A Rhetorical Analysis Of Nissan
Nissan has a new flagship Maxima sedan, a 2016 edition that is stylish, sporty and competitively
priced. Most people consider the Maxima Nissan's largest model, but they would be wrong in that
assessment, at least in one important area: total interior volume (cabin + trunk = total volume).
Indeed, it is the Nissan Altima that offers the most room, even though the Maxima is recognized as
the brand's flagship sedan. I recently had the Nissan Maxima in my press fleet rotation (that review
will be published here later in the week), and immediately recognized that the cars are similar in
size. Nissan markets the Altima in the midsize segment, a model that is only outsold by the Toyota
Camry and Honda Accord and is just ahead of the Ford Fusion ... Show more content on

Those numbers are based on SAE measurements, a voluntary way of determining trunk (storage)
space as well as interior (cabin) space. It is such a convoluted process that few people will pay
attention to it. Kudos to Cars.com for attempting to explain it – in short, the standards are based on
SAE J1100 methodology and that archetype was developed more than five decades ago. As the chart
indicates, the Nissan Maxima is dead last in proportions among the flagship models. To my
knowledge, Nissan isn't marketing the Maxima as its large car nor as its flagship sedan. Instead,
they're emphasizing this model's sporting characteristics. Indeed, when you see the hashtag 4DSC,
you're supposed to think of the Nissan Maxima and the embellishments on the transmission stick
and lights. That hashtag stands for four–door sports car, a marketing initiative that Nissan has used
with the Maxima previously. I could have stirred the pot further by adding the midsize Hyundai
Sonata to the list just above the Nissan Altima. Had I done so, you would have seen that the EPA
classifies the Sonata as a large car as it has 122.4 cubic feet of interior volume or nearly 10 cubic
feet more than the flagship

Suv And Crossover Vehicles Of Cars
SUV and Crossover vehicles are starting to take over the US car market. 2016 is the year of the
SUV and pickup truck. Each month the car sales share of the market slips a bit (NPR, 2016). This
means that sales of your average car are starting to slip. If you pay attention while driving down the
road you may notice this. I believe there are several reasons why this is starting to be the case. SUVs
and Crossover vehicles sit higher than an average commuter or luxury car. They tend to have more
space inside for passengers and cargo. They are starting to rival the fuel economy of cars. Four
wheel drive is a feature available to all of them. Now before I get started I said SUVs and
Crossovers. While these two types of vehicles are broadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is especially true if a person has to commute long distances to work. A new study by
TrueCar.com finds tooling around in a small SUV is no longer that wasteful. The sales–weighted
fuel economy average is only 2 miles per gallon apart (26.83 mpg SUV vs. 28.84 mpg sedan) SUV
owners typically will pay only another $3 more tankful to fill up their SUV compared to a sedan.
(USA Today, 2015). Granted those numbers are for a Crossover, However manufactures like Nissan
and RAM Trucks are starting to place small diesel engines in half ton trucks in order to gain fuel
economy without sacrificing payload capability. RAM is claiming to make up to 29 MPG with their
small diesel (I was not able to find fuel economy numbers for the Nissan engine). So it is likely fair
to assume that it is only a matter of time before traditional SUVs get engines of that type. Height is
also an apparent factor in the purchase of these vehicles. People reportedly like the fact that they sit
higher than an average car. It gives people the feeling that they have "command of the road". As
someone that drives a full size truck I can confirm that being able to see over the car(s) in front of
you does give you a certain commanding feeling. Driving a low sitting sedan just feels like you are
dragging your backside across the pavement. However I think there may be more to the height
factor.

Big And Bad Malcolm Gladwell Summary
In Big and Bad by Malcolm Gladwell, he states that S.U.V.s are not safe, although they may seem
like they are. Specifically, he states that S.U.V.s are the opposite of safe. In the text, Gladwell
discusses how people generally think, "If I am bigger and taller, I'm safer." In other words, many
people feel that if they are driving a bigger, heavier vehicle, they will be protected from harm. The
article argues that the massive weight of the S.U.V. negatively influences the handling of the
vehicle, leading to how fast you can navigate and control the S.U.V. The article counters the false
sense of security by claiming that there is a higher chance of your S.U.V. rolling because of how big
and cumbersome it is. In the article, Gladwell test drives

Models Of A Sport Utility Vehicles Of Any Size
Sport utility vehicles of any size, but particularly of the luxury variety continue to appeal to
consumers in numbers never seen before. Audi is very much present in this segment with the Audi

luxury segment.
Exterior
The Audi Q3 provides a familiar look, one complementing the layout of the larger Q5 and Q7 SUVs.
Its lines are clean, yet expressive suggesting a model always in motion.
The Q3's front fascia is dominated by an oversized trapezoidal grille along with a narrow lower air
intake. The horizontally shaped wraparound headlamp assemblies contain distinctive LED lighting
accents; large embrasures are present at the base of the fascia and may be outfitted with optional fog
lamps.
This SUV's silhouette is marked by a slightly rising belt line, a sloping roof line as well as character
lines and body sculpting. Chrome touches and aluminum alloy wheels help deliver an upscale

SUV VS GUYS
As the years have gone on we have seen many changes in the differences and roles of gender. Little
have we thought of seeing cars taking a role of gender, in this case an SUV. SUVs have taken the
role of a male with a feminine touch. Dave Barry's Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and in fact
true effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that way.
Reptile Dreams focuses more on characteristics of an SUV that reflect the characteristics of men.
Both authors produced a strategically strong essay in reference to their point of view with their own
personal touch using a topic that they know most about.

