeared to be about 10 or 11. She was previously dropped off by her father, who
checked one her once, and left her alone for hours to view the "pride" parade. The writer also
documented the violence that had occurred during the parade. Some people get very into what they
love and do, which is great, but once that becomes harmful to others because they get too
enthusiastic, it should be condoned. After a little while of standing in his spot for two hours, one

Fliers At The Peace Parade
In a culturally diverse world, it is difficult for individuals and communities to express thoughts and
opinions to one another well. It is especially difficult when it comes to disagreements and
differences regarding religion. To overcome this struggle, it is important to be open–minded,
accepting, understanding, and respectful of everyone – whether they have the same or different
beliefs. Each religion has its own set of traditions, practices, and beliefs. Because of this, individuals
of different religions may not agree with one another, often resulting in conflicts. The case study,
"Fliers at the Peace Parade" discusses the conflict Baptist Pastor Kent Brandenburg experiences.
This conflict affected many different people especially Brandenburg,

Essay on Compare and Contrast: Christmas and Thanksgiving
Compare and Contrast: Christmas and Thanksgiving
Holidays are always celebrated no matter religion, beliefs, or culture. Some are recognized more
than others but none two are as highly recognized like the cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving
holidays. The pair may seem vastly different, as they are two completely separate occasions, but in
actuality they do share very similar attributes. Many of the similarities and differences are about to
be explained, so here goes. Christmas like Thanksgiving believe it or not, do happen to share many
traits. One major factor that the two own is the warmth and love of bringing family and close friends
together. It's the few times a year that everyone has a reason to all gather around to ... Show more

Like Thanksgiving, Christmas also has their main dish and it's a huge oven cooked ham that is
complimented by very many side dishes but never the less followed up by the famous Christmas
time eggnog. Both wonderful holidays put up magnificent feasts for family and loved ones to gather
around and enjoy. Of course receiving gifts is nice, but only one of these two occasions to gifts get
brought in the picture. Christmas claims the attribute as every year gifts are exchanged among
family, friends, co–workers, etc. Every Christmas morning kids and adults alike rush to unwrap
presents that are specially marked with their names on it. As where Thanksgiving takes a little
different approach, no gifts but instead just grasp what you're thankful for. Being only one month
apart in date, Christmas and Thanksgiving have two very different seasons. In November, when its
considered fall, leaves have changed colors, the temperature has dropped some and the air brings
crisp breezes. Often than not, you'll see hay rides being offered, corn mazes and folks not quite in
their full winter attire. But when Christmas time rolls around snow has fallen, not a trace of leaves
on the trees and a bit too cold for hay rides and corn mazes. This would be one month later, in
December, where you will see town's people bundled up in their warmest winter gear, building
snowmen or making snow angels. Two individual seasons that are

Analysis Of Thanksgiving Norman Rockwell
In the painting "Thanksgiving" by Norman Rockwell the painting shows a happy American family
eating a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. The painting also shows the turkey being placed on the table
which clearly is the main thing in the painting. The people that are in it like I said is an American
family that consists of uncles, aunts, siblings, cousin, etc. The theme of this tells me that
Thanksgiving is great time for our family to get together to have a meal and have a proper
conversation for what we are thankful for. The smile on this family in the painting clearly shows that
it is a joyful time when its Thanksgiving. In my opinion, Norman Rockwell wants us to believe that
in Thanksgiving we should be thankful for what we have and that is family.

Personal Narrative: Dealing With Not Using Technology
Going into this assignment I was wasn't how I was going to deal with not using technology. I
thought it would be a near impossible task, because there is technology everywhere in today's
society. The lights we use to brighten our homes, to the water that we use to cook and or wash with.
Luckily before I did the 24 hours of no technology I took a shower so I didn't have to worry about
for Thanksgiving. I would probably like to this 24 hour thing again some time in the future because
I felt like it was a little too easy. Since it was Thanksgiving it was easier not to use my phone since
the whole point of the holiday is to give thanks to people close to you etc, etc. And having a phone
in your face defeats the whole purpose of the holiday. Now ... Show more content on

As much as it was fun to not use technology for day I did miss it. It's fun to watch my favorite
Youtuber rage while playing a game or taking a silly snapchat and sending it to my friends. I think
in the future I'll try to this sort of thing. I'll try to unplug, what I mean by that is no phone, no TV, no
video games. I will however use lights, running water, that sort of thing. I'll do it so I can appreciate
the things around me. Even though while I was unplugged I did lose some connections I noticed
made new connections as well. Whatever you do there will always pros and cons. Similarly to what
we learned from Postman technology is increasing becoming more and more ingrained into our
lives. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but we should be conscious of how we use and how much we
use it. I'm not saying everyone should take a day to unplug yourself from technology because in
today's world that just isn't possible, but if we can understand how technology affects our
connections with people it will become easier to ease of of technology so that everyone can make
those new connections even though they may lose old connections through

Black Lives Matter ( Blm )
Introduction
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a loosely‐coordinated, nationwide movement dedicated to ending
police brutality that rose to prominence in late 2014. It takes its name from a hashtag started by
three Black feminist activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi but the movement and
the hashtag are not identical (Freelon, McIlwain, & Clark, 2016). BLM has achieved national
reputation through their online and offline organizing, obtaining extensive news media coverage and
glowing references in music and entertainment television. Based on a horrendous incident that
sparked a concern for a lot of Black people across the world, the sudden need for a social movement
was born called BLM. Black Lives Matter is a national organization working for the validity of
Black life and also working to rebuild the Black liberation movement. Black Lives Matter broadens
the conversation and highlight the incidents around state violence to include the ways in which
Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state. This referring to the ways in
which Black lives are deprived of basic human rights and dignity. According to the article The
Murder of Walter Scott, which talks about race and class, "African Americans are less than 13% of
the U.S. population yet they are nearly 50% of those killed by the police. North Charleston has a
population of 104,000, 47% Black and the police force is 80% white (Miah, 2015)".

