2. Origin of name
• The word “Halloween” is a Scottish variant of
the more complete “All Hallows-Peer“
("night"), that is, the eve of All Saints.
3. •Halloween Day is celebrated on October 31st. Its roots became
from the Celtic festival of “Samhain” and the holiday of All Saints
Day.
•Celebrating Halloween – people (teenagers and adults) wear
fantasy costumes and go to parties or making bonfires (fazem
fogueiras) and children too, but in a different way.
• On this day do shows, tell stories of ghosts (histórias de
fantasmas) and other frightening tales and watching horror
movies.
4. Trick-or-treat
• Trick-or-treat is a customary celebration for children on
Halloween. Children wear fantasy costumes and go from house to
house asking for sweets, such as sweets or money, saying always
this question: "Trick or treat?“. Children do a trick, singing a
song or telling a ghost story to gain sweets or other things from
de adults.
