wondering why I know this well let me tell you that I was the only kid who was awake from 3AM to

that santa actually existed and had the form of all the other store bought santas. I waited for Santa to

By the way it was 6am. I was for the first time in my life eager to learn. I saw my dad snoring at his
bed. I wondered to myself if he could possibly remember that he had to teach my how to ride a bike.
I never imagined in my little childish brain that my dad was such a heavy sleeper. So I did not want
to be rude or anything like that. After my realization I took responsibility of not waking up my dad
by playing video games. It was 8am and there was a really competitive game going on in
Overwatch. But before it even started I heard footsteps storming towards the living room. I kept
thinking that I was in trouble because I immediately recognized that it was my dad. He told me
"why are you playing video games? I thought you were going to wake me up!" My response was
priceless "I thought you forgot about me and my desire to learn biking". Then after what I said he
realized that he is not giving me much attention that I need and he told me "I promise to you that I
will spent my entire day with you". So with no denial I went to my closet and I wore my gloves and
jacket so that I could go outside in the snow. After when I got dressed up I took my all new bike
outside in the snow. Hoping that I would not hurt myself I took a shovel and I cleaned a small little
path for me to ride my bike along it. Later on my dad came out of the

hot chocolate store there WAS NO GALLONS the elf who worked there said ''4 quarts equal to 1
gallon, 2 pints is equal to a quart, 2 cups is equal to a pint, and 8 oz. is equal to a cup.'' Ms. Claus

Case Study Of Butler's Chocolates
Butler's Chocolates is an Irish, family owned company set up in the year 1932. It was founded by
Marion Butler, a pioneer who began creating her own luxury chocolates by hand in Lad Lane in
Dublin and named it 'Chez Nous Chocolates'. Marion Butler was originally born in India but moved
to Ireland when she was very young where she set up this company and ran it until 1959. She then
sold it to Seamus Sorensen and the Sorensen family are still running this business to date. (About
Us: Butlers Chocolates, n.d.).
The company set up their first retail store in 1960 in the Grafton Arcade and their first Butler's
Chocolate café in 1998 on Wicklow Street in Dublin. The company rebranded in honour of Marion
Butler in 1984 and renamed the company 'Butlers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

 History of sales trends in Butlers for comparison.
All of these reports will help the management and directors of Butlers make decisions for the future
of the business. They can spot different sales trends in the luxury chocolates. If a certain chocolate
or flavour is not selling they could make the decision to discontinue the particular sweet or start
again with a new recipe.
Transaction Processing Systems
Because Butlers Chocolates own many retail stores and cafes, the company would mainly go by the
point of sale concept which David Ingram describes as 'the place and time at which a transaction
takes place, whenever a buyer and seller come together for the purpose of conducting a transaction'
(Ingram, n.d.). This would include when customers pay for their goods by cash over the counter
straight into cash registers or by card with credit card processors. Ingram explains how this point of
sale comes hand–in–hand with transaction processing systems (Ingram, n.d.). Butler's website
provides customers with a service where they have the ability to purchase goods online and have
them delivered to their home. This booking system is a real–time processing system. When a
customer buys a product off the company online, they receive an email confirming their delivery
when their package has been dispatched and they can also track their order. They claim to make an
effort to 'process

A Report On The Night
Everyone sleeps at certain times. Chicago's imminent seeming glow from the lights is starting to
flicker and dim. Windows turn off, second by second. The window cleaning personnel raise
themselves up on their scaffolds to start their nightly work; cleaning each window of Willis Tower,
home of the Skydeck. An ABC News helicopter flies by with four passengers aboard. I am one of
those passengers – a news reporter, reporting a standstill traffic jam. To imagine myself as just a
maraca shaped dot in the sky is above my, so to say, "Imagination limit." "Three, two, one, on air."

I was excited – I got my internet back after two weeks of doing enormous amounts of work on the
laptops at school; and they were not easy to type on. It was not much of a surprise that I would think
of that first. I do play my games every day, but I got cold, so I went to get some hot cocoa from the
kitchen. I walked to the kitchen, and saw a bowl with buttered popcorn filled halfway to the top. I
picked up a hot chocolate mix packet labeled "Swiss Miss – Open here." I ripped it open and some
coffee brown dust flew out of the top. I grabbed a mug and poured all of the contents in the mug. I
set the microwave for one minute and thirty seconds. I didn't think even how much time I set the
microwave to because I dashed from my laptop. Once I logged onto my computer, I smelled a heavy
stench of smoke, and it was not by a cigarette being lit. I rushed back to the kitchen and there was
the microwave, but I could not see it. Flames engulfed the microwave in mere seconds. I tried to
cease the flame with water but it didn't touch it. Time froze at that single moment, and so did my
mind. I couldn't think, I couldn't talk, I couldn't even move. The water fell beside the fire, not even
inching toward it. I woke up my mom as soon as possible and tried to get out everyone else but I
was trapped. I was cornered and my only way is no possible way. I was staring off into space. The

Cowgirl Chocolate Analysis
Cowgirl Chocolates Analysis Cowgirl chocolates are the design of Marilyn Lysohir and her
husband, Ross Coates in 1997. Marilyn is a ceramicist and lecturer who is internationally known
and has a successful ceramic art business. Ross is a sculptor and a professor of fine arts at a nearby
University. As a labor of love, Marilyn and Ross began publishing a once–a–year arts magazine
called High Ground. More a multimedia product than a magazine, the 600–copy production of this
product does not pay for itself, so Marilyn and Ross have continually sought other ways to provide
income to cover the costs of production for High Ground. Cowgirl Chocolates began as one of those
ways. "Cowgirl Chocolates" offer three types of products; chocolate ... Show more content on

It is also at this point that I do become critical of Marilyn and how she utilizes outside help. The fact
of the matter is that she does not embrace some much needed professional business help. She could
have turned to the SBA which as been around since 1953 and they have a wealth of experience and
advice for her. Marilyn even said herself that she was not a finance savvy person. Both Marilyn and
her husband are passionate about cowgirl chocolates because they want it to supplement their one–
issue–a–year magazine, which, considering the lack of success that they have seen may not be
feasible. The central issue ad hand here is how to cut unnecessary costs to promote Cowgirl
Chocolates more effectively? When asked to describe what the appropriate stage of the
entrepreneurial process for this situation is a tricky one. First I would debate that Cowgirl
Chocolates is not a successful business idea which would put Cowgirl Chocolates barely at step 2.
One could also look at this situation and say that Marilyn would be at step 4 of the entrepreneurial
process because she is currently managing her entrepreneurial firm no matter how poorly she still
has a physical firm that she is conducting business through it. Alternative strategy: Marilyn could
spend more money on improving her website so that it functions more effectively and brings in
more business. The pros are that the new web design would give a fresh and

The Chocolate Controversy
Chocolate has been present throughout the ages starting out as a delicacy for the upper class to now
being a candy that everyone enjoys from time to time. But, there is controversy around whether
chocolate can be considered a healthy food. I believe that chocolates health benefits outweigh the
negative aspects associated with this treat. There are numerous studies that link chocolate to
cardiovascular benefits, lowering blood pressure, and providing antioxidants. Therefore, I believe
chocolate can be considered a healthy food in moderation just like any other food group.Chocolate
originated from Mexico where an ancient tribe known as the Olmecs first domesticated the plant and
used the beans (Scholey et al 2013). This tribe believed that the