Other Uses For A Captain Cash Loan
There are times in life when a person discovers they can take advantage of a once–in–a–lifetime
opportunity, only they don't have the money to do so. For example, their favorite hockey player may
be traded to a team in their division and will be playing in a nearby town and they want to go see it.
Unfortunately, they don't have enough cash for the tickets. A Captain Cash loan can ensure they
don't miss out.
Another individual may have an old school mate show up in town and they want to go out for the
evening. You won't be able to join them because payday isn't until next week. Call on Captain Cash
and enjoy the evening catching up. The funds can be repaid with the upcoming paycheck, so you get
the best of both worlds.Following are some places a person may wish to visit when taking guests out

Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food
nimals, I think it's kind of gross, but I don't have the commitment to say I'm a vegetarian. Anyway, I
don't enjoy eating animals that much, it's just not for me but that's a personal problem. But that's the
main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes! So, there's one holiday
food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don't you just love good old fashioned wet bread
to fill your genetically modified turkey's carcass? Ew! What? Why is that a thing? I don't need to
argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the Thanksgiving meal that comes
to mind is pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting early September people go wild
over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That's another one of those foods that I just
don't like, I'm a picky eater, it's fine. So, I'll let everyone have that, but that does not make
Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are
mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I'm not mad at them but my family gets a little upset at me
when that's all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn't even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving
celebration is the food, and I'm not into it. Boom! Holiday ruined! I mean, if I'm going to overeat, it
might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse.

and Wampanoag Indians. That's cute and

Handicapped Parade Two Essay
In the photograph Handicapped Parade 2 a colorful group of characters can be seen. The photo itself
is black and white, but the people in it are very interesting and unordinary So unordinary, that it
seems they are uncomfortable or being outcasted or mistreated. The photograph Handicapped
Parade 2 seems to convey a cruel overtone of the treatment of mentally ill and disabled persons in
history, and this is shown through the lighting and barrenness of the background, the focus on
specific people and their wardrobes, and the inattentiveness of the people in the picture to the
photographer. The first feature that helps to portray the overall idea of this photograph is how the
background is shown. There is an empty field with large trees possibly surrounding the enitire area.
This shows that these mentally ill people have historically been isolated, and ignored. People have
just wanted to get them away from what we consider the normal population. Also, the lighting of the
background is very dark, which implies that the area and the people are sad, and it is a very poor feel
in the environment. The second piece that shows us the theme of the image is the certain people
focused on in the photograph, and more importantly their wardrobe. Their regular clothing that they
are wearing seems to be rag–tag, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How To Remember Thanksgiving
Most people's Thanksgivings are probably normal. Some people might not even celebrate
Thanksgiving. My Thanksgivings are not normal at all there's a lot of crazy things that go on. I just
wish one time we can have a normal Thanksgiving one time. But I still like what goes on at our
Thanksgiving. So first of all at my house I help my mom make food to bring to my grandmas. Then
my mom is mad because she has fibromyalgia and her back hurts alot. So I say one thing or do
something that messes something up she gets mad. Then I watch the parade they have. Some people
probably don't watch it. But it's like a tradition my mom would watch it. My grandpa liked to watch
it so it's something special to my mom to do on every Thanksgiving. Then we go to my grandma's
and me and my cousins do stuff like play outside. Some people might not even celebrate
thanksgiving. Then we go inside and my dad cuts the turkey. Which some people might just eat ham
during thanksgiving or something else. When we had thanksgiving when my grandpa and uncle
were still alive me and my cousins would go to the basement and hang out with my grandpa. Then
later at night we would hang out with my uncle. Some people might even go out to a restaurant
because they probably don't want to cook. My grandma thinks the same thing after Thanksgiving.

Therefore, preparing food from the turkey to side dishes would be difficult for a foreigner, but if

However, homemade dressing (i.e. gravy) has been difficult for me to prepare. Therefore, I wanted
to take the easy way out and find that brand of dressing that has the taste of homemade. In my quest
to find the perfect store bought gravy, I first started to use the packet brand of gravy by McCormick.
This gravy was too thick and had a strong flour taste that did not appeal to my taste buds. After
trying various ways of preparing the packet gravy, I then decided to try a different product. The next
gravy I experimented with was the kind that comes in a glass container, prepared by H.J. Heinz
Company. This product can be found at nearly every well–known grocery store. The gravy is
readymade, it just needed to be heated and used straight out of the bottle. It is different from the
packet gravy by McCormick because it does not require broth or water to turn it into gravy. H.J.
Heinz gravy was ok out of the bottle, but it was a watered down and needed additional flavorings to
get that homemade taste. Therefore, I began to search cooking websites and food forums to find
advice and comments posted by the internet community. This process took a while. In the meantime,
I would try to make gravy whenever it is possible in order to differentiate what tasted the best or

I thought it would be a float that would be pretty easy to put together and simple but as we dove into
it I realized that wasn't the case and required a lot more work than what originally thought.
Throughout the process of the float from start to finish I felt I was an active participant from helping
in class, after class by helping build and gather materials, participating in the parade and helping tear
down the float in order to return the trailer. I felt I helped out quite a bit in all these phases from
thinking of ideas when we were in the design phase, thinking of supplies and making a list when we
were trying to figure out what we needed to build the ship, helping build the ship from the frame to
putting cardboard on the plywood and standing the mass, to at the end participating in the

Persuasive Essay On London Pride
The London Pride parade today is the largest of its kind in the country. If you donated £3 whilst
waiting in a bag–search queue at a London Pride event this year, you were presented with a ribbon
wristband with 'SUPPORTER' emblazoned on it. The volunteers holding the donation buckets
would inform you that if you didn't donate, there might not even be a pride the next year, and this
was the only free Pride in the country (this is untrue). However, Pride in London has come a long
way since the first event billed as a pride march in 1972, and is now heavily subsidised by corporate
sponsors. We've now reached a place where the official Pride in London souvenir magazine can
declare that 'in the UK today, LGBT+ people have full legal equality under the law', and
approximately a million people flock to the capital each year to see the Pride march. Many are now
left to wonder whether "London Pride – once a militant demonstration in commemoration of the
Stonewall riots – has become a corporate–sponsored event far removed from any challenge to the
ongoing injustices that we [the LGBT community] face". The fact that the wristband given to those
who donate declares them to be 'supporters' shouldn't be overlooked. The Oxford English Dictionary
defines a supporter as "a person who approves of and encourages a public figure, political party,
policy, etc", which implies that the wearer is not, in fact, a part of Pride. The concept of allyship is
one of great discourse in the social

