1. Famous Casinos
Casino de Monte Carlo, Monaco
Constructed in 1863, the Casino de Monte Carlo was Monte Carlo’s first and has been its crown jewel of
casinos. The casino was intentionally planned to be a palatial gaming palace. The structure was designed by
architect Charles Gaurnier who also designed the Paris Opera House.
The Casino de Monte Carlo is nearly overdone in rococo styling and architectural detail. The gaming is in
traditional European style with strict behavior and dress codes. Separate salons, or rooms, provide various
styles of games. The rooms are highly stylized and well appointed in their opulence. Stiff fees are charged to
enter each room. Traditional European real casino online games of Monte Carlo are offered: European and
English variations of Roulette, Punta Banco, Chemin De Fer and Banque a deux Tableaux. One of the salons
has been given over in recent years to American-style slot machines. The machines stand around in stark
contrast to the ostentatious period styling.
Bellagio, Las Vegas
Emerging from Steve Wynn’s Mirage Resorts Company, the Bellagio is famed for its most recent stage
presence along the Las Vegas Strip. Opened in 1998, the Bellagio has been unrivalled in its lavishness and
expense to build. The resort cost Wynn an astounding $1.5 billion. Wynn’s special talent, though, has been
to provide Las Vegas with an entire resort package, as opposed to just mere casino games. The Bellagio is
lavishly adorned with white Italian marble and boasts its own botanical gardens and world renowned art
gallery that includes the work of well known masters.
Besides this, the Bellagio upped the ante in the world of retail shopping and fine dining. High rollers are
comfortable here, either in their private gambling lounges or in decked out penthouse suites.
2. Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Connecticut
Foxwoods is owned by the Mashantucket-Pequot Indian tribe of Connecticut and is the biggest and most
lucrative tribal gaming casino in the world. Foxwoods welcomes millions of visitors annually and is
consistently one of the most popular attractions in New England. The casino earns equal to half of all tribal
gaming revenues in the United States, raking in close to one billion dollars a year. Interestingly, the casino is
also the biggest in size in the United States and possibly the world. The whole resort covers over 4 million
square feet, while the casino alone accounts for over 300,000 square feet and boasts over 7,000 slot
machines.
