Note:
All family child care homes, licensed or unlicensed, are
permitted to care for up to 8 children including the
provider’s own children under 13 years of age.
• Up to 5 of the 8 children may be infants, toddlers, and
preschoolers; and
• Only 2 of the 5 children may be infants or toddlers
(under 30 months); or
• There can be 3 infants or toddlers if all the other
children are school aged.
Group Family Child Care Homes must be licensed by Early
Years Branch and are permitted, with an assistant, to care
for up to 12 children including the provider’s own children
under 13 years of age.

Branch will have a Ministry of Education licence posted. Family
Child Care Homes will also have a family child care home sign