Thank You for Your Service and Welcome Home Parades Are Not Enough "Too trapped in a war to
be at peace, too damaged to be at war." The last words of Daniel Somers, one of many Iraq War
veterans who took their life in 2013. Two years later Daniel is just another number in an alarming
statistical trend; beginning in 2005, suicide rates among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans started to rise
dramatically and the military and Veterans Affairs created a number of programs to fight the
problem. Despite the investment veteran suicide is a longtime problem that has only been growing
in severity.

The US Department of Defense has launched a suicide prevention program that tries to help service
members to overcome the stigma of seeking help. Furthermore, the government has recently passed
a bill known as the Clay Hunt SAV Act aimed at making information on suicide prevention more
easily available to veterans, offering financial incentives to mental health professionals who work
with vets and requiring an annual evaluation of the military's mental health programs by an
independent source.
Despite these commendable efforts, to address the crisis of veterans' suicide, we need to rethink how
we reintegrate veterans into civilian society after their service. Many cannot find immediate
employment and struggle to readapt to civilian life. Only 72% of veterans of the last decade's wars
in Iraq and Afghanistan were employed in 2013, according to government statistics. One crucial area
of disconnect appears to be the difficulty in translating military to civilian skills; furthermore, there
is a discernible PTSD bias among employees leading to a reluctance in hiring

Analysis Of Herbert Blumer 's Social Movement
Herbert Blumer describes social movements as "...collective enterprises to establish a new order of
life. They have their inception in the condition of unrest, and derive their motive power on one hand
from dissatisfaction with the current form of life, and on the other hand, from wishes and hopes for a
new scheme or system of living." (Blumer, 1939, p. 199). Social groups partake in a movement in
order to implement change through the use of protests and community involvement to share their
goal. Particularly, participants of the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, etc,)
movement strive to gain equality and acceptance for people of all genders and sexual orientations in
modern day society while ending discrimination against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classical conditioning is the pairing of an unconditioned stimulus with a conditioned stimulus in
order to elicit a conditioned response (Alexanderson, 2016). In the case of the LGBT+ rights
movement, supporters may learn to pair the conditioned stimulus of LGBT+ pride symbols, such as
the rainbow flag, with a conditioned response of enthusiasm. For example, at the 2016 New York
pride parade there were accounts of supporters donning merchandise, such as T–shirts, with the
popular symbol (Wickman, 2013). When participants of the social movement attend an event such
as a protest or a parade, such as the New York City Pride March, they are likely to observe the
enthusiasm of the crowds around them (Levy, 2015). The enthusiasm of the crowd acts as an
unconditioned stimulus that causes individual enthusiasm to increase. An individual's predominant
inclination will be enhanced in a group with similar inclinations due to the phenomenon of group
polarization (Alexanderson, 2016). In this case, participants of a parade for gay pride will have
enhanced enthusiasm in addition their already–present enthusiasm. When this enthusiasm is paired
with an iconic gay rights symbol, such as the rainbow flag, it becomes a conditioned stimulus able
to elicit a conditioned response of enthusiasm on it's own. Since the 1970s, the rainbow flag has
been symbolic of the LGBT+ movement and serves to empower and unify participants, partially
because of its

Thanksgiving Research Paper
Thanksgiving is a holiday when the whole family gets together and feast. In my family this is when
all of my family members come together. The thing about my family is that we are like a broken
family. Everyone doesn't get along. So that causes a lot of problems on the table. My family is also
outspoken and they like to start trouble. So that's when the arguments start. I'm going to give you an
example of my most memorable Thanksgiving. This goes back to four years ago. I believe I was in
the seventh grade around this time. Thanksgiving was at my grandmother's house that year. So
everyone definitely came for the food. The problem was that my two aunties weren't getting along at
that time. One came up from Florida and the other came up from Jamaica. My aunty Darrett was
from Jamaica and my auntie Reds is from Florida. They were my grandma's sisters. Now imagine
being in a house on a holiday with two of your family members not speaking. Once it was time for

wanted the curry goat but, aunt Reds had it at the moment. My mother was next to her and took the
curry goat and passed it to my aunt Darrett. Aunt Reds said "Why yuh haffi gi it to di dutty gyal?".
Then my aunt Darrett said "Who dutty yuh mussi chatting bout yuhself?" This is exactly when the
fight started. They got up and went in eachothers face. All of the grandchildren and cousins,
including me tried to calm them down. After a few hours both of them finally calmed down and
started laughing about it. It's sad that my family always has to go through a tragic moment at every

What Is The Evolution Of Gay Pride Parades
The evolution of the gay pride parade
Over the past 42 years, annual gay pride parades have become tradition in dozens of cities
worldwide. They have evolved from radical marches to enjoyable festivals of celebrations with
elaborate floats, and notable participants. This annual parade has been a way of celebrating LGBT
history and diversity. These gay pride parades haven't always been all happy, and full of beautiful
rainbows though. In the beginning, 1969, they were portrayed as somber marches taking determined
stands on gay rights. This research paper will specifically focus on the evolution of pride parades
from 1969 to the present, and how the parades influenced the law.

