Binge drinking is a serious public health problem, especially among young adults in the United States. It is defined as consuming 5 or more drinks on an occasion for men or 4 or more drinks on an occasion for women. Binge drinking increases the risk of many health and social problems like injuries, violence, alcohol poisoning, risky sexual behaviors, and can have long term negative effects on overall health.
