Think back to the (last) time you got a start. That is, somebody startled you. Discuss the body parts that responded and how and the role the nervous system played in this. Include figures/diagrams, video links, charts. Explain them in your narrative write-up. When it comes to be scared I have to say I am scary in certain situations. I don’t like scary movies, haunted houses, and roller coasters, anything that has to do with being scared I don’t like. Sometimes my body freezes; my heart starts to race, and my legs and hands start to shake. I even pull blankets over my head when watching scary movies. When something scary happens or when a person has fear there is a stimulus that sends a signal to your brain that there may be in danger. Whether the stimulus is touch, sight, or sound, the scary signal quickly reaches the thalamus at the center of the brain, and goes down to the amygdala. After it is sent to the amygdala it goes deeper into the brain to the neurotransmitter called glutamate that carries the signal into the brain which causes us to freeze or jump which is called the “fight or flight response. Add on to analogy please ?...... Solution In brain amygdala is two section portion of grey matter located in the temporal lobe of the brain . This part concerned with emotion ,fear etc. It alerts you of danger. Neocortex the thinking part signal information to amygdala if there is actual danger or not. When we frightened body releases hormone adrenaline also known as fight or flight hormone. This hormone causes heart to pump more blood to the muscle that is why person feel little shaky or unsteady as more blood supply is given to the muscle. Parasympathetic nervous system counter fight or flight instinct,.Our parasympathetic nervous help us to recognize that threat or scary thing are not true so person calm later on..