The previous, loosely organized somber marches, and parades were taken over by more organized
and less political elements of the gay society. The marches began dropping the names, and labels of
"freedom", and "liberation", replacing them with the world wide known philosophy of "Gay Pride".
According to Wikipedia, many parades still have at least some political or activist character,
especially is less accepting locations. However, in more accepting locations, the parades take on a
festive like character where the political stage is built on the enjoyable atmosphere of celebrations.
These large parades often involve floats, dancers, drag queens, and loud, amplified music, but even
such celebratory parades usually include the political and educational aspect on this certain
situation. Local politicians, and marching groups from known LGBT institutes join the celebration
to continue their support for open gay pride. Other typical parade participants include local LGBT
friendly churches such as Metropolitan community churches, and LGBT employee associations

Importance Of Labour Day
The first Monday of September Labour Day is celebrated, a statutory holiday in Canada since the
1894 (Heron & Penfold, 1996). A day where tribute is paid to the working men and women for all
the hard work. It is not a day of riot or protest, Labour Day is a day of rest and celebration. A day
where the community comes together as one. On Labour Day people celebrated, festivals, parades,
leisure events, dances, concerts, speeches and so much more are put on by the local workers to
celebrate the important day (Heron & Penfold, 1996). Labour day is a event that has been around for
many year in Canadian cities and towns even before coming legalized, it was a self declared day off
of work or a local civil holiday. It is a day where no one has to go to work, a day where people and
families can be together, to spend time together.
When Labour Day approached everyone got excited because it was a day of celebration and day of
leisure. In addition to all the events put on, the centrepiece of the day was the parade. The parade
has much importance in the labour festivities and celebrations in Canada. The parade is what caught
everyones eye, it was a form of communication and showed the strength of the labour force. The
workers worked hard on this public displays to send a series of powerful symbolic message to the
community (Heron & Penfold, 1996). When it came to the Labour Day parade it was a collective of
many different working groups coming together. The whole community came together to celebrate,
people from all different kinds of classes and backgrounds and occupations came together. From the
first national recognized Labour Day in London, Ontario on September 3rd of 1894 there was 3,000
wage earners there (Heron & Penfold, 1996). From butchers, to fireman, to the printers, to barbers,
plumbers and many other working groups walking the streets together to celebrate Labour day
(Heron & Penfold, 1996). Labour is a day where all groups unite to celebrate as one. In a addition,
all the workers wanted the same things, they wanted "public recognition of organized labour and its
important role, and release from the pressures of work in capital industry and for expanded leisure
time" (Heron & Penfold, 1996,

The Parade Of The Marching Band
The flags surrounding the marching band just seem like added colors to the show. The audience
always sees the colors of the flags and uniforms and only care about the music and performance of
the show. They could also care about the scores if the band competes. Nobody ever thinks twice
about the work they put in, what talent they have to have, and what they do after marching band is
over with. What happens after marching band is an even more elaborate sport that surrounds flags,
other props and the people themselves in a more competitive field and it is called winterguard.
Colorguard is with a marching band, outside, you do not use equipment other than flags and rifles
that often, not much dance, and the uniforms usually either go with the school's colors, or if the
guard is lucky to compete, than it goes with their show. Winterguard is essentially colorguard, but
indoors. In winterguard the spotlight is literally put on the people themselves. There is no band to
spin to, there is just lyrical music. There is no field to march on, but a designed tarp to dance on. The
uniforms are made more for dance. Winter Guard International inputs winterguard as "Modern color
guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance
and other interpretive movement. Color guards can be found in, high schools, middle schools, some
universities, and also some independent organizations some of which are related to drum corps."

there is one particular event that is intriguing and catches one's eye if you were to pass by. What I'm
talking about is the Rose Parade, which is also called the Tournament of Roses Parade and is known
for having huge floats covered with vibrant colors from the natural flowers that cover them. The

The second most important person is the Grand Marshal which is an honorary person chosen by the

Marshal Brown, who is one of the most recognized spokesman for domestic violence as he has
talked about domestic violence for twenty years. Mr. Brown is a tall and slender man who wears a
suit every day due to his job as a spokesman and has bags under his eyes due to his job of having to
constantly travel and speak against domestic violence. He enjoys his job because of the feeling he
gets from saving people that can't get away from horrible relationships. Just as every person has
reasons for their actions he has his reason for speaking against violence as his mother was abused by
his dad but hasn't told anyone. This next person is someone that some girls despise and some revere
and makes the guys fall for her. This person is of course the Rose Queen, who has a coronation for
being the most pretty contestant out of the six young girls. This years Rose Queen is Stephanie

The Kennett Delta Parade
Parade A parade is a public possession causing some of these to be celebrate for a special day or
event. People can even win prizes for being in them. I attended the Kennett Delta Parade on
September 29th. I really enjoyed watching it! I thought it was the longest parade, but it had so much
entertainment. In summary, the parade included the police department, tractors, modern cars, floats,
marching units, school bands, school clubs, and sport teams from different areas. The parade even
carried the delta fair queen and maids. My favorite section of the parade were the floats considering
some people get so creative decorating. The floats were awarded. First place won $1000, second
place won $600, third place won $450, fourth place won $350, and fifth place won $250. Some
people bring in their competitive side, which makes it really amusing to watch. At the same time, I
felt like I was part of the community when I attended the Kennett Delta Parade. Parades combine
some of my favorite things: community, faith, family, patriotism, and simply being involved. Events
like these bring everyone together. However, I chose this specific event because I show up every
year and really enjoy coming to watch. Not only is it thrilling, but it also keeps me from staying
home. I will continue to attend to this event in the future because every year it is different. I surely
do not plan on missing any of it. The sensation of the Kennett Delta Fair Parade is something I look
forward to every year.