Becoming A Successful Product Market
Starting a business has its already difficult nature to it, however, starting a business with two dollars
as a maximum start up reveals another challenging aspect. As a small business owner, you must
make very professional and thorough decisions for a successful product market fit. As my partner
Olivia Daechsel and I bonded over the idea to sell hot chocolate, we never understood the
difficulties nor the minor mistakes made that can easily set back a company. Although this venture
would be considered a success as we made profit, there were minor improvements during our initial
planning that are necessary to correct if we were to expand our company.
Choosing a product or service to create and sell was primarily a struggle for my partner Olivia
Daechsel and I. After consideration of our target demographic, the transitioning weather, as well as
purpose for selling this product, we agreed upon a hot chocolate stand. My partner and I arranged to
sell this hot chocolate near the Killam Library as we were aware of the large student population that
walks past this location. From personal experiences, Daechsel and I were cognizant that selling hot
chocolate would allure customers as individuals would prefer a warm drink on a cold day. Hot
chocolate as well became a desire to sell as it is not provided in residence, and coffee and other
warm drinks are not admired by all. With these concepts but into consideration, Daechsel and I were
reassured that our product would be great to

Aztec Culture: Hot Chocolate Or Just Cocoa
History
Hot chocolate which is also called hot cocoa, drinking chocolate or just cocoa. It is a heated
beverage consisting of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate or cocoa powder, heated milk or water,
and often sugar. Hot chocolate made with melted chocolate is sometimes known as drinking
chocolate, characterized by less sweetness and a thicker consistency.
Around 2,000 years ago, the first chocolate beverage is considered to have been created by the
Aztecs, and a cocoa beverage was an important part of Aztec culture by 1400 AD. After being
introduced from Mexico in the New World, the beverage became famous in Europe and has
undergone multiple changes since then. (Michael, 2017)

Different types of chocolate can be made by adding different amount of butter and liquor. Molding
is the last process for chocolate after blending is done. This step allows cocoa liquor to cool and
harden into different shapes depending on the mold. In the end, the chocolate is packaged and
distributed around the world. (Quarterly Bulletin of Cocoa Statistics,1998)
Serving Hot Chocolate
There are two vital ways of serving hot chocolate which are long drink or short drink. The short hot
chocolate will be serving in an espresso cup. The most common one is the long drink. Someone said
that, the powder makes the best full flavoured hot chocolate. (Beverage Standards Association,
1996)
Thoughts about that product and what makes it so special
Personally, I like plain dark chocolate the most. Few years ago, I started to eat or drink dark
chocolate for a reason. As I can't consume milk, I barely take milk chocolate. Thus, I tried dark
chocolate, and I love it deeply after I consumed. I started to search for the benefit of dark chocolate,
I found that it can improve our health. Cocoa butter, which is extracted from the cacao bean and
incorporated into most reputable dark chocolate bars, is mostly monounsaturated and saturated fat,
with very little polyunsaturated fat. And because most of that saturated fat is stearic acid, widely
known for having neutral effects on LDL, even avowed lipophobes can happily and heartily gobble

Hot Chocolate Cookies Essay
The name of the recipe I will be making is Mexican hot chocolate cookies. The reason I chose
Mexican hot chocolate cookies is I find this cookie super unique in taste and texture compared to
other cookies. It is fairly simple to make. I learned how to make these cookies with my mother. It
was not for a special occasion, we just wanted to try a new recipe. Our family often packages the
cookies, three per bag, to take to the military base and distribute to the security forces folks on duty.
They really appreciate being thought of. They often tease my mother saying it has been too long
since she brought them by. There are stories of people hiding them from their spouse or family
members. The recipe originally appeared on Martha Stewart's website. My mother made some
changes to the recipe along the way. It is best to gather all of the ingredients and equipment before
you begin to prepare the recipe. One important tip is to set the butter on the counter for twenty
minutes before starting the recipe. We learned quickly that the temperature of the butter plays a big
role in how the cookies turn out. Consequently, if the butter is too warm the cookies spread out
while baking. We determined that somewhere between twenty and thirty minutes is best. The
equipment needed for this recipe is: Equipment: parchment paper, a medium size bowl, a large bowl,
a hand mixer or stand mixer, mixing spoon, measuring spoons, sifter, spatula, cookie scoop, fork and
two cookie sheets. The

down notes, writing lengthy scientific notations into his worn little book. Anya sets her stainless
steel canteen near the fire, watching it boil before ripping open a pack of instant hot cocoa. Not any
standard–issue hot cocoa either. She snuck that shit in.
"Feel like sharing?" I ask, feeling my mouth salivate at the thought of the tiny little marshmallows
floating in the sugary chocolate.
"Not on your life," she retorts with a wicked little smile.

ungloved hands in the emanating heat. She leans over, cocking her head in the direction of Jules and

I Am No Taller Than Three Feet
I stand no taller than three feet, even with the monster–sized boots hiding my feet from the frigid air
on the lake. The bright orange hat falls over my eyes as I struggle to keep up with my dad. I slip a
bit on the ice and let out a shrill scream before getting ready to hit the ground, but I don 't feel any
pain. I open my eyes to see that my superhero had swooped me up and saved the day. I wrap my
slender arms around his neck, hugging him. He carries me the rest of the way to the small lakeside
restaurant. When he sets me down on the ground again, my boots make a loud bang on the wooden
floor. A few heads turn towards us. One specific person that I notice is an old man who's grey hair
hangs a bit too long. His scruffy looking beard reminds me of my grandfather.
I waddle after my dad to the tall stools by the counter. I try to climb up by myself but I am much too
short. Dad picks me up again and sets me on the seat. He helps me unzip my jacket so that I don't
get too hot in the heated room. I look over at my dad and smile. It is the first time that we get to go
ice fishing for what seems like years but it's really only been about two weeks. He smiles back as a
waiter comes up to us. My dad asks if I 'd rather drink hot cocoa or chocolate milk. "Hot cocoa

The Evolution Of Medicinal Chocolate
The Evolution of Medicinal Chocolate No more guilt! From age to age, the knowledge and usage of
chocolate has vastly grown. Part of this knowledge comes from searching the past and modern
technology studies. Since the beginning of the use of chocolate and cacao in its native lands, the
medicinal value of chocolate has evolved, while enticing and capturing the palates of cultures past
and present. Diseases have existed since the beginning of time. However, chocolate use began in the
early American civilizations to treat those diseases (Norton 14). Although chocolate was reserved
for those of high social standing in society, it was used for medicine, as written about in the notes of
European explorers during the 1500s and 1600s (Lippi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2060S). In addition to curing digestive issues, chocolate was used to treat the common cold and flu
(Dillinger et al. 2060S). Fever, faintness, and wet coughs were healed by drinking a mixture of
chocolate and various herbs and grains (Dillinger et al. 2060S). Chocolate use in the early
American's medicine did not only act as a healing mechanism, but as a vehicle to relief (Dillinger et
al. 2060S). The valued flavor of chocolate was a mask for the unpleasant tastes of other herbal
medications (Dillinger et al. 2060S). The early civilizations of the Americas passed their knowledge
of chocolate from generation to generation. As these generations passed, the Age of Exploration
began, and the knowledge was then tossed across the Atlantic Ocean (Lippi 1575). The recipe of
chocolate has changed during its voyage; however, many of its medicinal properties were studied,
expanded, or even proved wrong (Norton 16). Some researchers found chocolate to inhibit
digestion, while others agreed with its original use accounts (Dillinger et al. 2064S, 2069S).
European studies, overall, were found to be in agreement with the early use of chocolate to disguise
the flavor of other prescriptions and in its treatment of the common cold (Dillinger et al. 2065S,
2069S). Despite not mothering chocolate from its beginnings, in their adoption of it, the Europeans
took chocolate use to a greater level. Chocolate became more than medicine: it became

