1. OUR SCHOOL: SAN JUAN BAUTISTA – LA SALLE
Our school, San Juan Bautista – La Salle, tries to be an open-
door institution to its neighbourhood and community. In order
to do that, every school year brings a variety of Solidarity
Activities addressed to connect and help, in many different ways, and for many
different purposes, both locally and internationally.
Locally, we develop activities such as:
- Christmas food collecting: children and youngsters at school collect food to
help other families.
- Christmas carols singing: elderly youngsters from school share their
Christmas spirit with the younger pupils and they also visit the Home for
the Elderly.
- Tree Day: children help to reforest some of the surrounding areas that
were destroyed by fires.
Internationally, some other activities are developed to help:
- Domund: collecting money for missioners.
- PROYDE: during a whole week there are several activities taking place at
school to collect funds for an NGO (PROYDE). The money collected will be
used to develop some projects in different countries.
- Summer volunteering: this activity is joined to PROYDE, as well. Every
summer, teachers from La Salle schools spend some time developing some
of PROYDE’s projects.
- Fair Trade Market: the school collaborates with that institution to try to
make a fairer world.
In the following pages, you’ll find a better explanation of each of these activities.
We hope you find them interesting and useful, and we would love to know that
some of them will, even, be an inspiration for you and your school.