Paternal Care In The Black Parade
The next set of lyrics I would like to examine is from the beginning of the song. The gentleman
singing the song is discussing his father, saying, "He said, 'Will you defeat them, your demons, and
all the nonbelievers, the plans that they have made? Because one day I'll leave you, a phantom, to
leave you in the summer and join The Black Parade.'" In this extended line, the father is encouraging
his son to conquer his fears and the people that have been holding him back, or have made him too
afraid to try different things. The father is saying that his son has to do this because he, the father,
will not be around much longer to help him do that. While fathers do many different actions to show
paternal care, it is not simply a physical act; it

Puerto Rican Day Parade
Waking up to the sound of Spanish music blasting through the streets, and the smell of Spanish food
all over the air, and going to the window and seeing hundreds of Puerto Ricans celebrate in the
streets, covering themselves with the flags. This is a description of New York during the second
week of June. A few blocks from grand concourse, a lot of my high school friends were Puerto
Ricans, they invited me and took me as one of their own, that lead me to sharing some of their
customs which are very like the ones from my county, The Dominican Republic. Based on my
knowledge I decided to talk about this cultural event that Puerto Ricans celebrate every year
specially because most of us celebrate with them. The Puerto Rican Day Parade is one of the biggest
cultural celebrations. As you read, I would give further details on its traditions and why this parade

and that the parade was also incorporated with other states besides New York, which started

Monty Hall Problem in Ask Marilyn
A letter from Craig. F. Whitaker of Columbia to the "Ask Marilyn" column in the parade magazine
in 1990 asks, "suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind
one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows
what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do
you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?" Marilyn vos Savant
had answered that you should switch every time. An easier way to explain, she added, was "suppose
there are a million doors, and you pick door #1. Then the host, who knows what's behind the doors
and will always avoid the one with the prize, opens them all except door #777,777. You'd switch to
that door pretty fast, wouldn't you?" However, readers weren't convinced. Marilyn vos Savant
started receiving criticism. Each day she was receiving tons on mail, phone calls, and fax for her
answer to the Monty Hall problem alone. Readers said that the odds of getting the prize was 50%
because there are 2 doors. Even with mathematical proof, readers remained stubborn. For example,
Paul Erdős, a Hungarian mathamatician had even argued against Marilyn vos Savant. He had only
caned his ind after he was shown a computer simulation. But, without Marilyn, many people would
not have heard about the Monty Hall problem. She made this the problem known and after that
event, it was later called the Monty Hall

parade. The parade attracted hundreds to the location as well as made the opportunity for the later
events. Police were present at the time as well. It was supposed to be just another parade with no out
of the ordinary happenings. However, Ms. Adacia Chambers changed that with her vehicle.
According to the arrest affidavit done for Ms. Chamber by the Stillwater Police Department, Ms.
Chambers's events of how she committed the crimes are told. It begins with her running her

Chambers told the police that she has had a history with depression and other mental illnesses.
Blood was taken to determine if Ms. Chambers was under the influence of either alcohol or other
illegal drugs as she was processed through the jail. The blood test was also to find out if Ms.
Chambers has other illnesses that are transferrable.
Discussion
According to an article by NBC news, as of November 4, 2015, Ms. Chambers is being charged
with four counts of second–degree murder and forty–six counts of felony assault. One might assume
that charges of assault and battery might have been filed due to innocent bystanders' were being
physically injured that constitutes battery and the threat of physical injury which constitutes assault.
However, only charges of assault not battery have been filed against Ms. Chambers at this time by
the Stillwater Police Department.
Ms. Chambers was first charged with the four counts of second–degree murder. From the fifth
edition of Criminal Law Today, the definition of second–degree murder is
"Depending on the jurisdiction, either (1) a murder committed during the perpetration or attempted
perpetration of an enumerated felony, such as arson, rape, robbery, or burglary; or (2) any murder
not classified by statute as first–degree murder" (Schmalleger and Hall 2014