Theobromine Research Paper
Although discovered by A. Woskresensky in 1841, and synthesized by E. Fischer in 1882,
theobromine can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as the Aztecs. With seven carbon, eight
hydrogen, four nitrogen, and two oxygen atoms, theobromine's chemical formula is C7H8N4O2,
and can be found in the beans of the cocoa plant, tea leaves, or kola nuts. From the hulls of the
cocoa beans, theobromine can be extracted, coming out to be a white powder. The largest supply of
these cocoa beans, more than 70% of them, originates from western African countries, where they
are harvested on plantations, and then packed and sold to chocolate companies. These companies
will then sell the delicious treat for the public to enjoy in a plethora of ways. Theobromine has had a
major impact on history, ranging from shaping cultures to being a part of life saving medicines.

As mentioned earlier, 70% of cocoa beans come from plantations in western African countries.
However, most workers on these plantations are child slaves who are abused, not paid, and confined
to grueling labor for years and years. Many of these unfortunate children aren't over the age of
sixteen yet they are forced to work from dusk till dawn. To add to this, there are a great amount of
dangerous throughout the plantation. These include exposure to toxic, agricultural chemicals on the
cocoa beans, being forced to use dangerous machetes in work, and being crushed by hundred pound
bags of packed cocoa beans. The conditions that they live in are no better either. From sleeping on
planks of wood as a bed to being fed the bare minimum of the cheapest food, most of these children
don't even receive basic education. One of the worst parts of this tragedy is that chocolate
companies know what is happening yet they continue to receive cocoa from child slaves, and then

farmer cannot earn enough money to employ adult employer. In Ivory Coast, the traffickers are very
enthusiastic in Ivory Coast to transport the children cross the boundary of Ivory Coast illegally and
bring these children to the employer. The worse thing is these children never get paid. Moreover, the
employer deprives these children's human right and force them to work in the cocoa field. If
children want to escape, they will get abused or even get killed. In order to prevent child slavery
keep deteriorating. In 2001, United State establishes a policy which claims 'no child slave labor'
labeling requirement on every coca product.

Personal Narrative: My NHS Peers At The Hot Chocolate Run
I am a leader when it comes to multiple things. In my choir, I'm the section leader for the baritones.
In group projects, I often take charge of planning the project in order to ensure that it gets done in
the best way possible. One of the most notable times I took a leadership position was when I
volunteered with a group of my NHS peers at the Hot Chocolate Run in downtown Chicago. As
more and more people began to finish the race, the lines where we were serving hot chocolate
became really hectic and crowded. I decided to take leadership and usher people into different lines,
as well as tell everyone to have their tickets ready when they got to the counter, even though I was
not told to do that. In doing this, I expedited the process of handing

It was a lovely Thursday morning in the Herndon household. All was normal, well as normal as
things could be considering the Herdons were a family of marshmallows that lived inside of a
gingerbread house. The Herndons were sitting at the table eating their family breakfast, when
suddenly Sarah, the eldest of the Herndon children, noted that there was an empty seat at the table.

By the time Mr. Bellamy had finished his explanation, the salt had almost completely dissolved
Audrey to the floor. She was crying at this point, which didn't help matters as the salt from the tears
only served as a catalyst for the reaction that was occurring. "I promise I'll never be irresponsible

"You mean... I didn't melt? Tori didn't eat me? We don't live in a gingerbread house?" She said as
she wiped the tears from her face.
From that moment on, Audrey had learned her lesson. She would never be a slacker again. She

Your Best Bet: Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
Cocoa powder is the preferred ingredient for giving chocolate desserts their flavor and color. It is
what is used in most chocolate cake recipes as well as in recipes for brownies, chocolate pudding
and homemade chocolate ice cream. If you find that you are out of cocoa powder and don't have
time to get any, you may be able to find other ingredients capable of filling its role. Note that when
choosing a cocoa powder substitute, you will need to look for one that provides the right flavor
without altering the texture of your recipe. Your Best Bet: Unsweetened Baking Chocolate

that they have many of the same flavor components. They are both made ... Show more content on

This means that for every ounce of it that you add, you will need to remove a tablespoon of fat from
the recipe. If you are using 2 ounces of baking chocolate, remove two tablespoons of butter or
shortening from the recipe. You will also need to melt your baking chocolate before use. You can do
this in a heavy saucepan over low heat, and stir with a whisk until it is completely melted. To
minimize the potential for scorching, melt the chocolate in a metal or glass bowl over a pot of
simmering water. A Decent Second Choice: Carob Powder
Carob is the best–known chocolate substitute and comes from the carob tree. The tree produces pods
with a pulp that can be dried and powdered to make this chocolate substitute. The flavor of carob
powder is not identical to that of chocolate as it lacks much of the distinctive bitterness; however, it
is close enough to make a decent alternative and it does look a lot like cocoa powder. Carob powder
is used as a 1:1 substitute for cocoa powder, which means that you use exactly the same amount of it
that your recipe requires for cocoa powder. In a Pinch: Hot Cocoa

Descriptive Essay About Hot Chocolate
Scurrying along the copper colored brick road, people moved their way through the crowd. My
family and I were new to the state of Washington, and eager to explore the Pike Place Market.
Tourists crowded in front of the original Starbucks, taking pictures and forming a line. I shifted my
weight and waited impatiently in the filled to the brim coffee shop.
"How much longer?" I whined, crossing my arms and pouting my lips. The line was moving at
sluggish speed, and I was ready for my hot chocolate. After a moment of chatter, my parents decided
that me and my sister could wait outside and people watch. Relieved, and walking out of the shop,
we were welcomed by the cool fall air and rustle of coats.
The street was filled with strange items and odd people. Passing a couple of street singers, we
spotted a living statue. Covered all in silver, resembling a tin man, in a kneeling position. As we
passed, its eyes followed our gaze until we were again enveloped by the crowd. My sister jerked her
arm, looked back and quickened her walking speed.
Trying to catch up, I yelled, "Camryn, slow down! Why are you walking so fast?" She grabbed my
hand and dashed inside a nearby antique store. Looking out of the hazy window, she scanned the
exterior for the Starbucks. But her eyes stopped dead at the spot where the living statue had kneeled.
She looked back at me and looked as if she had seen a ghost. She said four words.
"The statue is gone."
Looking through the crowd, her eyes swept over

