1. Reference for Caren Watson
From my positive experience of working with Caren Watson, it is clear that she is a very
enthusiastic and warm hearted student who has a determined attitude towards her
studies and personal development. When I recently offered nutrition students the
opportunity to apply for a role as a research assistant in an ongoing employee wellbeing
project, it was clearly apparent that Caren was the most suitable candidate. When
donating much of her free time, Caren was trained to assist me in conducting
anthropometric measurements and assessment of nutritional status; this included
taking height, weight, percent body fat and waist and hip circumference measurements.
She also helped to take participants’ blood pressure using an automated machine. As an
additional role, Caren demonstrated keen willingness to help set up relevant equipment
during each physical assessment appointment. Despite ongoing work, life and study
commitments, Caren further offered her remaining free time to analyse a large number
of three-day diet diaries (assessed using nutritional analysis software of Microdiet).
These activities were carried out by Caren in a professional manner and she was also
able to demonstrate effective use of communication skills when in contact with different
participants.
From a broader perspective, Caren is well known in the Health Sciences and Nutrition
department (at Liverpool Hope University) as being a hard working student with
commendable grades and strong ambitions to pursue a career in the field of nutrition.
Her punctuality and dedication to her academic pursuits have also not gone unnoticed.
Furthermore, Caren has volunteered much of her spare time to get involved in
opportunities beyond the textbook, by engaging in academic conferences related to
nutrition. A recent example includes a public and academic conference based around
promoting healthy nutrition practices in workplace settings.
Overall, I can recommend Caren to anyone who is looking to recruit an individual to
assist them in a nutrition-based setting, particularly if they would like to work with
someone who is professional and passionate about all the work they undertake whilst
still maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
Many kind regards
