Background
Plastica Limited is the UK’s leading independent manufacturer and supplier of swimming
pool products. Based in the South East of England, the company’s reputation for high quality,
competitively priced products is based on its knowledge and understanding of the wet
leisure market and its friendly, helpful staff.
Challenges
Plastica has been using the same software for over 10 years, during this time the company
had grown considerably but no improvements were made to their software to keep up with
its growth. The software was unreliable with systems errors increasing every day. ‘It was
difficult to navigate and simple processes such as raising a PO were complex and very time
consuming’ says Mr Ian Warne, Financial Director for Plastica.
Plastica wasted a lot of time on long drawn out processes, which was becoming detrimental
to the business. As the time necessary to fix the errors and carry out simple processes
increased, so did the costs. The licensing and maintenance costs of the underperforming
software were huge, which was another concern for Plastica.
After further investigation, it become apparent that multiple spread sheets are being used
across the business and therefore business data was inaccurate and duplicated. ‘The software
did not produce automated standard business reports and therefore critical information that
was needed to make business decisions was not available’ says Ian.
The Solution
The escalating problem of long, complex processes and inaccurate reporting led Plastica to
search for a more efficient software solution. However, they
did not have time or expertise to manage the process in-house
and they wanted to gain an independent second opinion
from outside the business to challenge and improve business
processes. “We approached a number of companies but Sentis

Initial Facilities, part of the Rentokil Initial family, provides exemplary facilities management
to many of the world’s most successful public and private sector organisations. Their 40,000
staff, working across 30,000 customer sites, pride themselves on achieving operational
efficiencies to deliver tangible business benefits for their clients.
Challenges
Following the purchase of Managed Support Service Plc (MSS) Rentokil Initial were faced
with the task of integrating MSS’ FM system (Nucleus) with their central finance system
(Open Accounts).
To achieve this objective Sentis Consultancy where chosen to project manage the
development of the Nucleus FM system and work with Rentokil’s Open Accounts project
team to ensure a smooth integration and go live.
The Service
The Consultant from Sentis worked closely with the offshore
Nucleus FM development team and the Rentokil Open
Accounts project team to prepare an achievable phased
implementation with set targets and timeframes. “Our

CASE STUDY: RENTOKIL INITIAL
Sentis Consultancy managed the offshore Nucleus
FM development team throughout the integration.
The offshore development team committed to firm
delivery dates on software enhancements and they
were all achieved.
Additional resources were made available to define
and develop the key business reports that were
required. Sentis also managed the user acceptance
testing for the changes that were made to Nucleus

Challenges Plastica has been using the same software for over 10 years, during this time the company had grown considerably but no improvements were made to their software to keep up with its growth.