How Chocolate Has Impacted Our Health And The Economy
People throughout the United States often turn to chocolate for a sweet treat. We eat chocolate when
we feel stressed, and we purchase tons of chocolate for holidays and parties. There are so many
types and brands of chocolates that are so readily available, and people often do not take the time to
understand the history of chocolate. How many people actually know where chocolate comes from,
or how chocolate is even made? How often do we think about the impact that the incorporation of
chocolate into our diets have impacted our health and the economy? In this paper, I will discuss the
history and cultural significance of chocolate, as well as the health benefits and consequences that
come from eating chocolate. I will begin my essay with statistics that reflect chocolate production in
the United States over the last few years. According to the World Cocoa Foundation, "The U.S.
chocolate industry is comprised of approximately 400 companies that manufacture more than 90%
of the chocolate and confectionery products; another 250 companies supply those manufacturers."
Chocolate is produced in over thirty American states, and is heavily concentrated in states such as
Pennsylvania, New York and California. Hershey, Pennsylvania also known as "Chocolatetown,
USA" and "The Sweetest Place on Earth", is the home to the original Hershey's Chocolate factory
and Hersheypark. The World Cocoa Foundation also reports that "for every dollar of cocoa

Chocolate: Central America
Chocolate is a candy containing lots to almost no sugar. It is loved across the whole world and
Americans buy an average of 2.8 billion pounds of chocolate a year. So chocolate is very famous,
but how is it made. Chocolate was originated from central America. It is made from a cacao bean.
Chocolate goes through a long process, it starts with picking a cacao bean from a tree which are
usually found in humid tropical areas. The cacao bean is picked then taken to a factory where it is
roasted in hot ovens. The point of putting a cacao bean in an oven is to dry and darken the bean. I
know this because in the article "How is Chocolate Made? From Bean to Bar" it states, " The heat
brings out more flavor and aroma, and it dries and darkens the beans."

The cost of producing the chocolates far exceeds the expense of producing. Adding a $3000
advertisement is moving in the wrong direction as this cannot guarantee a boost of sales. Marilyn
should focus on convincing magazines and newspapers to run stories about her products as
previously covered in the local newspapers. The $3000 advertisement is focused more on a picture
instead of information about a product that consumers need to know more about. This form of
advertising works better for products that consumers are more familiar with. What separate Cowgirl
Chocolate from its competition is its high quality and the unique ingredients that contribute to its
taste. This should be the focus of her advertisement. Marilyn should listen to consumers and
introduce her new idea of mild mannered Cowgirl Chocolates in order to expand her market. The
market for the hot and spicy chocolates is limited and may not be sufficient to cover the fixed costs
of producing and distributing Cowgirl Chocolates. The introduction of mild mannered Cowgirl
Chocolates would increase her target market and open new doors for entry into upscale outlets like

Case Study : Clare's Chocolates
CASE STUDY: CLARE'S CHOCOLATES
1. The basic characteristics of the marketing concept that could be identified in Clare's Chocolates
are as follows:
a. Word of Mouth
Clare's Chocolate Cafes use word of mouth marketing vs. more traditional avenues of marketing.
This fits in with the organization's focus on providing high quality chocolate products to customers.
As the perception of a quality product is subjective, people tend to believe the opinions of friends or
associates when they describe a product and say that it is good, of high quality, and whether or not it
is worth the price paid. It's about earning the respect and trust of customers and gaining new
customers when they refer a product to a friend. Word of mouth is also a good business decision
because it reduces the cost of advertising. The organization is duty bound, by this practice, to always
been relevant and on top of product quality, service delivery and customer satisfaction.
b. Product Quality
Clare's Chocolate Cafes has always used good quality cocoa to make their chocolate products. This
is, in itself, an amazing marketing product because customers know that while they may be paying a
little bit more, the product is worth it. As well, the organization makes a wise customer draw when
each hot beverage is served with a high quality chocolate product. The early practice of making
chocolate products by hand and providing individual or pre–packaged products, of all sizes, for the
customer to select, was

So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really did.
I guess that's just the type of person I was, someone who just hopped on a train for the ride. I always
liked trains. I don't know what it was about them, but for some reason or another, I always found
myself lounging in the same spot drinking hot cocoa. People always said that hot chocolate "was
only for kids" but I never got that; I had a pretty strong distaste for coffee. Honestly, I hate it, the
way it makes your teeth gritty to the point where you need something else to drink. I can't even

However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I
named this man Frank and created a story for him when another man caught my eye. It was his coat.
It was an expensive Ted Baker peacoat which was impressive for how young he was. I worked out
frequently and could tell by his body that he had been skipping leg day. His chest, however, was
ridiculously huge, almost as if it wasn't even real. My eyes drifted towards the right of the train. I
began to critique a young blonde when the man with the jacket began to walk in my direction. He
was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated up. I couldn't believe
what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb strapped to his chest. Spending the next few minutes
convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began to panic. Next thing I
know, he's busting out of the bathroom with a gun and I was forced to prepare for what was going to
happen next. It didn't take long for everybody on the train to panic. It rushed through each row as
the sobs and cries made their way to every passenger. It was an orchestra of agony and it

Is Chocolate Physiologically or Psychologically Addictive?
Chocolate is made from the seeds of the tropical tree, Theobroma cacao. Theobroma is the Greek
term for 'food of the gods.' In Aztec society chocolate was a food of the gods, reserved for priests,
warriors and nobility. The Aztecs used cacao beans to make a hot, frothy and bitter beverage called
chocolatl. Chocolatl was a sacred concoction that was associated with fertility and wisdom. It was
also thought to have stimulating and restorative properties. The bitter drink was first introduced to
Europe in 1528. However, it was not until 1876 that milk, cocoa powder and cocoa butter were
combined to form what we now know as chocolate (1).

This may be why women report to prefer chocolate to sex. However, tests have shown that most of
the phenylethylamine in chocolate is broken down before it reaches the brain. So, the amount of
phenylethylamine that actually reaches the brain is unknown (1), (3).
Theobromine is a close structural relative of caffeine, but has one–tenth the stimulating effect
caffeine has. Although theobromine is a weak stimulant, it can increase pulse rate. And, withdrawal
from theobromine has been found to cause migraines. The level of theobromine in commercial
chocolate varies from bar to bar. Milk chocolate bars contain the lowest levels of theobromine.
Thus, it is unlikely that theobromine alone is responsible for chocolate cravings (3), (4).
In the mid–nineties a study done by Doniele Piomelli and his coworkers found that chocolate
contains substances that mimic the effects of marijuana. Piomelli found that anandamide, produced
naturally in the brain and also found in chocolate, activates the same cellular receptors as THC, the
agent in marijuana that causes a person to feel "high". When a person smokes marijuana THC goes
into the brain and activates all cannabinoid receptors. Enzymes break down anandamide shortly
after it is produced by the brain, thus limiting the duration of the pleasurable "high". Chocolate does
not contain enough anandamide to produce

A Short Story : A Story?
A silver car came to a stop infront of the vacant house in the culdesac, a simplistic trailer house. The
passenger side door opened first, as a lean, boyish looking teenager stepped out, sporting a plain red
and black T–shirt, black shorts, red shoes and a Pittsburgh Pirates hat that went over short, dirty
blonde hair. The driver's door opened as what can be assumed to be the mother, but didn't seem like
it. She was wider with brownish red hair that wore a "Dropkick Murphy's" shirt and jeans. The two
exchanged a few words as they reached the back of the car, the trunk popping up that held four
boxes. More words exchanged as the two pick up the boxes and enter the house, everything in the
house was furnished, due to the two coming a week before. "Ready for a new chapter?" The mother
asked, giving the taller boy a hug, who just gave a shrug. "I know you're nervous, from what
happened last time–" the boy flinched back a bit. "–but i doubt it'll happen." The boy nodded,
seeming to be a bit shaken. "Thanks.." he mumbled, glancing at the kitchen area, which had tan
walls and white tile floor. "did you buy hot chocolate, or do i need to drive and get some?" he asked.
"I forgot to, but i got everything else." The mom replied. "The winters here are colder than those in
Pennsylvania. maybe once you make a few friends, you can invite them over to play games and

