(NIT Manipur 2021) was established in 2010 by the Government of India at a temporary campus in
Takyelpat, Imphal Manipur to impart quality technical education at various levels of higher learning for students from
Manipur, northeastern India, and also rest of India. It has a present campus at Langol in the western part of Imphal in an area
of 341 acres in the greeny surrounding. It is one of the ten new NITs established and declared as Institutes of National
Importance by an act of Parliament in 2012.

Capital Expenditure
NIT Manipur spent Rs. 7.9 crores as capital expenditure in 2021,
of which a considerable 45.59% spent on procuring books, journals, and e-
resources for the library, almost equal 40.58% spent on buying new
equipment and software for quality research, merely 2.49% spent on
engineering workshops, and the remaining 11.34% of its fund spent on the
creation of capital assets and other expenditures. In 2020, the capital
expenditure was Rs. 5.7 crores and it was around Rs. 1.9 crores in 2019. The
spending as capital expenditure has been increased in 2021 compared to the
last two years.
5. Operational Expenditure
NIT Manipur spent over Rs. 23.5 crores in 2021 as
operational expenditure, of which a whopping 74.79% of its funds spent on paying
salaries to professors and supporting staff, 14.25% of its funds spent on maintaining
academic infrastructures, and the remaining 10.96% spent on conducting Seminars,
Conferences, and Workshops. Spending as operational expenditures were Rs. 13.2
crores in 2020 and Rs. 8.8 crores in 2019. The spending as operational expenditure has
also been increased in 2021 when compared to the last two years.

Sponsored Projects
As National Institute of Technology Manipur has many
distinguished professors and research scholars at its faculty, many big
companies are willing to sponsor this institution, and therefore, it received
Rs. 1.05 crore through the 33 sponsored research projects from 16
companies in the year 2021. In 2020 and 2019, it received Rs. 1.4 and Rs.
3.73 crores through 22 and 17 sponsored research projects from the same
number of 22 and 17 companies, respectively.

NIT Manipur received Rs. 11.7 lakhs through
6 consultancy projects from 3 companies in 2021, and it received Rs. 11.8
and 25.9 lakhs through 22 and 19 consultancy projects from the same
number of 22 and 19 companies in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

UG Graduations & Placements
At National Institute of Technology Manipur, 125 students have been admitted to
UG degree courses and 84% of them graduated, of whom 57.95% got placements at top
companies and 17 were selected for higher studies in 2021; 87.35% of students graduated, of
whom 33.58% got placements and 8 were selected for higher studies in 2020; and 88.43% of
students graduated, of whom 52% got placements and 5 were selected for higher studies in
2019.

At PG programs, 94.54% of students graduated, of whom 21.05% got placements at
top companies and 14 were selected for higher studies in 2021; 87.13% of students
graduated, however, neither got placement nor opted for higher studies in 2020; and 91.21%
of students graduated, of whom 3.8% got placements and 4 were selected for higher studies
in 2019.

In the Ph.D. research program, 152 students have been pursuing research studies till
2021, of whom 15 students graduated in 2021, and 8 and 10 students graduated in 2020 and
2019, respectively.

Rs. 6 LPA in 2021 and Rs. 5.5 LPA in 2020 and also in 2019.
Median Salary of PG Graduates:
Rs. 7 LPA in 2021 and Rs. 4.5 LPA in 2019.

NIT Manipur is in Manipur which lies on eastern Himalaya Mountain with full of
forest, therefore, direct rail connectivity is not available, however, some railway stations,
notability, Dimapur Railway Station which is at the distance of 205.7 km away, and Guwahati
Railway Station which is at the distance of 485 km away from this institution are available.
Besides these, Imphal International Airport which is at a distance of 10.6 km is available for
commuting to this institution for travel by air. Therefore, students from India and the world
can commute to this institution.