"My theory is the reptilian always wins,' he said, 'If there's a crash, I want the other guy to die. Of
course, I can't say that aloud." Hence, the rationale for owning an SUV, and willingness to put others
at risk rather than themselves in a crash situation. Again, questioning the rules of moral behavior.
"For Rapaille, the archetype of a sport utility vehicle reflects the reptilian desire for survival. People
buy SUVs, he tells auto executives, because they are trying to look as menacing as possible to allay
their fears of crime and other violence. The Jeep has always had this image around the world
because of it its heavy use in war movies and frequent appearances in newsreels from the 1940's and
1950's, and newer SUVs share the image."

stuff such as star wars, nuclear weapons, and such items that are in the extends of that genre. as to
differentiate with the characteristics of a women, he used the example of a women and her living

basic need to rearrange furniture nor keep a computer that is outdated. Dave

Ethics of SUVs Essay example
Ethics of SUVs
We have all seen them rumbling around the highways of America, blocking the view of the road and
pounding the ground with their enormous engines. Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) have become a
part of our culture, as cars did before them and hoarse and buggies before that. Transportation has
always been a part of society's development as it continues to change and adapt to our needs as well
as our technology. In the beginning transportation was needed for making war on other villages, or
for getting between towns, but these same animals of old were also used to till the lands and to
cultivate crops. Automobiles on the other hand have changed this entire picture as they are used
primarily for transportation. However, as this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2700 were built by Bantam and then from 1941–1945 700,000 Ford and Willy Jeeps were built.(1)
It should be noted that four wheel drive technology has been around since the turn of the twentieth
century. From the 1940's to the 1980's these primitive SUVs changed little as they were rough
riding, back country vehicles used by the armies, campers, and hunters of the world to move easily
under the toughest of conditions.
In the early 1980's changes in the SUVs began to occur as family sizes grew, gasoline prices
dropped, and more people wanted to head out into the country on weekend excursions. The growth
of sales gradually increased until the end of the 1980's when a sudden change in car markets
occurred. People no longer wished to drive the family station wagons of days past, nevertheless they
still needed vehicles that could transport many people, but with a new style. The car market found
satisfaction in the sport utility vehicles. Though they were rough and not nearly as refined when
compared to car standards people like the concept. The idea of being able to go anywhere anytime
appealed to many as they began to drop thousands of dollars into these new vehicles.
Before 1980 SUV design as well as production had always been behind cars, however, it did not
take long for the car manufacturers such as GM and Ford to begin mass production of SUVs. With
the jump in sales of SUVs the demands of buyers became more and more upscale. No longer were

Essay about Ford Motor Company
I. Executive Summary The Ford Motor Company has been facing a steady decline in market share
for approximately the past twelve years. This decline is largely attributable to their reputation for
building poor quality vehicles that break down easily, and rising gas prices reducing demand for
large trucks and SUVs, which is Ford's main source of sales. Ford has already taken measures in
response to this slump by introducing new car models such as the Fusion, as well as attempting to
make their mark in the new crossover SUV market with the Ford Edge. However, many would argue
that this is just too little, too late. While the Edge does lack certain qualities with respect to its
competitors, it also comes with a more affordable price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internal Analysis
Strengths
Ford has been in business now for over a century, giving them plenty of experience. When it comes
to the Edge, the replacement parts for the vehicle are relatively inexpensive. They are much less
expensive in comparison to its competitors. This is true for Ford in general as well. This is a major
contributing factor when individuals go to buy a vehicle because even if a car is slightly less likely
to break down than the Edge, but it has more expensive replacement parts, the individual may be
inclined to take their chances since even if it does break down, the financial consequence isn't a
severe one. The Edge's purchase price is also less than comparable crossovers, which is a definite
strength to Ford. Another strength that was somewhat unanticipated is the fact that early on the
Edge's sales exceeded expectations. It was said, "The sales levels, really coming from having no
brand recognition, are kind of in the same sandbox as three really great products that have
established themselves over the course of several years... I don't know if I thought we could get
there that soon." While they still aren't on par with the other companies who have been
manufacturing crossovers for a great deal longer, they're still off to a strong start.
Weaknesses
One weakness that Ford has with the Edge is that

The Crossover Utility Vehicle Or Suv Segment Is Booming
The subcompact crossover utility vehicle or SUV segment is booming, due to a slew of new
products introduced within months of each other this year. The segment is not new, but it does
demonstrate that consumers have an insatiable appetite for all things SUV. As a result,
manufacturers are looking for ways to gratify that demand.
We saw our first subcompact SUVs in the 1990s in both the first generation Kia Sportage and the
Chevrolet Tracker. Those vehicles either grew in proportions or were replaced by larger models to
reflect consumer interest in spacious SUVs.
Demand for compact models such as the Honda CR–V, Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue, and the Toyota

The base Pop gives shoppers a choice of a normally aspirated 2.4–liter four cylinder engine (180

Hybrid Body On Frame Sport Utility Vehicles
The second–generation Armada has sailed into port.
Few manufacturers build full–size, traditional body–on–frame sport utility vehicles these days.

All–New Endurance Engine
The all–new Armada shares the same 5.6–liter, V8 gasoline engine found in the Titan and Titan XD.
Known as "Endurance," the engine is the same size as the previous V8, but otherwise it, too, is new.
Nissan says the beefy V8 is outfitted with variable valve event & lift (VVEL) technology for
improved response and performance. Further, Nissan enhanced throttle response by controlling the
intake valve and also employs direct injection gas technology.
Where the previous engine created 317 horsepower and 385 pound–feet of torque, the latest engine
makes 390 horsepower and 401 pound–feet of torque. Nissan rounds out the powertrain with a
seven–speed automatic transmission.
Powerful, Expressive Exterior
Without getting lost in the details, Nissan combined elements from its other vehicles to develop the
new Armada's exterior. To begin, the grille offers a familiar look, one advanced by the popular
Pathfinder crossover. While the headlamp assembly is similar to the Titan's, it offers its own look.
The lower grille or air intake is unique, coming in wider and longer than the pickup truck line.
The truck's frontal presentation is muscular, with a sculpted hood not unlike the Titan's. So, what
you have here is a combination of existing and new Nissan elements to establish the Armada's face.

Nissan Xd Crew Truck Essay
A diesel–driven Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL garb lands on the Auto Trends driveway.
Oftentimes, it is the second opportunity with a vehicle that paints a clearer picture of its capabilities.
Following my introduction to the all–new Nissan Titan XD seven months earlier, I welcomed a 2016
Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL trim to my home. Not only did I have more time to put it
through the paces, but I also was able to essentially completely dissect this vehicle.
My verdict? Nissan has a formidable competitor in the Titan XD, one the manufacturer says fills the
"white space" between light– and heavy–duty trucks. In particular, instead of going up against the
likes of the Ford Super Duty and similar models from Chevrolet, Ram, and GMC, Nissan built the
Titan XD to give it enhanced towing capacity without the attendant huge price tag.
More Power, Manageable Price
The result is a powerful Crew Cab–only pickup truck priced from $35,290 in base "S" trim, a 4x2
model with a 5.6–liter, gasoline engine. But the big news here is the availability of a turbo–diesel
engine provided by Cummins, a supplier who is no stranger to the auto industry.