Is There Child Slavery In Your Chocolate Analysis
In "Is There Child Slavery in Your Chocolate?" John Robbins describes how Hershey's abuse labor
forces and how other major companies deter that from happening in their chocolate. Robbins
explains that the Hershey "company purchases the primary ingredient in its products from sources
notorious for abusive labor practices..."(1) Robbins emphasizes that Ivory Coast provides forty–
three percent of the world's supply of cocoa beans. He explains that in "...West Africa, particularly
Ivory Coast, where Hershey sources its cocoa, and that forced or involuntary child labor was
common in these areas"(1) Robbins states that there have been thousands of children who were

A major chocolate company like Hershey's should have the incentive to do something about the
children who endure torture working on the cocoa farms where they get their supply, instead they
don't do anything. As Robbins states, "...allows Hershey's CEO, David J. West, to make $8 million a
year while unpaid children are forced to labor under cruel conditions..."(1) this shows that Hershey
has no interest in doing anything to help these poor children. The mention of child slavery, also
reminds me of the little girls who get sold for sex trafficking. Its unfair to these kids who end up in
situations like this and the abuse they get. Another reason I agree with Robbins is the developmental
process of the products. By ensuring that the products are Fair Trade Certified it allows us, as
consumers to know that the products we buy are safe and handled right. Lastly I agree because of
the environment and by also ensuring that it's either Fair Trade Certified or is a part of the
Rainforest Alliance it allows us to know that we aren't hurting the environment. Most people don't
want to hurt the environment that we have left because we want to preserve what we have and save

All You Want to Know About Chocolate Introduction The reason I decided to do my research paper

ground cocoa and sugar bits in a rich cocoa butter. This fatty delicious cocoa butter melts at exactly

when you bite into a solid piece of chocolate it melts in your mouth within a few seconds. But

There was a vessel found at an Olmec archaeological site on the gulf of Veracruz, Mexico that dates
chocolate's preparation by pre–Olmec peoples as early as 1750 B.C. On the Pacific coast Chiapas,
Mexico, a Mokaya archeological site provides evidence of cacao beverages dating even earlier, to
1900 B.C. Based on the evidence left behind at these sites it appears that cacao was not only used to
make a drink but that the white pulp found around the cacao seed was probably used too to make
fermentable sugars for a drink. An early Mayan tomb found at the Rio Azul site had vessels with the
Maya glyph for cacao on them that contained residue of some type of chocolate drink. Finding this
evidence suggests that the Mayans were drinking chocolate around 400 A.D. Documents that have
been found written in Maya hieroglyphs appear to express that chocolate was used not only for
ceremonial purposes but also for everyday life. It seems that the Mayans grew cacao trees in their
backyards, and used the seeds of the tree to make frothy chocolate drinks. During the l 5th century
the Aztecs gained control of a large part of Mesoamerica and they too adopted cacao into their
culture. Unlike the Mayans who liked to drink warm chocolate the Aztecs liked it coliJ~ also liked
to season it with many unique spices. Because their home is in the Mexican Highlands and this is
not adequate for the growth of the cacao plant, they could not grow their own trees. This made

The pods are cut open with machetes to reveal between 20 to 40 beans each, surrounded by a mass
of stickly, white pulp. Traditionally, this was done immediately after harvest; today, pods are
sometimes first stored whole for a few days to prime them for fermentation. Fermenting begins
when the beans come into contact with the air. Here, a workrt uses a stick to gauge the depth of the
mass in a vara, or measuring box, to determine the wage of the harvester, before transferring it to the
fermentation bin. During fermentation, the pulp disintegrates, producing steamy heat and a
pervasive, yeasty, sour smell. It is at this point that the beans first develop thier complex
characteristics. Drying of the beans after fermentation is done on slatted wooden trays in the open
air. The beans are spread out evenly and raked periodically so that they dry uniformly. As the beans
dry, their colors deepen, turning them into a carpet of sepia, umber, and mocha. Aeration of the dried
beans during storage is important to prevent the formation of mold. A worker tosses beans with a
shovel to expose them evenly to the air. Grading of the beans is done mechanically at the larger
farms; smaller producers do it by hand. From baskets, the dried beans are transferred to burlap bags
and transported to local selling stations, where they may be bought by large companies for export.
Arriving at the chocolate mills, the beans undergo

