3. Class of drug:- Beta-lactum Antibiotic
Route :- Orally
Dose :- CHILD- 400 mg/day(tab)
ADULT-1600 mg/day(tab)
4. MECHANISM OF ACTION
Amoxicillin is similar to penicillin in it’s
bacterial action against susceptible bacteria
during the stage of active multiplication.
It acts through the inhibition of cell wall
biosynthesis that leads to the death of
bacteria.
5. INDICATION
To treat bacterial infection,such as chest infection and dental
abscesses.
Ear infection
Stomach ulcer (together with clarithromycin)
Intestinal infection
Urinary tract infection
Bone & joint infection
6. CONTRAINDICATIONS
Patient with a known serious
hypersensitivity reaction to other beta
lactens.
Patient with allergies,asthma,hay fever.
8. NURSING RESPONSIBILITY
Monitor signs of allergic reactions and
anaphylaxis, including pulmonary
symptoms (tightness in the throat and
chest, wheezing, cough dyspnea) or skin
reactions (rash, pruritus, urticaria).
Notify physician or nursing staff
immediately if these reactions occur.
15. NURSING RESPONSIBILITY
Explain adverse side effects, such as nausea
and vomitin.
Effects of therapy, such as increased
abdominal pain.
The importance of communicating any
physical changes to the health care team.
