Health & Safety
The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (alsoreferred to as HSWA, the HSW Act, the 1974 Act or
HASAWA) is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. The
Health and Safety Executive, with local authorities (and other enforcing authorities) is responsible for
enforcing the Act and a number of other Acts and Statutory Instruments relevant to the working
environment.
The Healthy and Safety at work act 1974 made it illegal for an employer to not fill out a risk assessment. The
first thing that must be known about a risk assessment is that there is a difference between a hazard and a
risk; a hazard is something that can potentially harm you, whilst a risk is something that can go wrong due
to a hazard.
I will make sure that:
-When filming never point the camera at the sun. This can be permanently damage the camera sensor and
could affect the camera operator causing blindness.
- Be careful when using the cameras on tilt m as due to the weight and downwards force when the camera
is released it can breakbones or knock an operator unconscious.
- Check battery is fully re-charged before a shoot.
- If filming in closed location be aware of the cables in the floor as someone might get hurt passing by the
camera or microphone cables.