By the way it was 6am. I was for the first time in my life eager to learn. I saw my dad snoring at his bed. I wondered to myself if he could possibly remember that he had to teach my how to ride a bike. I never imagined in my little childish brain that my dad was such a heavy sleeper. So I did not want to be rude or anything like that. After my realization I took responsibility of not waking up my dad by playing video games. It was 8am and there was a really competitive game going on in Overwatch. But before it even started I heard footsteps storming towards the living room. I kept thinking that I was in trouble because I immediately recognized that it was my dad. He told me "why are you playing video games? I thought you were going to wake me up!" My response was priceless "I thought you forgot about me and my desire to learn biking". Then after what I said he realized that he is not giving me much attention that I need and he told me "I promise to you that I will spent my entire day with you". So with no denial I went to my closet and I wore my gloves and jacket so that I could go outside in the snow. After when I got dressed up I took my all new bike outside in the snow. Hoping that I would not hurt myself I took a shovel and I cleaned a small little path for me to ride my bike along it. Later on my dad came out of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Case Study Of Butler's Chocolates Butler's Chocolates is an Irish, family owned company set up in the year 1932. It was founded by Marion Butler, a pioneer who began creating her own luxury chocolates by hand in Lad Lane in Dublin and named it 'Chez Nous Chocolates'. Marion Butler was originally born in India but moved to Ireland when she was very young where she set up this company and ran it until 1959. She then sold it to Seamus Sorensen and the Sorensen family are still running this business to date. (About Us: Butlers Chocolates, n.d.). The company set up their first retail store in 1960 in the Grafton Arcade and their first Butler's Chocolate café in 1998 on Wicklow Street in Dublin. If a certain chocolate or flavour is not selling they could make the decision to discontinue the particular sweet or start again with a new recipe. Transaction Processing Systems Because Butlers Chocolates own many retail stores and cafes, the company would mainly go by the point of sale concept which David Ingram describes as 'the place and time at which a transaction takes place, whenever a buyer and seller come together for the purpose of conducting a transaction' (Ingram, n.d.). This would include when customers pay for their goods by cash over the counter straight into cash registers or by card with credit card processors. Ingram explains how this point of sale comes hand–in–hand with transaction processing systems (Ingram, n.d.). Butler's website provides customers with a service where they have the ability to purchase goods online and have them delivered to their home. This booking system is a real–time processing system. When a customer buys a product off the company online, they receive an email confirming their delivery when their package has been dispatched and they can also track their order. • 9. A Report On The Night Everyone sleeps at certain times. Chicago's imminent seeming glow from the lights is starting to flicker and dim. Windows turn off, second by second. The window cleaning personnel raise themselves up on their scaffolds to start their nightly work; cleaning each window of Willis Tower, home of the Skydeck. An ABC News helicopter flies by with four passengers aboard. I am one of those passengers – a news reporter, reporting a standstill traffic jam. To imagine myself as just a maraca shaped dot in the sky is above my, so to say, "Imagination limit." "Three, two, one, on air." It was not much of a surprise that I would think of that first. I do play my games every day, but I got cold, so I went to get some hot cocoa from the kitchen. I walked to the kitchen, and saw a bowl with buttered popcorn filled halfway to the top. I picked up a hot chocolate mix packet labeled "Swiss Miss – Open here." I ripped it open and some coffee brown dust flew out of the top. I grabbed a mug and poured all of the contents in the mug. I set the microwave for one minute and thirty seconds. I didn't think even how much time I set the microwave to because I dashed from my laptop. Once I logged onto my computer, I smelled a heavy stench of smoke, and it was not by a cigarette being lit. I rushed back to the kitchen and there was the microwave, but I could not see it. Flames engulfed the microwave in mere seconds. I tried to cease the flame with water but it didn't touch it. Time froze at that single moment, and so did my mind. I couldn't think, I couldn't talk, I couldn't even move. The water fell beside the fire, not even inching toward it. Marilyn is a ceramicist and lecturer who is internationally known and has a successful ceramic art business. Ross is a sculptor and a professor of fine arts at a nearby University. As a labor of love, Marilyn and Ross began publishing a once–a–year arts magazine called High Ground. More a multimedia product than a magazine, the 600–copy production of this product does not pay for itself, so Marilyn and Ross have continually sought other ways to provide income to cover the costs of production for High Ground. Cowgirl Chocolates began as one of those ways. "Cowgirl Chocolates" offer three types of products; chocolate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also at this point that I do become critical of Marilyn and how she utilizes outside help. The fact of the matter is that she does not embrace some much needed professional business help. She could have turned to the SBA which as been around since 1953 and they have a wealth of experience and advice for her. Marilyn even said herself that she was not a finance savvy person. Both Marilyn and her husband are passionate about cowgirl chocolates because they want it to supplement their one– issue–a–year magazine, which, considering the lack of success that they have seen may not be feasible. The central issue ad hand here is how to cut unnecessary costs to promote Cowgirl Chocolates more effectively? When asked to describe what the appropriate stage of the entrepreneurial process for this situation is a tricky one. First I would debate that Cowgirl Chocolates is not a successful business idea which would put Cowgirl Chocolates barely at step 2. One could also look at this situation and say that Marilyn would be at step 4 of the entrepreneurial process because she is currently managing her entrepreneurial firm no matter how poorly she still has a physical firm that she is conducting business through it. Alternative strategy: Marilyn could spend more money on improving her website so that it functions more effectively and brings in more business. The pros are that the new web design would give a fresh and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, there is controversy around whether chocolate can be considered a healthy food. I believe that chocolates health benefits outweigh the negative aspects associated with this treat. Becoming A Successful Product Market Starting a business has its already difficult nature to it, however, starting a business with two dollars as a maximum start up reveals another challenging aspect. As a small business owner, you must make very professional and thorough decisions for a successful product market fit. As my partner Olivia Daechsel and I bonded over the idea to sell hot chocolate, we never understood the difficulties nor the minor mistakes made that can easily set back a company. Although this venture would be considered a success as we made profit, there were minor improvements during our initial planning that are necessary to correct if we were to expand our company. Choosing a product or service to create and sell was primarily a struggle for my partner Olivia Daechsel and I. After consideration of our target demographic, the transitioning weather, as well as purpose for selling this product, we agreed upon a hot chocolate stand. My partner and I arranged to sell this hot chocolate near the Killam Library as we were aware of the large student population that walks past this location. From personal experiences, Daechsel and I were cognizant that selling hot chocolate would allure customers as individuals would prefer a warm drink on a cold day. Hot chocolate as well became a desire to sell as it is not provided in residence, and coffee and other warm drinks are not admired by all. • 24. Aztec Culture: Hot Chocolate Or Just Cocoa History Hot chocolate which is also called hot cocoa, drinking chocolate or just cocoa. It is a heated beverage consisting of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate or cocoa powder, heated milk or water, and often sugar. Hot chocolate made with melted chocolate is sometimes known as drinking chocolate, characterized by less sweetness and a thicker consistency. Around 2,000 years ago, the first chocolate beverage is considered to have been created by the Aztecs, and a cocoa beverage was an important part of Aztec culture by 1400 AD. After being introduced from Mexico in the New World, the beverage became famous in Europe and has undergone multiple changes since then. (Quarterly Bulletin of Cocoa Statistics,1998) Serving Hot Chocolate There are two vital ways of serving hot chocolate which are long drink or short drink. The short hot chocolate will be serving in an espresso cup. The most common one is the long drink. Someone said that, the powder makes the best full flavoured hot chocolate. (Beverage Standards Association, 1996) Thoughts about that product and what makes it so special Personally, I like plain dark chocolate the most. Few years ago, I started to eat or drink dark chocolate for a reason. As I can't consume milk, I barely take milk chocolate. Thus, I tried dark chocolate, and I love it deeply after I consumed. I started to search for the benefit of dark chocolate, I found that it can improve our health. Cocoa butter, which is extracted from the cacao bean and incorporated into most reputable dark chocolate bars, is mostly monounsaturated and saturated fat, with very little polyunsaturated fat. And because most of that saturated fat is