This document analyzes employment trends in the core IT sector and core IT occupations from April 2015 to February 2017. It finds that employment in the IT sector increased by 7,300 jobs to 4,432,100 in February compared to January. Within the IT sector, the largest gains were seen in IT & software services/computer systems design. It also reports that job postings for the top 5 IT occupations increased by 16,700 in February compared to January, led by gains in postings for software developers, applications. The document provides this employment data to give context on the components of the IT workforce.