Christmas Day In Japan

  • 1. Christmas Day In Japan You might wonder what other people in the world are doing at this time of the year. Well, this paper will tell you all about what the Japanese people do during Christmas. You may be surprised at what they do during this special holiday. In Japan they do celebrate Christmas, but surprisingly celebrating Christmas is not their number one priority. Although they celebrate Christmas on the same day that we do they celebrate Christmas eve even more, and they do not celebrate it in a way that would be common. Many people in Japan think of Christmas eve as a day of peace and love. They celebrate Christmas eve like it is another valentine's day, and usually go to a fancy restaurant and buy each other a gift. Another tradition that many Japanese people do on Christmas and Christmas eve is the Disney Christmas Parade. The Disney Christmas Parade is when they have a parade with many Disney characters who pass out candy and do some cool tricks. Not only do they celebrate it like a valentine's day, but they also have many favorite foods. Some of their favorite foods that they have are KFC and strawberry shortcake. It may sound weird that they eat KFC on Christmas eve and Christmas day, but it is a tradition around Japan. KFC in Japan was first introduced when a Japanese family could not find any turkey for Christmas and so they ate fried chicken instead. The KFC manager saw his opportunity and decide to run a campaign called "Kentucky for Christmas". Kentucky for Christmas was very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Welcome To The Black Parade Symbolism The main idea of the song "Welcome to the Black Parade" is the acceptance of death. Although death is part of everyone's life and there is no escaping it, but there is no need for suffering while waiting for death. The song focuses on an individual called The Patient who is diagnosed with cancer and realizes he will not survive. Before The Patient dies he remembers about a time with his father taking him into the city to see a parade. On that same day his father asks him what will he do for the people when he grows up...The author of "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance is an alternative rock band focuses on the idea that death comes as a form of a memory. The way how the message was interpreted is by the use of tone, imagery, and symbolism which these three key points explain a vital meaning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first lyrics quotes are written that come from the father of The Patient, but within the song playing the tone is in a sound of a young boy. This young boy is The Patient from the past when he was a boy. The reason why he only remembers this is because this was his most memorable memory of his father where he took his son to a parade. Moving into a more serious tone of an older voice in present time The Patient is dying. Remembering those moments though not accepting the fact that he will die. Back to the father his sayings to him help him relieve the pain and everything will be ok because he will be back with his father. From there The Patient is starting to accept the terms that he will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Spending Thanksgiving Research Paper There are many different ways how so spend Thanksgiving. Some people spend Thanksgiving at home doing nothing, some even spend it on the streets. Some people aren't even home with their family, they are serving other people food and helping at food banks so that the people on the streets have food. Most of the people that I know spend it with their families and have a great time. The classmates that I interviewed do the same as well. I spend my Thanksgiving going to my grandma and grandpas house and have a great lunch. Most of the time we have turkey and lamb, corn and bread, and coleslaw .Then I go to my other grandmas and grandpas house and we eat a delicious dinner. It's not very fun but, I love seeing my cousins and my niece who is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. What Is Mardi Gras Parade 1. What is this parade called, and where is it located? What is this parade about? What are they celebrating in this parade? Few parades are more iconic than the Mardi Gras parades of New Orleans. Many may view Mardi Gras as simply a giant parade of debauchery centering around revelry, alcohol, bead throwing and an excuse to bare skin. However, there are also those who do not know that there are many parades rather than one Mardi Gras Parade. These parades are deeply rooted in the history and society of New Orleans and its residents. These Parades are celebrations leading up to Mardi Gras (translated to Fat Tuesday from the French) which marks the beginning of the Christian Lent period. Lent involves fasting (with much of the focus on the abstinence of meat consumption,) but Mardi Gras parade roots herald back to ancient Rome. Roman men would disguise themselves during the winter solstice reveling in the streets to celebrate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contents are often shared since there is enough for a feast, including traditional local fare such as gumbo, red beans, rice, jambalaya and if there are 'sandwiches "they are po'boys. You will also find 'calas' a fried rice flour sugar and cinnamon fritter only made during Mardi Gras and baptisms. You can hear both children and adults asking for calas in the crowd. You also hear them speculating on what the throws will be this year and hoping for a coconut and lots of beads. If you catch a string of black beads, you have a years' worth of good luck. Throughout the parade, you see adults crowding the floats and pushing each other. However, the children are protected by everyone. Local etiquette allows for the children to catch the 'good' throws, or if there is danger of child getting hurt, adults will catch the throws and hand them to the children, whether they know them or ... Many LGBT based organizations in Canada such as the Bi–National Lesbian Conference, Videofag and Egale Canada Human Rights Trust just to name a few, are promoting the awareness and importance of accepting their community. One of the most renowned organizations when it comes to LGBT promotion is Pride Toronto, which hosts the annual Pride Parade; one of the largest LGBT parades in the world. Their aim is to spread inclusiveness and erase stereotypes and prejudices surrounding their community. • 11. Bulls On Parade Essay Every country has their own culture, and like other cultures, Spain too has its own specific culture. Part of the Spanish culture revolves around the bull. Bullfighting and bull runs by many people are recognized as the only Spanish culture in the world, and because of its importance it always begins on time. Still many people view it as a crime. Me being a foreigner I have first hand experience with different cultures. A long time ago in India’s ritual would be to hunt and kill the Indian tiger. Over time the Indian tiger became endangered and now they have become illegal to hunt. When I saw my great great grandfathers hunting pictures he had two tiger heads. Both rituals of bullfighting and hunting tigers are an inseparable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bullfighting is another major event and part of the Spanish culture. A bullfight “la corrida'; is an extremely tens drama divided into three parts. First, a special parade honoring the fighters goes through town. Then, the bull enters the ring and the bullfighter “matador'; tests the bull for intelligence with cape passes. The fighters use daggers called picadors to weaken the bull. The second act is to enrage the bull by stabbing its shoulders with darts. Finally the last act the bullfighter duels with the bull and one of them wins (Juriz and Harlington 30). When the bull dies the moment is called “la hora de la verdad– the moment of the truth'; (Qtd. in Spain revised 30). The bullfighting season lasts from March to October and bullfights are performed on Sundays. A major drawback to the bullfighting fans is the price of the seats. Seats are divided into three sections. The “sombra'; shade seating places the viewer in the shade. The “sol'; full sun seats place the viewer in direct sunlight, and the “sonta'; seats place the viewer in partial sun (Dell 38). Lastly, an opposition group has formed called the Beloved Bulls. The group condemns bullfighting and says its animal cruelty and barbaric (Beloved Bull’s website). Still, with much opposition bullfighting remains Spain’s national sport and ... Parades In The 1890s So much has happened in the past 5 years with us moving again and then the great fire burning down a good portion of The White City and the realignment of the political system in the 1890s with new patterns that still are around today. There's political campaign events like rallies, parades, picnics, and torchlight processions that gets the whole community participating including women and children, even though only men can vote. I think Zira would have liked the parades more than anything, but in my opinion I think the torchlight processions with my two girls would have been pretty cool to see. • 15. The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots: The Beginning of a Movement Throughout history, homosexuals have been persecuted for being themselves. From the suicide of the ancient writer Sappho to Leonardo Da Vinci's arrest for "sodomy", we can see that people have loved others of the same sex