Let’s Talk With Luis Jaime Gomez Vazquez About DevOps Solutions
1. Let’s Talk With Luis Jaime Gomez Vazquez About
DevOps Solutions
The ever-evolving landscape of technology has led to a growing need
for agility and innovation in software development. As companies
strive to stay ahead of the curve, keeping up with the latest
advancements in DevOps, web and mobile applications, and software
development is crucial. Organizations can ensure they remain
competitive and deliver outstanding solutions through a deep
understanding of the intricate mechanisms underpinning these
technologies.
In the following interview, we delve into the nuances of DevOps and
its relation to Agile methodologies, explore the driving forces behind
a passion for technology, and examine the various phases and
advantages of implementing DevOps in an organization.
2. Additionally, we discuss the importance of configuration
management, the role of AWS in DevOps, and the common
misconceptions surrounding the industry. By gaining insight into
these aspects, one can better navigate the complex world of software
development and position their organization for success in the digital
age.
Throughout the interview, Luis Jaime Gomez Vazquez was confident
& insightful. He spoke about his role, what he has learned so far in
his career, the functionalities & applications of DevOps & DASA, and
much more. So, without any further ado, let’s begin!
Anil: Kindly explain how DevOps is different from agile
methodology.
Luis: For me DevOps is an evolution of Agile. DevOps comes with
some needs Agile has no real answers. This needs are related to
Operations. ITIL and LEAN joined to Agile can configure the DevOps
culture where time is very important.
DevOps is a culture that moves the organization towards CI/CD
where Sprints, Demos, and so on are not as flexible as DevOps could
offer.
Anil: What keeps you interested in learning technology?
Luis: I have been working in technology my whole life. I’m a strong
believer of Technology is the key for helping the human being to do
better things and to help the humanity to achieve incredible goals.
3. Anil: Explain in brief What are the different phases in DevOps? And
what according you is the most important phase?
Luis: For me there are only three phases in DevOps:
Team : Help the team to create a Safe Space where all the creativity is
the focus in Continuous Improvement. To achive this goal, the team
should Automate as much as they can and, with this automation, get
free time for thinking and being creative.
Observability : Value Stream is the way where the Continuous
Improvement comes from. VS is the path where things go through,
and it should be measured to try to improve these metrics as much
as it is possible.
Quaility, Security and Assurance: We, the whole world, use
technology in our smartphones for whatever we want, do not have
patience. It means we should work to move to production all these
things we could measure in a huge amount of security. It’s going to
work almost perfectly. It means the whole team should work to
ensure the product’s quality, and the team must be trained on this.
Anil: Mention a few of the primary advantages of DevOps.
Luis: DevOps is the way of working that, applied with patience and
involving the whole organization, could offer Security, Return of
Investment, Fast Changes and Customer Satisfaction.
4. Anil: What is your process of understanding new technologies?
Luis: It’s in my understanding. Technology is my job but also my
hobbie. I use to read, test and deploy all the things I see out there.
Anil: What role does configuration management play in DevOps?
Luis: The entire team should be involved in the configuration
management. Configuration is essential for being in a unique role.
Avoiding Single Point of Failure.
Anil: What do you look for in technical blogs published online?
Luis: Opinions, experiences and mostly new tools. There are a bunch
of new tools every week in the market and I love the brave ones who
test the tools and share their experience.
Anil: What is AWS’s role in DevOps?
Luis: AWS for me is just a tool where to do things I not going to do on
my DataCenter. AWS is a vendor in the same way is GCP or Azure. Tell
me the price, and I’ll look for the best thing to deploy there.
Anil: What is that one misunderstood concept in your industry?
5. Luis: We are not doing magical things. We are doing some kind of art.
We combine the same sentences, variables, code languajes with
different credentials but it’s not fast and it’s not easy.
Anil: What are the DevOps anti-patterns?
Luis: It’s weird because anti-pattern is a pattern. If you want to call
anti-pattern to a fast reparation, you could do it but it’s a pattern
when a stressed team shows this behavior without using the lesson
learned to resolve the issue for continuous improvement activities.
Troubleshooting is our daily basis, most of the time. Trying to solve it
by keeping the Lights ON (KtLO) it’s the common action in our
Support activities.
Anil: How should we reach you?
Luis: You can connect with me over LinkedIn.
