1. Evaluation of my Flash website
My flash website does meet my original intentions, although changes had to be made for design and
technical issues. An example of this was the interactive map’s colour, it was originally blue and did
not tie into my chosen colour scheme, so I changed it to red, but the background of the website was
red and you couldn’t see it clearly, and the button changed colour in the map and you couldn’t see
them clearly as well, so I inserted a yellow box behind the map to contrast with the background and
to solve the problem of not being able to see the map. I used warm colours in my website such as
reds and yellows, this was to symbolise Australia. I used the font Comic Sans for the text so the
website seems informal and ‘hip’. I used several rollover buttons on the website, hidden buttons on
the interactive map, also interactive booking forms, and scrolling text boxes.
I researched other websites about the colour, images, text, language used within the websites. I did
this so I could create my own idea for a layout of my website using these examples. As I researched
the websites I made a note of the websites contents, and my personal opinions of the websites I
researched. When I finished researching the websites I started to create my storyboards, I designed
the layout, colour scheme, and designed the rollover buttons. I then went on to create my website
using flash.
I managed my time well because I finished the website and written work before the deadline. I
created a diary documenting every tool that I used during the development process. I didn’t stick to
a plan in my creating process I worked on several things at the same time, and not defining what
past of my website I will be creating on a certain day. In hindsight a creation plan would have been a
better alternative, because my creation process would have been more organised.
Now that my website is finished, I have analysed it and decided that improvements could be made.
Firstly I would have more relevant information on the website and a broader range of information. I
would have a search feature and more pages in the website. I would have more images showing or
in context with Australia. Also I would include Tasmania on the interactive map. I would also improve
the navigation on the website by having ‘back to home/ last page’ buttons on certain pages.