since the beginning. Only now, in modern times, have we allowed the LGBT+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and plus.) to be seen as equals in the eyes of the law. Yet, these strides towards equality have not been without its sacrifices. It is believed by many that the modern day LGBT+ movement was sparked by the Stonewall Riots. As a result, the Stonewall riots proved to homosexuals that they were persecuted and maltreated. It pushed those who were still reluctant, and someone whom I was quite close to, to finally start believing that it was time to speak up for their rights. For eons, homosexuals have lived in fear: a fear of coming out and showing the world their true, raw selves. They have been tormented and looked down on for living lifestyles different than the "traditional" way. There are numerous reasons why homosexuals choose to keep their true selves hidden behind a forced facade. Unfortunately, this is because of the fact that many people in the past, and present, think lesbians and gay men have psychological problems. Thus, they are seen as a danger to the public. Harassment of gay and lesbian people was one method used to fight them off. The harassment of LGBT members today is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Pros And Cons Of Pride Parades This article talked about the profanity and dangers of the pride parade for gay marriage and whether children should be able to attend. New York City's annual homosexual "Pride" parade took place Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the highest "Platinum" level by Wal–Mart. It featured nudity, lewdness, vulgarity and even a sadomasochism float which subjected many young children who were present in the parade either marching or viewing the parade. One particular AFTAH writer observed most of the parade, documenting everything from who attended to what occurrences goes on. One of the reasons that caused the Supreme Court to decide on the ruling was creating a "constitutional right" for homosexual Yet in all honestly, there are many forms where it is actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the younger audience there was children of homosexual parents who were forced to observe the highly inappropriate parade. The writer asked one woman how she felt about younger viewers attending the parade and her answer was very good. She responded to saying how she doesn't think children should watch the parade because of the but it's their children and we aren't allowed to force them to do anything. "However, that right to choose does not extend to minor children, who are taken to such bawdy events by their parents and subjected to the perverseness and homo–eroticism that naturally flow from a parade celebrating deviant sex and gender." One little girl was standing next to him who appeared to be about 10 or 11. She was previously dropped off by her father, who checked one her once, and left her alone for hours to view the "pride" parade. The writer also documented the violence that had occurred during the parade. Some people get very into what they love and do, which is great, but once that becomes harmful to others because they get too enthusiastic, it should be condoned. • 19. Fliers At The Peace Parade In a culturally diverse world, it is difficult for individuals and communities to express thoughts and opinions to one another well. It is especially difficult when it comes to disagreements and differences regarding religion. To overcome this struggle, it is important to be open–minded, accepting, understanding, and respectful of everyone – whether they have the same or different beliefs. Each religion has its own set of traditions, practices, and beliefs. Because of this, individuals of different religions may not agree with one another, often resulting in conflicts. Some are recognized more than others but none two are as highly recognized like the cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. The pair may seem vastly different, as they are two completely separate occasions, but in actuality they do share very similar attributes. Many of the similarities and differences are about to be explained, so here goes. Christmas like Thanksgiving believe it or not, do happen to share many traits. Being only one month apart in date, Christmas and Thanksgiving have two very different seasons. In November, when its considered fall, leaves have changed colors, the temperature has dropped some and the air brings crisp breezes. Often than not, you'll see hay rides being offered, corn mazes and folks not quite in their full winter attire. But when Christmas time rolls around snow has fallen, not a trace of leaves on the trees and a bit too cold for hay rides and corn mazes. • 23. Analysis Of Thanksgiving Norman Rockwell In the painting "Thanksgiving" by Norman Rockwell the painting shows a happy American family eating a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. The painting also shows the turkey being placed on the table which clearly is the main thing in the painting. The people that are in it like I said is an American family that consists of uncles, aunts, siblings, cousin, etc. The theme of this tells me that Thanksgiving is great time for our family to get together to have a meal and have a proper conversation for what we are thankful for. The smile on this family in the painting clearly shows that it is a joyful time when its Thanksgiving. In my opinion, Norman Rockwell wants us to believe that in Thanksgiving we should be thankful for what we have and that is family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I thought it would be a near impossible task, because there is technology everywhere in today's society. The lights we use to brighten our homes, to the water that we use to cook and or wash with. Luckily before I did the 24 hours of no technology I took a shower so I didn't have to worry about for Thanksgiving. I would probably like to this 24 hour thing again some time in the future because I felt like it was a little too easy. Since it was Thanksgiving it was easier not to use my phone since the whole point of the holiday is to give thanks to people close to you etc, etc. And having a phone in your face defeats the whole purpose of the holiday. I'll try to unplug, what I mean by that is no phone, no TV, no video games. I will however use lights, running water, that sort of thing. I'll do it so I can appreciate the things around me. Even though while I was unplugged I did lose some connections I noticed made new connections as well. Whatever you do there will always pros and cons. Similarly to what we learned from Postman technology is increasing becoming more and more ingrained into our lives. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but we should be conscious of how we use and how much we use it. I'm not saying everyone should take a day to unplug yourself from technology because in today's world that just isn't possible, but if we can understand how technology affects our connections with people it will become easier to ease of of technology so that everyone can make those new connections even though they may lose old connections through ... • 27. Black Lives Matter ( Blm ) Introduction Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a loosely‐coordinated, nationwide movement dedicated to ending police brutality that rose to prominence in late 2014. It takes its name from a hashtag started by three Black feminist activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi but the movement and the hashtag are not identical (Freelon, McIlwain, & Clark, 2016). BLM has achieved national reputation through their online and offline organizing, obtaining extensive news media coverage and glowing references in music and entertainment television. Based on a horrendous incident that sparked a concern for a lot of Black people across the world, the sudden need for a social movement was born called BLM. Black Lives Matter is a national organization working for the validity of Black life and also working to rebuild the Black liberation movement. Black Lives Matter broadens the conversation and highlight the incidents around state violence to include the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state. This referring to the ways in which Black lives are deprived of basic human rights and dignity. According to the article The Murder of Walter Scott, which talks about race and class, "African Americans are less than 13% of the U.S. population yet they are nearly 50% of those killed by the police. • 35. Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food nimals, I think it's kind of gross, but I don't have the commitment to say I'm a vegetarian. Anyway, I don't enjoy eating animals that much, it's just not for me but that's a personal problem. But that's the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes! So, there's one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don't you just love good old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey's carcass? Ew! What? Why is that a thing? I don't need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the Thanksgiving meal that comes to mind is pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That's another one of those foods that I just don't like, I'm a picky eater, it's fine. So, I'll let everyone have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I'm not mad at them but my family gets a little upset at me when that's all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn't even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I'm not into it. Boom! Holiday ruined! I mean, if I'm going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse. The photo itself is black and white, but the people in it are very interesting and unordinary So unordinary, that it seems they are uncomfortable or being outcasted or mistreated. The photograph Handicapped Parade 2 seems to convey a cruel overtone of the treatment of mentally ill and disabled persons in history, and this is shown through the lighting and barrenness of the background, the focus on specific people and their wardrobes, and the inattentiveness of the people in the picture to the photographer. The first feature that helps to portray the overall idea of this photograph is how the background is shown. There is an empty field with large trees possibly surrounding the enitire area. This shows that these mentally ill people have historically been isolated, and ignored. People have just wanted to get them away from what we consider the normal population. Also, the lighting of the background is very dark, which implies that the area and the people are sad, and it is a very poor feel in the environment. The second piece that shows us the theme of the image is the certain people focused on in the photograph, and more importantly their wardrobe. Their regular clothing that they are wearing seems to be rag–tag, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. How To Remember Thanksgiving Most people's Thanksgivings are probably normal. Some people might not even celebrate Thanksgiving. My Thanksgivings are not normal at all there's a lot of crazy things that go on. I just wish one time we can have a normal Thanksgiving one time. But I still like what goes on at our Thanksgiving. So first of all at my house I help my mom make food to bring to my grandmas. Then my mom is mad because she has fibromyalgia and her back hurts alot. So I say one thing or do something that messes something up she gets mad. Then I watch the parade they have. Some people probably don't watch it. But it's like a tradition my mom would watch it. My grandpa liked to watch it so it's something special to my mom to do on every Thanksgiving. Then we go to my grandma's and me and my cousins do stuff like play outside. Some people might not even celebrate thanksgiving. Then we go inside and my dad cuts the turkey. Which some people might just eat ham during thanksgiving or something else. When we had thanksgiving when my grandpa and uncle were still alive me and my cousins would go to the basement and hang out with my grandpa. Then later at night we would hang out with my uncle. Some people might even go out to a restaurant because they probably don't want to cook. My grandma thinks the same thing after Thanksgiving. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 41. Thanksgiving Research Paper Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday for the United States. It is the day of family gathering, thankfulness, and day of feast. However, this holiday is not celebrated in any other countries. Therefore, preparing food from the turkey to side dishes would be difficult for a foreigner, but if shown how the meals are cooked makes it easier to replicate. One of my favorite parts of the meal is the gravy. Gravy makes the meal more flavorful as it can be used on the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls and afterwards on turkey sandwiches. Therefore, I wanted to take the easy way out and find that brand of dressing that has the taste of homemade. In my quest to find the perfect store bought gravy, I first started to use the packet brand of gravy by McCormick. This gravy was too thick and had a strong flour taste that did not appeal to my taste buds. After trying various ways of preparing the packet gravy, I then decided to try a different product. The next gravy I experimented with was the kind that comes in a glass container, prepared by H.J. Heinz Company. This product can be found at nearly every well–known grocery store. The gravy is readymade, it just needed to be heated and used straight out of the bottle. It is different from the packet gravy by McCormick because it does not require broth or water to turn it into gravy. H.J. Heinz gravy was ok out of the bottle, but it was a watered down and needed additional flavorings to get that homemade taste. Therefore, I began to search cooking websites and food forums to find advice and comments posted by the internet community. This process took a while. Homecoming Parade Float The idea of doing a float for the homecoming parade as a way of demonstrating already known leadership and technical skills in conjunction with using the leadership skills and techniques that we have learned over the last weeks was a great idea. Not only was this classroom knowledge that was learned but it was also applied and showed how we as individuals could use this knowledge on such projects as a parade float or on other projects that we might have in the future. • 47. Persuasive Essay On London Pride The London Pride parade today is the largest of its kind in the country. If you donated £3 whilst waiting in a bag–search queue at a London Pride event this year, you were presented with a ribbon wristband with 'SUPPORTER' emblazoned on it. The volunteers holding the donation buckets would inform you that if you didn't donate, there might not even be a pride the next year, and this was the only free Pride in the country (this is untrue). However, Pride in London has come a long way since the first event billed as a pride march in 1972, and is now heavily subsidised by corporate sponsors. We've now reached a place where the official Pride in London souvenir magazine can declare that 'in the UK today, LGBT+ people have full legal equality under the law', and approximately a million people flock to the capital each year to see the Pride march. Many are now left to wonder whether "London Pride – once a militant demonstration in commemoration of the Stonewall riots – has become a corporate–sponsored event far removed from any challenge to the ongoing injustices that we [the LGBT community] face". The fact that the wristband given to those who donate declares them to be 'supporters' shouldn't be overlooked. The Oxford English Dictionary defines a supporter as "a person who approves of and encourages a public figure, political party, policy, etc", which implies that the wearer is not, in fact, a part of Pride. They have their inception in the condition of unrest, and derive their motive power on one hand from dissatisfaction with the current form of life, and on the other hand, from wishes and hopes for a new scheme or system of living." (Blumer, 1939, p. 199). Social groups partake in a movement in order to implement change through the use of protests and community involvement to share their goal. In the case of the LGBT+ rights movement, supporters may learn to pair the conditioned stimulus of LGBT+ pride symbols, such as the rainbow flag, with a conditioned response of enthusiasm. For example, at the 2016 New York pride parade there were accounts of supporters donning merchandise, such as T–shirts, with the popular symbol (Wickman, 2013). When participants of the social movement attend an event such as a protest or a parade, such as the New York City Pride March, they are likely to observe the enthusiasm of the crowds around them (Levy, 2015). The enthusiasm of the crowd acts as an unconditioned stimulus that causes individual enthusiasm to increase. An individual's predominant inclination will be enhanced in a group with similar inclinations due to the phenomenon of group polarization (Alexanderson, 2016). In this case, participants of a parade for gay pride will have enhanced enthusiasm in addition their already–present enthusiasm. When this enthusiasm is paired with an iconic gay rights symbol, such as the rainbow flag, it becomes a conditioned stimulus able to elicit a conditioned response of enthusiasm on it's own. Since the 1970s, the rainbow flag has been symbolic of the LGBT+ movement and serves to empower and unify participants, partially because of its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The audience always sees the colors of the flags and uniforms and only care about the music and performance of the show. They could also care about the scores if the band competes. Nobody ever thinks twice about the work they put in, what talent they have to have, and what they do after marching band is over with. What happens after marching band is an even more elaborate sport that surrounds flags, other props and the people themselves in a more competitive field and it is called winterguard. Colorguard is with a marching band, outside, you do not use equipment other than flags and rifles that often, not much dance, and the uniforms usually either go with the school's colors, or if the guard is lucky to compete, than it goes with their show. Winterguard is essentially colorguard, but indoors. In winterguard the spotlight is literally put on the people themselves. There is no band to spin to, there is just lyrical music. There is no field to march on, but a designed tarp to dance on. The uniforms are made more for dance. Winter Guard International inputs winterguard as "Modern color guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?" Marilyn vos Savant had answered that you should switch every time. An easier way to explain, she added, was "suppose there are a million doors, and you pick door #1.