Personal Narrative : My Dream Car
It was the day before my seventeenth birthday. It was a cool saturday evening in March. My mother
woke me up early that day telling me we are going to see my grandparents. My hair was a mess,
tangles in my hair from rolling around at night restless trying to find a comfortable sleeping
position. I struggled getting out of my warm, comfortable bed that swallowed my body and made it
even harder to find motivation to get up. After a while of contemplating if getting out of bed was a
good idea, my mom came back in and pulled the warm blanket off my body and yelled, with her
restless voice, to get out of bed and start getting ready. When I finally started getting ready and
putting on my make up, which is right after I get out of the shower, she came back in and ask if she
could pick out my outfit. At first I thought it was weird and then I came up with a conclusion maybe
she was doing this because of my birthday or so I can hurry up and we can leave sooner. As I got
ready I was telling my parents about my dream car. It has been my dream to have a black beautiful,

The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler
and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011,
10). They were both successful at creating the first four–wheeled, gas–engine vehicle. It reached a
top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley,
2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The
ideas ranged from air–cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered engines, electric cars,
to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other ideas included overhead
cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that
were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler–Mercedes merged to
become Daimler–Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many
companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes–Benz.
During the 1930's, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry,

A Regression Analysis Of Consumer Related Data For A...
The main objective of this paper is to carry out a regression analysis of consumer related data for a
specific product. The product selected for analysis was sport utility vehicle (SUVs) sales in the
United States. The United States Department of Transportation website was the source of the data
used for the paper. It contained sales, market share, price, and fuel consumption information. Using
this relevant consumer information, a linear regression model was developed that investigated the
relationship between SUV sales, price, market share and fuel consumption. In this case, SUV sales
is the dependent variable and refers to the number of SUVs sold within the United States per year.
On the other hand, the market share (refers to the total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Description of Dataset
As mentioned earlier, the data used for this paper was sourced from The United States Department
of Transportation website. In order to locate the dataset a Google search was conducted with search
terms that include 'SUV' 'sales data' 'annual sales.' Google returned a number of website sources,
which were examined and sorted. From the list of searches, the best and most credible source was
The United States Department of Transportation website. Using the search feature available on the
website an additional search was carried out using similar search terms. The data titled Table 1–21:
Period Sales, Market Shares, and Sales–Weighted Fuel Economies of New Domestic and Imported
Light Trucks (Thousands of vehicles) was downloaded and it contained sales, market share and fuel
consumption information for a number of light trucks (Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 2016).
Using Excel, the original dataset was filtered in order to remove the small, medium, and large size
pickup data and only leave data on SUVs. The main reason for this is that the study was interested in
studying price, market share and consumption as factors that affect sales of SUVs in America. The
dataset contains annual data from 1990 to 2012. It also contains data from 1980 and 1985 (Bureau of
Transportation Statistics, 2016). This in total consisted of 25 observations for each dataset.

Evolution of Cars from 1970s-2010
The automobile industry is known for its constant remodeling and change from year to year. While
there are not generally drastic changes, there are societal and cultural changes that affect the styling
of the automobiles that companies produce. Beginning in the 1970 's there were drastic changes in
society that completely altered the products ' car companies were distributing, such as the change
from muscle cars to smaller fuel efficient economy cars. As time progressed the evolution of popular
cars such as the station wagon, minivan, and SUV, were influenced by social, political, and
economic factors that inevitable dictated the progression of the automobile industry. The 1970's

The "Ford Pinto memo" ruthlessly calculated the cost of reinforcing the rear end, $121 million,
versus the potential payout to victims, $50 million (Worst Car 's of All Time). In the United States,
imported cars became a significant factor for the first time, and several domestic–built subcompact
models entered the market. European car design underwent major changes during the 1970 's due to
the need for performance with high fuel efficiency. Designs such as the Volkswagen Golf and
Passat, BMW 3, 5 and 7 series, and Mercedes Benz S–Class appeared at the latter half of the decade.
The designs of Giorgetto Giugiaro became dominant, along with those of Marcello Gandini in Italy.
These smaller more streamlined cars took over the market because of their fuel efficiency as well as
its innovative design for the time (Volkswagen). The Japanese automobile industry also flourished
during the 1970 's compared to other major auto industries. It took off during this time as its
popularity and market exponentially increased within a short amount of time. Japanese vehicles
became internationally renowned for their affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency, which had a
high appeal to American customers due to the oil embargo. Japanese car manufacturing became

Toyota Hilux Is A Light Commercial Utility Vehicle
The Toyota Hilux is a light commercial utility vehicle (ute) manufactured by Japanese company
Toyota. The ute has become known for being reliable, sturdy and being able to withstand harsh
terrains and abuse. This has led to the automobile becoming known as the " unbreakable Hilux ".
This has subsequently motivated its latest advertising campaign "the unbreakable driver".
Product analysis:
The Hilux is a four–wheeled drive (4WD) Ute. The vehicle has a v6 turbo engine, double wishbone
suspension and a 750kg towing capacity. (Toyota, 2015)
The Ute Market within Australia represents 19.2% of the total motor vehicle industry (Whytcross,
2014). Toyota occupies a large majority of the industry, selling 58,000 light utility vehicles in 2012
(Di Leo, 2013). This is illustrated upon in figure 1 which indicates the market share and precent
change in volume sold for the previous year.
Despite holding a heavy market share, the Hilux faces direct competition from the Nissan Navara,
Holden Colorado, Ford Ranger , Mitsubishi Triton, Mazda BT–50, Isuzu D–MAX and the
Volkswagen Amarok.
The Hilux has been given the title of "Unbreakable car". This statue came about from the popular
British television show Top Gear. In 2010 the show attempted to destroy the truck, displaying
various tests including, crashing into a tree, driving through a cottage, hit by a wrecking ball,
drowned in a sea tide and light on fire. Despite all the trials the car was able to start without

Who I Am I?
WHO AM I? I was born and raised in Jamaica. I moved to the United States less than five years ago,
and like many new immigrants, going through the adjustment into American society of varied
cultural background and economic opportunity which far different from what they are already
accustomed to, could be challenging. Being already fluent in English may have placed me in a firm
footing in the settling in process, but being a matured and level–headed person in her thirties was
my strongest edge over the settling in experience. I attribute my sense of independence, strong–
willed personality, perseverance and a forgiving heart to the way my parents raised me. Yvonne, my
mom, and my dad, Roy were very conservative and strict parents when it came to discipline. As my
dad was the main income earner, his role was the sponsor and provider of the family. With this male
status as the breadwinner, his authority was expressed the through his actions spoke louder than his
words. We would watch the game of cricket, a popular sport in the Caribbean. I followed the game

