Homework week 5.
1. Homework Week 5
Maths: Remember to learn your times tables and to see me in the morning to
test you. It is always a good idea to practise them in reverse too (i.e. division)
There is also an activity sheet for you to complete which will help you to revise
concepts learnt in class.
Reading: Select an activity from the reading contract and do this in your
homework books. Remember that the standard you complete it at should be
close to the standard that you would be showing in class, in other words, a very
high one. Take your time to ensure it is your best work.
100 Word Challenge: Using the idea: ‘please, just a bit.’ you will create a
piece of text that cannot exceed 100 words. Try using powerful imagery and
word choice, making it as exciting and interesting as you
possibly can. The only limitation is your imagination!
You are more than welcome to share your writing on our
blog www.ta15ybps.blogspot.com.au I am sure it is not
just me that would love to read your creative and
wonderful ideas!
A great example from a Year 6 student in New
South Wales:
I was rather happy relaxing in bed eating blueberry muffins and chocolate
sauce, (usual Saturday routine) when- unexpectedly- an intoxicating smell filled
the air. Bewitched with interest I clambered down stair and peeked through
the very minuscule gap in the door and there it was. Dripping with the very
icing of heaven, this chocolate monstrosity made my muffin look like my dad’s
attempt at a ‘satisfying lunch’. It’s impeccable gooey insides and spongy
layering made every part of me go limp and I could feel my puppy eyes looking
up at mum as if to say ‘Please just a bit’. But it was far too hot.
Your writing does not have to be about food, it could be a piece of absolutely
anything! Enjoy!
