4.0 result and discussions:
This chapter mainly presents the study findings a number of tables summarise information
obtained from the questionnaires, which are consequenctly used for analysis. The finding were
presented regarding quantitative value whereby percentage used. The other point of those finding
was reviewed from stake holders, particularly classmasters who are conversant with students
academic progress and to some extent with their parent occuption

3. According to table 3 it show that 33.3% of student parents wents to work station from 05:00am
to 06:00am, 50% of students parents went to work station from 07:00am to 10:00am while ther e
was no body went to eorrk station from 06:00-07:00am

In table 4, it show that 33.3% of students parents come back from work station at 15:00pm to
18:00pm, 40% of student parents come back from working station at 18:00-21:00pm, and 26.7%
of parents come back from 21:00-22:00pm due to the late time of parents from their working
station the interview with class masters mistres provided that those student have poor academic
progress their parents returned late from their work

From table 5 it showa that 80% of students parents had a time of checking students work at
home, 20% of students had no time to check students work. The researcher had hypothesiszed
that, these 20% of students either their parents came back late at home or had work full-time paid
work self-employed

In table 6. It show that 53.3% of students parents had time to talk with teachers about child
academic progress while 46.7% of students parents had no time to talk with teachers about their
child academic progress this situation also may influence children academic progress because,
the parent had no time to talk with teachers whi she/he would know the academic progress of
her/his child. Therefore there is a need on working t the relationship between parent occupation
andstudents academic progress

Hence frome table 7. It seems that 80% of students were given home activities with their parents
and 20% of students were not given home activities with their parents. The researcher
hypothesized that obviousely those 80% of students, had poor academic progress due to
thembeing having no time for private study at home. This situation also provided
classmasters/mistress during the interview

According to the observation from table 8 the students responses showed that the highest
percentage of students were given home activities everyday evening and the interview which was
done by classmasters in school 40% of students had a good academic progress, may be they
having time for private study at home

7. Frome table 9, it show that 40% of students’ parents were teachers 20% of students were farmer,
drivers, as well as soldiers

According to table 10, it seem that 40% of parent go to work from 06:00 to 08:00am and 60% of
parents the attended time was depending to the arranged.

8. Due to the parent questionnaires from table 11, it shows that 40% of parents had a time to
contact with teachers when their children do mot attend school, while 60% parents do not usually
contact with teachers if their child did not attend school, may be they failed duemto the nature of
their occupations like doctor, drivers as well as soldiers they were affected by the shifti ng of
time

According to table 12, it shows that 70% of parents had time to check childrens home work and
60% of parents not check their children home work. The researcher think that those parents did
not always check their childrens. Home work, this is due to them affected by the nature of their
occupations eithr for coming home or having night shifts

in table 13 show that 40% of parents had time to talk to teachers about students academic
progress and 60% had not have time to teachers about students academic progress, this may be
due to lack of time of resting at their working place or the nature of their work

from table 14, it show that 60% of parents giving their children assistance and also they give
time to do their homework and 40% of parents had not giving assistance their children for doing
their homework as well as time. The researcher
assume that those 40% of parents had time for assisting their children or giving them time to did
their homework at home is due to the nature of their work
this also provide by classmasters during intervier. They realized that students who had not done
their homework may be this is due to the nature of their parents occupation, they failed to get
time as well as assistance from their parents on their subjects

5.0. Conclusion and recommendation
This chapter provides a summary of the study with respect with respect to the surveyed literature,
the analysis and the findings
5.1. conclusion.
Basing on the finding of this research the following factotrd do contribute to the role of parents
on students performance in secondary school.
Coming late home due to the nature of their work, it seems that about 40% of parents arrived
during 21:00pm at their home, so they can not manage to check or giving any assistance to their
childrens homework as well as studies
apart from coming late home also other parents occupational do not resemble with their children
objects, for example, drives, watchers soldiers as well as farmers, they did not managed to assist
their child subject matter because they are not have content on it.
According to the nature f parent work it seems that 43.3% of students do not have enough time
for private study at home due to the fact that their parents assumes that they only place for
12. studying is school and at home in home activities, also that increase poor performance in
secondary school
5.2. recommendations
According to this study the role of parents on students performance the research put forward the
following as tentative on parents
Recommendation on parent in order to increasethe performance of student in secondary any
schools
5.2.1 time management
Even though the nature of their occupatios do not support parents to maintain their time table at
home they must real tryto manage their time inorder ti their to beclose with childrns as well as
giving support physically and not only economically
5.2.2. to have a good relationship with teachers
Also parents should have to maintain a good relationship with teachers as a result of receiving
the information early in case there is any academic pboblem about their children due to their fact
the parents will control their children performance will increase

This was carried out in mbeya city at magereza ward, in the southern highland of Tanzania to
investigate on the role of parents on students performance in secondary schools, a case study of
mbeya day secondary school
This employed mixed method of research design both quantitative and qualitative techniques of
data collection were used. Two questionnaire were administered to secure quattative data. A