Essay on Analysis of an Xterra Advertisement
Analysis of an Xterra Advertisement With red letters one and a half inches tall, this advertisement
screams "Couch for sale." In this advertisement, the advertisers want the consumer to sell their
couch. It is an automobile they are trying to sell me. Why would I need to get rid of the furniture in
my house? In smaller white text across the bottom of the two pages, the ad goes on to explain that
the only enemy of the Nissan Xterra sports utility vehicle is the "fluffy cushions" of a sofa. How
could an automobile maker get consumers to believe that two inanimate objects are natural enemies?
Moreover, is that really what Nissan wants consumers to believe so consumers will buy the Xterra

There are plenty of "pretty" sport utility vehicles out there; the Xterra is a rugged truck. In addition,
it could also be because silver is one of the top selling colors of automobiles.
The Xterra is shown zooming down a dirt road and heading to the mountains. The advertisers are
showing the consumer the rear of the Xterra. Could this be because the advertisers want the
consumer to inquire what is the protrusion for? I am surprised the advertisers left out that little tidbit
of information because the Xterra is the only sports utility vehicle to provide the onboard first–aid
kit. It is located in that protrusion. The Xterra is barreling by the trees and the clouds are rolling in
over the mountains in the distance. The windows are tinted so the consumer cannot see inside.
However, the consumer can almost imagine that the driver is a rugged person wearing a flannel
shirt, blue jeans and hiking boots. The person driving the Xterra is not some yuppie "Marinite" who
has a sport utility vehicle just to say, "I drive a SUV."
There are five smaller pictures in the advertisement. Each picture portrays a different use for the
Xterra. In all of these pictures, the rugged outdoors people are shown pushing themselves to the
limit while engaged in a strenuous activity. For example, there is a mountain biker carefully
maneuvering his mountain bike across a tree that has fallen across a river. In the picture below

Drunk Driving, My Story
Drunk Driving, My Story My dad taught me how to drive his truck the second my feet could reach
the gas pedal. I loved the idea of being able to get into a vehicle and to have the freedom of traveling
anywhere you wanted to. I got my first vehicle, a beat up Jeep Wrangler, that I repaired with my
dad. When I finally got my drivers license, I felt like I had the world in my hands. That was before
the accident. Now when I think of long road trips, I tense up and grow increasingly anxious.
Whenever I am at a stoplight, I become restless as I stare at the red light and nervously glance
around me for any cars coming my way. I have to drive a big SUV or else I become very uneasy. I
get easily startled on the road and flinch at cars that come near me. I don't enjoy driving anymore.
The thing is, this could have all been prevented by a simple decision. Driving drunk is not worth the
emotional and physical impact you put on other's lives. December 15, 2015, 8:43 pm. I was on my

being nervous about the final I had the next morning. I looked around blatantly not knowing that in

Contrasted with the 2015 model, the new Tucson is 1.1 in (27.9 mm) more extensive, with a 1.2–in

A Study On Mode Choice Modeling
CHAPTER II– LITERATURE STUDY
2.1 Mode choice
Mode choice is the willingness of a person to prefer one mode of transport over the other when
given various alternatives comprising different attribute values. Here, attributes are the factors
which impact the mode choice such as their socio–economic characteristics, trip characteristics and
available transport characteristics.
2.1.1 Theories for mode choice modeling
Mode choice modeling is conventionally done based on discrete choice model; here the discrete set
of alternatives is given and one must be chosen. This model is based on choosing an alternative with
maximum utilization or say choosing a mode which provided the maximum utility to the user. This
utility can be found out with the attributes having an impact on mode choice. The relationship
between the attributes and mode choice gives a value to each attribute which shows the dependency
of choosing a particular mode on that attribute. The utility equations are generally represented as
linear equations; the coefficients of each attribute is taken as its weight representing its relative
value or importance in the utility equation and hence, their contribution in mode choice.
Deterministic and Probabilistic Choice Theory: The user chooses a mode as per the utility function
but there can also be some unpredictable behavior which can influence the choice. If the choice of a
person in a modal is taken as rational and he chooses a mode with maximum utility; the model is

Toyota Sienna Is The Cream Of The Crop

Chrysler as both brands field excellent people movers of their own. Add in the Kia Sedona, Dodge

Now in its twentieth year and coming to the end of its third generation, the Toyota Sienna has
something no competitors provide: available all–wheel drive. The Sienna once offered a standard

Well, the market has since been rejuvenated, thanks in part to the all–new Chrysler Pacifica, which
has caused consumers to revisit the segment. But that's not all – in my unscientific analysis what
sets minivans apart from the pack are its dual sliding doors, a feature no crossover has. Instead of
fighting with pivoting doors while attempting to put a car seat and child in place, minivans make it
very easy on parents by handling the door issue for them.
Adding to the minivan advantage are power sliding doors. On the Sienna, the base L model features
sliding doors, but with no power assistance. However, once you reach the LE level, power assistance
with jam protection appears, the latter ensuring little hands are not mangled as the door shuts. Yes,
you'll want to start your Sienna shopping by examining the LE edition first.
Standard Exterior Features by Trim
Beyond the bold front fascia, long profile, and the expected (or at least available) power liftgate, the
distinguishing features on minivans may vary only in small ways. For the 2017 Sienna, a careful
inspection of the trim levels reveals differences, sometimes subtle.

