2. The process of which a music video
gets made is almost the same for
every type of genre. The budget of the
video can determine how long the
director spends on shooting the video
and the quality of the video.
3. It all starts with the 'commissioner' from a record
label sending a track to 5 - 10 directors. The
directors then have to each submit a treatment.
The treatment of the music video can be about
anything, but the director has to make sure that
their one is more unique and interesting so that it is
chosen. The best treatment is chosen by the
record label and is that director is commissioned to
film the music video. All the work until this stage is
unpaid. Only when the director is under a contract
with the record label does he/she start earning an
income.
4. Jamie Thraves is a British film writer and
director from Romford. He started off his
career making short films at University
and from then he has moved on to
making music videos such as "Just" by
Radiohead and "The Scientist" by
Coldplay.
5. If we look at "The Scientist" by Coldplay
the cinematography has been carefully
thought through. A lot of effort has been
put into filming this video because
almost everything is done backwards.
6.
7. Thraves' treatment was selected to
make this video because it was
distinctive and stood out from the rest.
For him to have even got the singer to
sing the lyrics backwards must have
taken a lot of dedication for them to
both collaborate to produce
such an imaginative video.
