The Dust Bowl of the 1930s was caused by overgrazing, overplowing, severe drought, high heat, and high winds which forced many farmers out of business and caused health problems for those who remained. It lasted from the 1930s to the 1940s, negatively impacting the national economy and worsening the Great Depression.