Rationalist vs. Behavioralist Paradigms
What are the two business paradigms? Within the business disciplines, we are fortunate to have two
major paradigms (schools of thought): rationalist and behavioralist. An ideological/theoretical
conflict has existed between the two paradigms for over 50 years. Is human decision behavior more
consistent with the rationalist models or behavioralist models? Behavioral finance has grown out of
this conflict and will likely result in the resolution of the conflict as time passes.
What is a paradigm? Thomas Kuhn's concept of paradigm is useful background for the debate
between rationalists and behavioralists over decision making. His book The Structure of Scientific
Revolutions is the premier philosophy of science work written ... Show more content on

Since no paradigm ever solves all the problems it defines and since no two paradigms leave all the
same problems unsolved, paradigm debates always involve the question: Which problem is it more
significant to have solved? Like the issue of competing standards, the question of values can only be
answered in terms of criteria that lie outside of normal science altogether, and it is that recourse to
external criteria that most obviously makes paradigm debates revolutionary. If many revolutions
have shaken the very foundations of various fields, then why are we as lay people unaware of it?
Textbooks. Textbooks are teaching vehicles for the perpetuation of normal science and have to be
rewritten whenever the language, problem structure, or standards of normal science change. They
have to be rewritten in the aftermath of each scientific revolution, and, once rewritten, they
inevitably disguise not only the role but the very existence of the revolutions that produced them.
Textbooks truncate the scientist's sense of the discipline's history and then proceed to supply a
substitute for what they have eliminated. This textbook derived tradition never existed. And once the
textbooks are rewritten, science again comes to seem largely cumulative and linear.
What is the rationalist paradigm? The rationalist paradigm (e.g., microeconomics and finance) is
focused upon the structure and processes of markets. The market is seen as dominating other

Essay on SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLES
We see them everywhere these days, on the way to work, on the highways, parked in every
driveway and hundreds of them by every shopping center. Sports utility vehicles have given a new
meaning to the word car. When it comes to safety, SUV's (sports utility vehicle) are by far the most
dangerous vehicles on the road, and the road is exactly the place they should not be. Sports utility
vehicles are designed for off road driving. It seems like bigger the body is on a SUV, the more
popular it is; the SUV's that we see on the roads today are still a normal size car compared to the
coming future models.

The chances of survival for the passengers in the sedan would be 4 times less. Due to a tall chassis
that the body of the vehicle is mounted on, the risk of flipping is very high. A sports utility vehicle is

same purpose as a sports utility vehicle does, and the vans are much safer, also they consume much

Chevrolet Suburban and Yukon's are on recall, due to airbag problems.
Second reason why SUVs are not a safe transportation vehicle is that oil today, is a natural resource
that will only last for 45 more years. A sports utility vehicle with an engine size of 5.7 liters has a
gasoline mileage equivalent to two Toyota Camrys and one Honda Civic combined. In order to tow
a trailer that is more than 3000 pounds, then a large SUV is the best choice. However if the trailer is
less than 3000 pounds, there are many mini vans that are up to the task. The Chevrolet venture tows
3500 pounds and the
Pontiac trans port tows 3000, for example. Mini vans and some wagons have more usable space than
SUVs of comparable size. Interior space is sacrificed when SUV bodies are designed around truck
frames or other 4WD systems. Though few will admit it, many poseurs think that their
SUV gives them a tough, independent image instead of the

Car passengers account for 80 percent of the deaths that result from the collisions of cars and light
trucks. Incredibly enough, in the name of "safety," Ford Excursions have been installed with
"Blockerbeams," bars beneath their front bumpers that prevent them from riding over smaller cars in
head–on collisions (Welch, sc. 1). The mere fact that such an apparatus is necessary suggests that
SUVs pose unnecessary safety threats to other drivers. Furthermore, because they threaten other
vehicles, they raise a question of corporate responsibility. Is it ethical to drive a vehicle that so
blatantly endangers others?
SUVs may easily survive front–side collisions, but they are not free of safety risks. Though they
contain safety systems such as antilock brakes, independent suspensions, and computerized
monitoring systems (Gibney, sc. 1), they also have narrow tracks, soft suspension, and a high centers
of gravity. Such qualities make them unstable enough that they require a "High Rollover Risk"

NHTSA statistics based on a "proportional comparison between a vehicle's center of gravity and the

teenagers to soccer moms –– not all are excited by its arrival. Some of the current complaints with
SUVs have to do with their ridiculous size and relative fuel inefficiency. Others criticize the vehicles
as being unsafe, and certainly unnecessary, for the tasks for which they are commonly used. But
even with the recent campaigns to educate the public on the possible physical and environmental
risks posed by the automobiles, SUV purchases continue to be on the rise. Indeed, with car sales on
the decline, and the SUV being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is apparent that safety is on the minds of SUV and car drivers alike. The anti–SUV argument gives
statistics that show SUVs high center of gravity that makes them prone to flipping. These statistics
also show that rollovers account for a large portion of vehicle deaths (National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration) . A solid argument is made by showing that lots of deaths are due to vehicle
rollovers because SUV's account for the majority of these types of crashes. Other stats show that in
crashes containing both SUVs and cars the car generally loses. There are some problems with the
statistics used by anti–SUV groups. Some statistics are not brought up when discussing personal
safety because they would weaken the argument being made. By only telling part of the statistics the
argument is flawed because it is built on numbers that are slanted. The anti–SUV arguments are not
lying when they say that SUVs are less safe than cars; as a general rule, this is true. However, in the
case of a SUV versus car crash, the SUV is safer: The occupant death rate in SUVs is 6 percent
higher than it is for cars – 8 percent higher in the largest SUVs. The main reason is that SUVs carry
a high risk of rollover; 62 percent of SUV deaths in 2000 occurred in rollover accidents."
(Mencimer)
Personal safety is very important to most people; using this pathos base, a logos argument is built by
showing how driving a SUV is not as safe for the

Advantage And Disadvantages Of Overlanding
Overlanding, a relatively new term that has recently emerged in America from Australia and South
Africa. What is Overlanding? Overlanding is a self–reliant adventure traveling to remote locations
where the journey is the primary goal, not the destination. This type of adventure is typically
accomplished by off–road capable vehicles where the form of lodging is camping, regularly lasting
for extended lengths time, often a weekend to years, and across international borders. The
Overlanding vehicles that are available on the market today differ by what technologies are
equipped with and what amenities does the owner want in them. What type of vehicle the owner
desires depends on how much money the owner want to spend and what they want to accomplish.
Overlanding vehicles are often categorized by least expensive, moderately expensive, and extremely
expensive. Do not let the term "least expensive" fool you because none of these vehicles are cheap
to purchase, unless used, or to modify. The vehicles in this category makes up most Overlanding
vehicles and often the price ranges from thirty thousand to fifty thousand dollars. These vehicles
typically come with very little technology, and amenities, and one can build it to fit their needs. One
of the most popular car manufacturing brands in this group is Toyota. A Japanese car manufacture
that is widely recognized for producing some of the most reliable vehicles on the market to date.
Vehicles such as the Tacoma, 4Runner, and FJ

