This report provides a comparative review of the human rights situation faced by gender-variant and trans people worldwide. It analyzes reports of murders of gender-variant people in different world regions in the context of societal transphobia. It also examines the legal and healthcare situations for gender-variant people in various parts of the world. The report is the result of collaborative research and advocacy efforts by Transgender Europe and over 150 contributors from 66 countries seeking to document transphobic violence and map legal environments regarding gender identity.
