Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly
resolution 44/25 of 20 November 1989
entry into force 2 September 1990, in accordance with article 49
The International Criminal Court against Child Kidnapping is an intergovernmental
organization and international Statutory Trust tribunal, established in Delaware, USA
with global branches in The Hague, The Netherlands and Brussels, Belgium.
The International Criminal Court against Child Kidnapping has the universal
jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of (parental) child
kidnapping, , crimes against humanity, and the enforced disappearance of children by
Government Officials. The International Criminal Court against Child
Kidnapping is intended to complement existing international judicial systems and it
may therefore only exercise its jurisdiction when certain conditions are met, such as
when national courts are unwilling or unable to prosecute criminals or when the United
Nations Security Council or individual states refer investigations to the Court.
Every year 10 million children are being kidnapped across the world and most
Governments are unable to solve this global problem. The International Criminal Court
against Child Kidnapping is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of
the Child, the Rome Statute, and the declaration of Human Rights, which has been
signed and ratified by more than 193 Nations of the world.
The International Criminal Court against Child Kidnapping, is the court of last resort for
prosecution for the crime of (parental) child kidnapping, enforced disappearance of
children by Government officials and crimes against humanity. Its founding treaty, the

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Rome Statute, and the
declaration of Human Rights, entered into force on the day of its establishment.
The International Criminal Court against Child Kidnapping enforces criminal laws on
(parental) child kidnapping, protects the rights of the child by putting international
justice on the map. The International Criminal Court against Child Kidnapping is
responsible for international criminal accountability, and world-wide reach to bring
crimes against children to justice.