Would You Buy a Car That Looked Like This Essay
Andrew Simms, a policy director and head of the Climate Change Program for the New Economics
Foundation in England, presents his argument about the impact SUV's have on our roadways, and
the air we breathe. "Would You Buy a Car That Looked like This? ". The title alone gives great
insight on what the article is going to be about, (vehicles). "They clog the streets and litter the pages
of weekend colour *supplements. Sport utility vehicles or SUV's have become badges of middle
class aspiration" (Simms 542). Simms opening statement not only gives his opinion on how SUV's
are the new trend, but he also paints a picture of what we see every day driving down our roadways.
Simms also compares the tobacco industry's gap between image and reality ... Show more content

(Simms 542). Simms solution on labeling cars helps readers visualize a big warning sign on an
SUV; in other words, an eye sore. Also it gives readers a preview of his solution.
Simms makes an important move, "1.2 million people across the world are killed in road crashes
each year and 50 million injured" (qtd. in Simms 542). This fact shows that Simms acknowledges
that car crashes result in many deaths a year; however SUV's by almost any measurements, are more
dangerous than cars. Next Simms provides more supporting facts. "People driving or riding in a
sport utility vehicle in 2003 were nearly 11 percent more likely to die in an accident than people in
cars" (qtd. in Simms 542). Simms also states that due to the size of an SUV, they suffer from greater
rear view blind spots. Which he stated may account for the number of parents who killed their
children by running over them. These strong facts speak for themselves; and bring an emotional
appeal to the reader. A child dying in any circumstance promotes sadness.
Next Simms acknowledges our rights with a quote "In a free society, men and women ultimately
have the right within the law to choose their own lifestyle, even when it may damage their own
health. "But, he added. "People do not have the right to damage the health of others." (qtd. In Simms
542). Then he also stated that when it comes to choosing cars neither the industry nor the self–
absorbed consumer can be trusted to do the right thing. This