stearic acid, widely known for having neutral effects on LDL, even avowed lipophobes can happily and heartily gobble ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Hot Chocolate Cookies Essay The name of the recipe I will be making is Mexican hot chocolate cookies. The reason I chose Mexican hot chocolate cookies is I find this cookie super unique in taste and texture compared to other cookies. It is fairly simple to make. I learned how to make these cookies with my mother. It was not for a special occasion, we just wanted to try a new recipe. Our family often packages the cookies, three per bag, to take to the military base and distribute to the security forces folks on duty. They really appreciate being thought of. They often tease my mother saying it has been too long since she brought them by. There are stories of people hiding them from their spouse or family members. The recipe originally appeared on Martha Stewart's website. My mother made some changes to the recipe along the way. It is best to gather all of the ingredients and equipment before you begin to prepare the recipe. One important tip is to set the butter on the counter for twenty minutes before starting the recipe. We learned quickly that the temperature of the butter plays a big role in how the cookies turn out. Consequently, if the butter is too warm the cookies spread out while baking. We determined that somewhere between twenty and thirty minutes is best. The equipment needed for this recipe is: Equipment: parchment paper, a medium size bowl, a large bowl, a hand mixer or stand mixer, mixing spoon, measuring spoons, sifter, spatula, cookie scoop, fork and two cookie sheets. "We need to set up camp," Mana notes. "Right," I say, digging into my bag for my personal tent. "What do you say we get away from this cliff, first?" I propose. Phillip is ferociously jotting down notes, writing lengthy scientific notations into his worn little book. Anya sets her stainless steel canteen near the fire, watching it boil before ripping open a pack of instant hot cocoa. Not any standard–issue hot cocoa either. She snuck that shit in. "Feel like sharing?" I ask, feeling my mouth salivate at the thought of the tiny little marshmallows floating in the sugary chocolate. "Not on your life," she retorts with a wicked little smile. "I'm hurt," I exaggerate, slapping a hand against my chest in mock heartbreak. She giggles and sips her hot chocolate, taunting me with her enjoyment. Mana comes and sits by us, warming her ungloved hands in the emanating heat. She leans over, cocking her head in the direction of Jules and Rhoda. The bright orange hat falls over my eyes as I struggle to keep up with my dad. I slip a bit on the ice and let out a shrill scream before getting ready to hit the ground, but I don 't feel any pain. I open my eyes to see that my superhero had swooped me up and saved the day. I wrap my slender arms around his neck, hugging him. He carries me the rest of the way to the small lakeside restaurant. When he sets me down on the ground again, my boots make a loud bang on the wooden floor. A few heads turn towards us. One specific person that I notice is an old man who's grey hair hangs a bit too long. His scruffy looking beard reminds me of my grandfather. I waddle after my dad to the tall stools by the counter. I try to climb up by myself but I am much too short. Dad picks me up again and sets me on the seat. He helps me unzip my jacket so that I don't get too hot in the heated room. • 34. The Evolution Of Medicinal Chocolate The Evolution of Medicinal Chocolate No more guilt! From age to age, the knowledge and usage of chocolate has vastly grown. Part of this knowledge comes from searching the past and modern technology studies. Since the beginning of the use of chocolate and cacao in its native lands, the medicinal value of chocolate has evolved, while enticing and capturing the palates of cultures past and present. Diseases have existed since the beginning of time. However, chocolate use began in the early American civilizations to treat those diseases (Norton 14). Although chocolate was reserved for those of high social standing in society, it was used for medicine, as written about in the notes of European explorers during the 1500s and 1600s (Lippi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2060S). In addition to curing digestive issues, chocolate was used to treat the common cold and flu (Dillinger et al. 2060S). Fever, faintness, and wet coughs were healed by drinking a mixture of chocolate and various herbs and grains (Dillinger et al. 2060S). Chocolate use in the early American's medicine did not only act as a healing mechanism, but as a vehicle to relief (Dillinger et al. 2060S). The valued flavor of chocolate was a mask for the unpleasant tastes of other herbal medications (Dillinger et al. 2060S). The early civilizations of the Americas passed their knowledge of chocolate from generation to generation. As these generations passed, the Age of Exploration began, and the knowledge was then tossed across the Atlantic Ocean (Lippi 1575). The recipe of chocolate has changed during its voyage; however, many of its medicinal properties were studied, expanded, or even proved wrong (Norton 16). Some researchers found chocolate to inhibit digestion, while others agreed with its original use accounts (Dillinger et al. 2064S, 2069S). European studies, overall, were found to be in agreement with the early use of chocolate to disguise the flavor of other prescriptions and in its treatment of the common cold (Dillinger et al. 2065S, 2069S). Despite not mothering chocolate from its beginnings, in their adoption of it, the Europeans took chocolate use to a greater level. Chocolate became more than medicine: it became ... With seven carbon, eight hydrogen, four nitrogen, and two oxygen atoms, theobromine's chemical formula is C7H8N4O2, and can be found in the beans of the cocoa plant, tea leaves, or kola nuts. My family and I were new to the state of Washington, and eager to explore the Pike Place Market. Tourists crowded in front of the original Starbucks, taking pictures and forming a line. I shifted my weight and waited impatiently in the filled to the brim coffee shop. "How much longer?" I whined, crossing my arms and pouting my lips. The line was moving at sluggish speed, and I was ready for my hot chocolate. After a moment of chatter, my parents decided that me and my sister could wait outside and people watch. Relieved, and walking out of the shop, we were welcomed by the cool fall air and rustle of coats. The street was filled with strange items and odd people. Passing a couple of street singers, we spotted a living statue. Covered all in silver, resembling a tin man, in a kneeling position. As we passed, its eyes followed our gaze until we were again enveloped by the crowd. My sister jerked her arm, looked back and quickened her walking speed. Trying to catch up, I yelled, "Camryn, slow down! Why are you walking so fast?" She grabbed my hand and dashed inside a nearby antique store. Looking out of the hazy window, she scanned the exterior for the Starbucks. But her eyes stopped dead at the spot where the living statue had kneeled. • 58. Case Study : Clare's Chocolates CASE STUDY: CLARE'S CHOCOLATES 1. The basic characteristics of the marketing concept that could be identified in Clare's Chocolates are as follows: a. Word of Mouth Clare's Chocolate Cafes use word of mouth marketing vs. more traditional avenues of marketing. This fits in with the organization's focus on providing high quality chocolate products to customers. As the perception of a quality product is subjective, people tend to believe the opinions of friends or associates when they describe a product and say that it is good, of high quality, and whether or not it is worth the price paid. It's about earning the respect and trust of customers and gaining new customers when they refer a product to a friend. Word of mouth is also a good business decision because it reduces the cost of advertising. The organization is duty bound, by this practice, to always been relevant and on top of product quality, service delivery and customer satisfaction. b. Product Quality Clare's Chocolate Cafes has always used good quality cocoa to make their chocolate products. • 60. Descriptive Personal Experience Essay So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really did. I guess that's just the type of person I was, someone who just hopped on a train for the ride. I always liked trains. I don't know what it was about them, but for some reason or another, I always found myself lounging in the same spot drinking hot cocoa. People always said that hot chocolate "was only for kids" but I never got that; I had a pretty strong distaste for coffee. Honestly, I hate it, the way it makes your teeth gritty to the point where you need something else to drink. I can't even enjoy a cup unless it's lighter than my own skin tone, which, by the way, is pretty pale. I mean I wouldn't call myself pasty but... Anyhow, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My mother raised me right, so I understood how wrong this was, but don't worry, nothing I had been thinking was going to leave my thick skull. Most of the people on the train were older women with their children, but next to me was a man. His eyes, like mine, matched his hair in blackness. However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I named this man Frank and created a story for him when another man caught my eye. It was his coat. It was an expensive Ted Baker peacoat which was impressive for how young he was. I worked out frequently and could tell by his body that he had been skipping leg day. His chest, however, was ridiculously huge, almost as if it wasn't even real. My eyes drifted towards the right of the train. I began to critique a young blonde when the man with the jacket began to walk in my direction. He was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated up. I couldn't believe what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb strapped to his chest. Spending the next few minutes convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began to panic. Next thing I know, he's busting out of the bathroom with a gun and I was forced to prepare for what was going to