2. WhoWe Are
• Largest immigrant youth led network fighting for
access to education and now, immigration
reform for all 11 million dreams
• 5 years old
• We led the way in the fight for deferred action for
childhood arrivals (daca)
3. What are we doing?
• Last year our network decided to
include the narrative of, not just
ourselves, but of our friends and
family in the fight for immigration
reform.
• Fighting for immigration reform for all
11 Million Dreams, including our
friends, parents and any
undocumented person.
5. How are we doing it?
• Stories → they are a valuable source
of power our community has.
• We have used vojo as a way to
collect stories.
• Main demographic targeted were our
parents (ie. It is easier for them to call
a number and leave a story than to do
so on a webpage)
6. What's next?
• Right now, only used as an internal
story bank
• Would like to eventually be able to
present the stories in a creative,
compelling way.
7. What's next?
• Right now, only used as an internal
story bank
• Would like to eventually be able to
present the stories in a creative,
compelling way.
Editor's Notes
As a Graphic Designer, I am going to talk to you about using images and visuals to become viral on Facebook and Twitter giving you the ability to reach a broader range of audience that you might not have not been able to reach before. Now, You might ask yourself, “Why Visuals?” Why not videos or written posts? Now I agree that those are great tools to use online but you see a video takes time to watch, time a lot of people might not have. And written posts are not as “Attention Grabbing” and will blend into people’s news feed. You see, nowadays, people’s online attention span is getting smaller and smaller. And images are perhaps the fastest and most efficient way to captivate your audience. Take the following for instance. We posted the following quote on our facebook Page. It only got 26 likes and 1 share. Meh Not bad but we decided to experiment and put that same quote into a visual. The results spoke for themselves. . .