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Nissan

  • 1. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Nissan Nissan has a new flagship Maxima sedan, a 2016 edition that is stylish, sporty and competitively priced. Most people consider the Maxima Nissan's largest model, but they would be wrong in that assessment, at least in one important area: total interior volume (cabin + trunk = total volume). Indeed, it is the Nissan Altima that offers the most room, even though the Maxima is recognized as the brand's flagship sedan. I recently had the Nissan Maxima in my press fleet rotation (that review will be published here later in the week), and immediately recognized that the cars are similar in size. Nissan markets the Altima in the midsize segment, a model that is only outsold by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord and is just ahead of the Ford Fusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those numbers are based on SAE measurements, a voluntary way of determining trunk (storage) space as well as interior (cabin) space. It is such a convoluted process that few people will pay attention to it. Kudos to Cars.com for attempting to explain it – in short, the standards are based on SAE J1100 methodology and that archetype was developed more than five decades ago. As the chart indicates, the Nissan Maxima is dead last in proportions among the flagship models. To my knowledge, Nissan isn't marketing the Maxima as its large car nor as its flagship sedan. Instead, they're emphasizing this model's sporting characteristics. Indeed, when you see the hashtag 4DSC, you're supposed to think of the Nissan Maxima and the embellishments on the transmission stick and lights. That hashtag stands for four–door sports car, a marketing initiative that Nissan has used with the Maxima previously. I could have stirred the pot further by adding the midsize Hyundai Sonata to the list just above the Nissan Altima. Had I done so, you would have seen that the EPA classifies the Sonata as a large car as it has 122.4 cubic feet of interior volume or nearly 10 cubic feet more than the flagship ... • 3. Suv And Crossover Vehicles Of Cars SUV and Crossover vehicles are starting to take over the US car market. 2016 is the year of the SUV and pickup truck. Each month the car sales share of the market slips a bit (NPR, 2016). This means that sales of your average car are starting to slip. If you pay attention while driving down the road you may notice this. I believe there are several reasons why this is starting to be the case. SUVs and Crossover vehicles sit higher than an average commuter or luxury car. They tend to have more space inside for passengers and cargo. They are starting to rival the fuel economy of cars. Four wheel drive is a feature available to all of them. Now before I get started I said SUVs and Crossovers. While these two types of vehicles are broadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is especially true if a person has to commute long distances to work. A new study by TrueCar.com finds tooling around in a small SUV is no longer that wasteful. The sales–weighted fuel economy average is only 2 miles per gallon apart (26.83 mpg SUV vs. 28.84 mpg sedan) SUV owners typically will pay only another $3 more tankful to fill up their SUV compared to a sedan. (USA Today, 2015). Granted those numbers are for a Crossover, However manufactures like Nissan and RAM Trucks are starting to place small diesel engines in half ton trucks in order to gain fuel economy without sacrificing payload capability. RAM is claiming to make up to 29 MPG with their small diesel (I was not able to find fuel economy numbers for the Nissan engine). So it is likely fair to assume that it is only a matter of time before traditional SUVs get engines of that type. Height is also an apparent factor in the purchase of these vehicles. People reportedly like the fact that they sit higher than an average car. It gives people the feeling that they have "command of the road". As someone that drives a full size truck I can confirm that being able to see over the car(s) in front of you does give you a certain commanding feeling. Driving a low sitting sedan just feels like you are dragging your backside across the pavement. However I think there may be more to the height factor. As an individual that has long legs and knees that are not so great, getting in and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Big And Bad Malcolm Gladwell Summary In Big and Bad by Malcolm Gladwell, he states that S.U.V.s are not safe, although they may seem like they are. Specifically, he states that S.U.V.s are the opposite of safe. In the text, Gladwell discusses how people generally think, "If I am bigger and taller, I'm safer." In other words, many people feel that if they are driving a bigger, heavier vehicle, they will be protected from harm. The article argues that the massive weight of the S.U.V. negatively influences the handling of the vehicle, leading to how fast you can navigate and control the S.U.V. The article counters the false sense of security by claiming that there is a higher chance of your S.U.V. rolling because of how big and cumbersome it is. In the article, Gladwell test drives ... • 7. Models Of A Sport Utility Vehicles Of Any Size Sport utility vehicles of any size, but particularly of the luxury variety continue to appeal to consumers in numbers never seen before. Audi is very much present in this segment with the Audi Q3 the smallest of its many utility offerings. The Audi Q3 is a compact SUV, offered in standard front–wheel drive and available quattro all– wheel drive. With room for up to five, this model brings Audi quality and vigor to the entry–level luxury segment. Exterior The Audi Q3 provides a familiar look, one complementing the layout of the larger Q5 and Q7 SUVs. Its lines are clean, yet expressive suggesting a model always in motion. The Q3's front fascia is dominated by an oversized trapezoidal grille along with a narrow lower air intake. The horizontally shaped wraparound headlamp assemblies contain distinctive LED lighting accents; large embrasures are present at the base of the fascia and may be outfitted with optional fog lamps. Little have we thought of seeing cars taking a role of gender, in this case an SUV. SUVs have taken the role of a male with a feminine touch. Dave Barry's Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and in fact true effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that way. Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) have become a part of our culture, as cars did before them and hoarse and buggies before that. Transportation has always been a part of society's development as it continues to change and adapt to our needs as well as our technology. In the beginning transportation was needed for making war on other villages, or for getting between towns, but these same animals of old were also used to till the lands and to cultivate crops. From the 1940's to the 1980's these primitive SUVs changed little as they were rough riding, back country vehicles used by the armies, campers, and hunters of the world to move easily under the toughest of conditions. In the early 1980's changes in the SUVs began to occur as family sizes grew, gasoline prices dropped, and more people wanted to head out into the country on weekend excursions. The growth of sales gradually increased until the end of the 1980's when a sudden change in car markets occurred. People no longer wished to drive the family station wagons of days past, nevertheless they still needed vehicles that could transport many people, but with a new style. The car market found satisfaction in the sport utility vehicles. Though they were rough and not nearly as refined when compared to car standards people like the concept. The idea of being able to go anywhere anytime appealed to many as they began to drop thousands of dollars into these new vehicles. Before 1980 SUV design as well as production had always been behind cars, however, it did not take long for the car manufacturers such as GM and Ford to begin mass production of SUVs. • 20. Essay about Ford Motor Company I. Executive Summary The Ford Motor Company has been facing a steady decline in market share for approximately the past twelve years. This decline is largely attributable to their reputation for building poor quality vehicles that break down easily, and rising gas prices reducing demand for large trucks and SUVs, which is Ford's main source of sales. Ford has already taken measures in response to this slump by introducing new car models such as the Fusion, as well as attempting to make their mark in the new crossover SUV market with the Ford Edge. However, many would argue that this is just too little, too late. While the Edge does lack certain qualities with respect to its competitors, it also comes with a more affordable price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Internal Analysis Strengths Ford has been in business now for over a century, giving them plenty of experience. When it comes to the Edge, the replacement parts for the vehicle are relatively inexpensive. They are much less expensive in comparison to its competitors. This is true for Ford in general as well. This is a major contributing factor when individuals go to buy a vehicle because even if a car is slightly less likely to break down than the Edge, but it has more expensive replacement parts, the individual may be inclined to take their chances since even if it does break down, the financial consequence isn't a severe one. The Edge's purchase price is also less than comparable crossovers, which is a definite strength to Ford. Another strength that was somewhat unanticipated is the fact that early on the Edge's sales exceeded expectations. It was said, "The sales levels, really coming from having no brand recognition, are kind of in the same sandbox as three really great products that have established themselves over the course of several years... I don't know if I thought we could get there that soon." The Crossover Utility Vehicle Or Suv Segment Is Booming The subcompact crossover utility vehicle or SUV segment is booming, due to a slew of new products introduced within months of each other this year. The segment is not new, but it does demonstrate that consumers have an insatiable appetite for all things SUV. As a result, manufacturers are looking for ways to gratify that demand. We saw our first subcompact SUVs in the 1990s in both the first generation Kia Sportage and the Chevrolet Tracker. Those vehicles either grew in proportions or were replaced by larger models to reflect consumer interest in spacious SUVs. Not only did I have more time to put it through the paces, but I also was able to essentially completely dissect this vehicle. My verdict? Nissan has a formidable competitor in the Titan XD, one the manufacturer says fills the "white space" between light– and heavy–duty trucks. In particular, instead of going