EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners CME Requirements
The Hawaii Medical Board requires Physicians to complete 40 Category 1 or 1-A credits
every two years. If you initially received your license prior to 2/1/14, you will be required
to complete 40 Category 1 or 1A hours.
American Board of Emergency Medicine CME Requirements
The American Board of Emergency Medicine requires an average of 25 AMA PRA Category 1 hours
every year. These hours must all be related to the physician's feld of practice, and a minimum of 8
must be self assessment activities.

Attorney Requirements
Active members of the Bar shall complete at least (3) credit hours of approved Continuing
Legal Education (CLE) by the end of each calendar year. RSCH Rule 22(a)

3. At least once every three years, every active member shall complete (1) hour of approved
ethics or professional responsibility education. This credit hour shall count toward the annual
CLE requirement.
CLE Requirement Exemptions:
➢ Full time Judges: Federal judges, Magistrate judges, Bankruptcy judges, U.S. Court of
Federal Claims judges and Administrative law judges are exempt from CLE requirements.
RSCH Rule 22(h)
➢ Newly Licensed Members: Each person licensed to practice law who elects active status
in the year in which he or she is licensed shall not be required to comply with the required (3)
CLE hours mandated by Rule 22(a) for that year. RSCH Rule (j)

Today, American politics are run by lawyers, although few will admit to it. For two
centuries, lawyers have dominated making law. Over half of all presidents, vice presidents
and Congressmen in U.S. history have taken the bar. Just because they went to law school
does not make them experts in writing law. Most write laws like they are still trying to
confuse a judge, a jury and especially their clients. Lawyer politicians think they are god,
but they are only kings in the voter's kingdom, not princes in a local court.
The problem with politics is it's overrun with lawyers who create continual bureaucracy.
We lost our way with too many lawyers steering the wheels of justice. Our nation was
created by men of career diversity, not lawyers trying to get the upper hand. Those who
study law to be better lawmakers are an asset to our society. But that's next to impossible
when we have lawyers making laws they once manipulated for gain. It's next to impossible
to take the lawyer out of the lawyer once his ego takes over his ethics.

work on his conscience. And his lack of conscience is what makes him a lawyer.