happen next. It didn't take long for everybody on the train to panic. It rushed through each row as the sobs and cries made their way to every passenger. It was an orchestra of agony and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Essay Is Chocolate Physiologically or Psychologically... Is Chocolate Physiologically or Psychologically Addictive? Chocolate is made from the seeds of the tropical tree, Theobroma cacao. Theobroma is the Greek term for 'food of the gods.' In Aztec society chocolate was a food of the gods, reserved for priests, warriors and nobility. The Aztecs used cacao beans to make a hot, frothy and bitter beverage called chocolatl. Chocolatl was a sacred concoction that was associated with fertility and wisdom. It was also thought to have stimulating and restorative properties. The bitter drink was first introduced to Europe in 1528. However, it was not until 1876 that milk, cocoa powder and cocoa butter were combined to form what we now know as chocolate (1). Today, production and consumption of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may be why women report to prefer chocolate to sex. However, tests have shown that most of the phenylethylamine in chocolate is broken down before it reaches the brain. So, the amount of phenylethylamine that actually reaches the brain is unknown (1), (3). Theobromine is a close structural relative of caffeine, but has one–tenth the stimulating effect caffeine has. Although theobromine is a weak stimulant, it can increase pulse rate. And, withdrawal from theobromine has been found to cause migraines. The level of theobromine in commercial chocolate varies from bar to bar. Milk chocolate bars contain the lowest levels of theobromine. Thus, it is unlikely that theobromine alone is responsible for chocolate cravings (3), (4). In the mid–nineties a study done by Doniele Piomelli and his coworkers found that chocolate contains substances that mimic the effects of marijuana. Piomelli found that anandamide, produced naturally in the brain and also found in chocolate, activates the same cellular receptors as THC, the agent in marijuana that causes a person to feel "high". When a person smokes marijuana THC goes into the brain and activates all cannabinoid receptors. Enzymes break down anandamide shortly after it is produced by the brain, thus limiting the duration of the pleasurable "high". Chocolate does not contain enough anandamide to produce ... • 64. A Short Story : A Story? A silver car came to a stop infront of the vacant house in the culdesac, a simplistic trailer house. The passenger side door opened first, as a lean, boyish looking teenager stepped out, sporting a plain red and black T–shirt, black shorts, red shoes and a Pittsburgh Pirates hat that went over short, dirty blonde hair. The driver's door opened as what can be assumed to be the mother, but didn't seem like it. She was wider with brownish red hair that wore a "Dropkick Murphy's" shirt and jeans. The two exchanged a few words as they reached the back of the car, the trunk popping up that held four boxes. More words exchanged as the two pick up the boxes and enter the house, everything in the house was furnished, due to the two coming a week before. "Ready for a new chapter?" The mother asked, giving the taller boy a hug, who just gave a shrug. "I know you're nervous, from what happened last time–" the boy flinched back a bit. "–but i doubt it'll happen." The boy nodded, seeming to be a bit shaken. "Thanks.." he mumbled, glancing at the kitchen area, which had tan walls and white tile floor. "did you buy hot chocolate, or do i need to drive and get some?" he asked. "I forgot to, but i got everything else." The mom replied. "The winters here are colder than those in Pennsylvania. maybe once you make a few friends, you can invite them over to play games and drink hot chocolate!" The boy shrugs. "If I make friends." he states bluntly, strolling to the pantry in the kitchen. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Is There Child Slavery In Your Chocolate Analysis In "Is There Child Slavery in Your Chocolate?" John Robbins describes how Hershey's abuse labor forces and how other major companies deter that from happening in their chocolate. Robbins explains that the Hershey "company purchases the primary ingredient in its products from sources notorious for abusive labor practices..."(1) Robbins emphasizes that Ivory Coast provides forty– three percent of the world's supply of cocoa beans. He explains that in "...West Africa, particularly Ivory Coast, where Hershey sources its cocoa, and that forced or involuntary child labor was common in these areas"(1) Robbins states that there have been thousands of children who were either purchased or stolen to be enslaved to work on cocoa farms. He further explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A major chocolate company like Hershey's should have the incentive to do something about the children who endure torture working on the cocoa farms where they get their supply, instead they don't do anything. As Robbins states, "...allows Hershey's CEO, David J. West, to make $8 million a year while unpaid children are forced to labor under cruel conditions..."(1) this shows that Hershey has no interest in doing anything to help these poor children. The mention of child slavery, also reminds me of the little girls who get sold for sex trafficking. Its unfair to these kids who end up in situations like this and the abuse they get. Another reason I agree with Robbins is the developmental process of the products. By ensuring that the products are Fair Trade Certified it allows us, as consumers to know that the products we buy are safe and handled right. Lastly I agree because of the environment and by also ensuring that it's either Fair Trade Certified or is a part of the Rainforest Alliance it allows us to know that we aren't hurting the environment. Most people don't want to hurt the environment that we have left because we want to preserve what we have and save the animals that are endangered in these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All You Want to Know about Chocoate Essay All You Want to Know About Chocolate Introduction The reason I decided to do my research paper on chocolate was so that I could learn more about this delicious treat. Chocolate is a combination of ground cocoa and sugar bits in a rich cocoa butter. This fatty delicious cocoa butter melts at exactly 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which is exactly the same as our body temperature. That is the reason why when you bite into a solid piece of chocolate it melts in your mouth within a few seconds. But before chocolate does not start off as that delicious treat we all love. Tobecome the delicious treat we love chocolate has to go through a process. All chocolate starts off as seed on the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. The seeds of the cacao ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a vessel found at an Olmec archaeological site on the gulf of Veracruz, Mexico that dates chocolate's preparation by pre–Olmec peoples as early as 1750 B.C. On the Pacific coast Chiapas, Mexico, a Mokaya archeological site provides evidence of cacao beverages dating even earlier, to 1900 B.C. Based on the evidence left behind at these sites it appears that cacao was not only used to make a drink but that the white pulp found around the cacao seed was probably used too to make fermentable sugars for a drink. An early Mayan tomb found at the Rio Azul site had vessels with the Maya glyph for cacao on them that contained residue of some type of chocolate drink. Finding this evidence suggests that the Mayans were drinking chocolate around 400 A.D. Documents that have been found written in Maya hieroglyphs appear to express that chocolate was used not only for ceremonial purposes but also for everyday life. It seems that the Mayans grew cacao trees in their backyards, and used the seeds of the tree to make frothy chocolate drinks. During the l 5th century the Aztecs gained control of a large part of Mesoamerica and they too adopted cacao into their culture. Unlike the Mayans who liked to drink warm chocolate the Aztecs liked it coliJ~ also liked to season it with many unique spices. Because their home is in the Mexican Highlands and this is not adequate for the growth of the cacao plant, they could not grow their own trees. This made chocolate a ... I sat down and picked up a hot, steaming cup of hot chocolate that was waiting for me. The smell of chocolate flowed through my nose, and I took a big gulp. I proceeded to sip the now cold hot chocolate. My sister ran over to me and started pushing presents towards me. "Happy 5th Birthday" my sister said in a jolly voice. Driving in a blizzard is not the most optimum weather to be driving in. We said our goodbyes to our family and hurried our way to the car. "I'm tired" I said in a cranky voice. My mom grabbed my head and put it on her lap and told me to go to sleep. "We will be home before you know it" she whispered. Traditionally, this was done immediately after harvest; today, pods are sometimes first stored whole for a few days to prime them for fermentation. Fermenting begins when the beans come into contact with the air. Here, a workrt uses a stick to gauge the depth of the mass in a vara, or measuring box, to determine the wage of the harvester, before transferring it to the fermentation bin. During fermentation, the pulp disintegrates, producing steamy heat and a pervasive, yeasty, sour smell. It is at this point that the beans first develop thier complex characteristics. Drying of the beans after fermentation is done on slatted wooden trays in the open air. The beans are spread out evenly and raked periodically so that they dry uniformly. As the beans dry, their colors deepen, turning them into a carpet of sepia, umber, and mocha. Aeration of the dried beans during storage is important to prevent the formation of mold. A worker tosses beans with a shovel to expose them evenly to the air. Grading of the beans is done mechanically at the larger farms; smaller producers do it by hand. From baskets, the dried beans are transferred to burlap bags and transported to local selling stations, where they may be bought by large companies for export.
