RHOCS Introduction. A few Key Facts.
• Software-defined storage optimized for container environments.
• Addresses platform services, application portability and persistence
challenges.
• Highly scalable backend built on a new technology stack that includes Red
Hat Ceph Storage, the Rook.io Operator, and NooBaa’s Multicloud Object
Gateway technology.
• Simplified and enhanced developer experience across the application
lifecycle

Deployment Options.
Internal Mode Options and External Mode.
• Converged internal mode
Applications and RHOCS pods on the same nodes in the
same OCP cluster, offering simplified management,
deployment speed, and agility.
• Disaggregated internal mode
Separates application and storage pods on different nodes in the same OCP
cluster, allowing an organization to balance Red Hat OpenShift compute and
storage resources independently.
• External mode (RHOCS 4.5 or later)
Decouples storage from OCP clusters, allowing multiple
OCP clusters to consume storage from a single, external
Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster.
OpenShift Container Storage external mode can provide
better performance at scale as workloads grow and
concurrency increases.