up against the likes of the Ford Super Duty and similar models from Chevrolet, Ram, and GMC, Nissan built the Titan XD to give it enhanced towing capacity without the attendant huge price tag. They were both successful at creating the first four–wheeled, gas–engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. During the 1930's, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry, especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The ute has become known for being reliable, sturdy and being able to withstand harsh terrains and abuse. This has led to the automobile becoming known as the " unbreakable Hilux ". This has subsequently motivated its latest advertising campaign "the unbreakable driver". Product analysis: The Hilux is a four–wheeled drive (4WD) Ute. The vehicle has a v6 turbo engine, double wishbone suspension and a 750kg towing capacity. (Toyota, 2015) The Ute Market within Australia represents 19.2% of the total motor vehicle industry (Whytcross, 2014). This is illustrated upon in figure 1 which indicates the market share and precent change in volume sold for the previous year. Despite holding a heavy market share, the Hilux faces direct competition from the Nissan Navara, Holden Colorado, Ford Ranger , Mitsubishi Triton, Mazda BT–50, Isuzu D–MAX and the Volkswagen Amarok. The Hilux has been given the title of "Unbreakable car". This statue came about from the popular British television show Top Gear. I moved to the United States less than five years ago, and like many new immigrants, going through the adjustment into American society of varied cultural background and economic opportunity which far different from what they are already accustomed to, could be challenging. Being already fluent in English may have placed me in a firm footing in the settling in process, but being a matured and level–headed person in her thirties was my strongest edge over the settling in experience. I attribute my sense of independence, strong– willed personality, perseverance and a forgiving heart to the way my parents raised me. Yvonne, my mom, and my dad, Roy were very conservative and strict parents when it came to discipline. As my dad was the main income earner, his role was the sponsor and provider of the family. In this advertisement, the advertisers want the consumer to sell their couch. It is an automobile they are trying to sell me. Why would I need to get rid of the furniture in my house? In smaller white text across the bottom of the two pages, the ad goes on to explain that the only enemy of the Nissan Xterra sports utility vehicle is the "fluffy cushions" of a sofa. There are plenty of "pretty" sport utility vehicles out there; the Xterra is a rugged truck. In addition, it could also be because silver is one of the top selling colors of automobiles. The Xterra is shown zooming down a dirt road and heading to the mountains. The advertisers are showing the consumer the rear of the Xterra. Could this be because the advertisers want the consumer to inquire what is the protrusion for? I am surprised the advertisers left out that little tidbit of information because the Xterra is the only sports utility vehicle to provide the onboard first–aid kit. It is located in that protrusion. The Xterra is barreling by the trees and the clouds are rolling in over the mountains in the distance. The windows are tinted so the consumer cannot see inside. However, the consumer can almost imagine that the driver is a rugged person wearing a flannel shirt, blue jeans and hiking boots. The person driving the Xterra is not some yuppie "Marinite" who has a sport utility vehicle just to say, "I drive a SUV." There are five smaller pictures in the advertisement. Each picture portrays a different use for the Xterra. In all of these pictures, the rugged outdoors people are shown pushing themselves to the limit while engaged in a strenuous activity. For example, there is a mountain biker carefully maneuvering his mountain bike across a tree that has fallen across a river. In the picture below ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I loved the idea of being able to get into a vehicle and to have the freedom of traveling anywhere you wanted to. I got my first vehicle, a beat up Jeep Wrangler, that I repaired with my dad. When I finally got my drivers license, I felt like I had the world in my hands. That was before the accident. Now when I think of long road trips, I tense up and grow increasingly anxious. Whenever I am at a stoplight, I become restless as I stare at the red light and nervously glance around me for any cars coming my way. I have to drive a big SUV or else I become very uneasy. • 62. A Study On Mode Choice Modeling CHAPTER II– LITERATURE STUDY 2.1 Mode choice Mode choice is the willingness of a person to prefer one mode of transport over the other when given various alternatives comprising different attribute values. Here, attributes are the factors which impact the mode choice such as their socio–economic characteristics, trip characteristics and available transport characteristics. 2.1.1 Theories for mode choice modeling Mode choice modeling is conventionally done based on discrete choice model; here the discrete set of alternatives is given and one must be chosen. This model is based on choosing an alternative with maximum utilization or say choosing a mode which provided the maximum utility to the user. This utility can be found out with the attributes having an impact on mode choice. The relationship between the attributes and mode choice gives a value to each attribute which shows the dependency of choosing a particular mode on that attribute. The utility equations are generally represented as linear equations; the coefficients of each attribute is taken as its weight representing its relative value or importance in the utility equation and hence, their contribution in mode choice. Deterministic and Probabilistic Choice Theory: The user chooses a mode as per the utility function but there can also be some unpredictable behavior which can influence the choice. If the choice of a person in a modal is taken as rational and he chooses a mode with maximum utility; the model is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, the market has since been rejuvenated, thanks in part to the all–new Chrysler Pacifica, which has caused consumers to revisit the segment. But that's not all – in my unscientific analysis what sets minivans apart from the pack are its dual sliding doors, a feature no crossover has. Instead of fighting with pivoting doors while attempting to put a car seat and child in place, minivans make it very easy on parents by handling the door issue for them. Adding to the minivan advantage are power sliding doors. On the Sienna, the base L model features sliding doors, but with no power assistance. Within the business disciplines, we are fortunate to have two major paradigms (schools of thought): rationalist and behavioralist. An ideological/theoretical conflict has existed between the two paradigms for over 50 years. Is human decision behavior more consistent with the rationalist models or behavioralist models? Behavioral finance has grown out of this conflict and will likely result in the resolution of the conflict as time passes. What is a paradigm? Since no paradigm ever solves all the problems it defines and since no two paradigms leave all the same problems unsolved, paradigm debates always involve the question: Which problem is it more significant to have solved? Like the issue of competing standards, the question of values can only be answered in terms of criteria that lie outside of normal science altogether, and it is that recourse to external criteria that most obviously makes paradigm debates revolutionary. If many revolutions have shaken the very foundations of various fields, then why are we as lay people unaware of it? Textbooks. Textbooks are teaching vehicles for the perpetuation of normal science and have to be rewritten whenever the language, problem structure, or standards of normal science change. They have to be rewritten in the aftermath of each scientific revolution, and, once rewritten, they inevitably disguise not only the role but the very existence of the revolutions that produced them. Textbooks truncate the scientist's sense of the discipline's history and then proceed to supply a substitute for what they have eliminated. This textbook derived tradition never existed. And once the textbooks are rewritten, science again comes to seem largely cumulative and linear. What is the rationalist paradigm? Sports utility vehicles have given a new meaning to the word car. When it comes to safety, SUV's (sports utility vehicle) are by far the most dangerous vehicles on the road, and the road is exactly the place they should not be. Sports utility vehicles are designed for off road driving. It seems like bigger the body is on a SUV, the more popular it is; the SUV's that we see on the roads today are still a normal size car compared to the coming future models. A mini van or a full size van serves exactly the same purpose as a sports utility vehicle does, and the vans are much safer, also they consume much less gasoline 270,000 Chevrolet Suburban and Yukon's are on recall, due to airbag problems. Second reason why SUVs are not a safe transportation vehicle is that oil today, is a natural resource that will only last for 45 more years. The Chevrolet venture tows 3500 pounds and the Pontiac trans port tows 3000, for example. Mini vans and some wagons have more usable space than SUVs of comparable size. Interior space is sacrificed when SUV bodies are designed around truck frames or other 4WD systems. Product Overview, Test Model Nissan arrived late to the compact SUV market, having jumped in as far more established models such as the Honda CR–V and Ford Escape dominated the segment. It is also a model offering an optional third row seat as part of a SV edition family package ($540) upgrade that brings in run–flat tires as well. Incredibly enough, in the name of "safety," Ford Excursions have been installed with "Blockerbeams," bars beneath their front bumpers that prevent them from riding over smaller cars in head–on collisions (Welch, sc. 1). The mere fact that such an apparatus is necessary suggests that SUVs pose unnecessary safety threats to other drivers. Furthermore, because they threaten other vehicles, they raise a question of corporate responsibility. Is it ethical to drive a vehicle that so blatantly endangers others? SUVs may easily survive front–side collisions, but they are not free of safety risks. A solid argument is made by showing that lots of deaths are due to vehicle rollovers because SUV's account for the majority of these types of crashes. Other stats show that in crashes containing both SUVs and cars the car generally loses. There are some problems with the statistics used by anti–SUV groups. Some statistics are not brought up when discussing personal safety because they would weaken the argument being made.
