Focusing on Embodied, Spiritual and Narrative Learning
2. Embodied of Somatic Learning
Somatic- is reference to
the body
Senses are ways in
which we relate items.
How things relate is
essential to the adult
learning experience.
Somatic learning
overlaps, all senses
touched equates to
more knowledge
gained.
3. Spiritually
Spirituality focuses on
discipline.
Discipline evokes the ideas
of effort, commitment, will
power and regimentation all
of which are reasons why
most continue education
Acronym for SPIRITUAL:
Sending
Positive
Ideals
Reflecting
Inner
Thoughts
Uplifting
And always
Lightened through FAITH.
4. Narrative
Storytelling allows for
imagination. Creation of
visual of words with
thoughts
Self-reflection gives a
chance for a visual of
thoughts to come
together.
This again provides for
the building of
relationship.
Connections secures
the knowledge process.
5. Examples
Somatic
Spirituality
The more you do something the more it becomes second nature to
do.
From sports, flexibility and even sensitivity to touch such as with
heat or cold.
provides focus for the learning course. Provides a foundation of
give and take.
The more that can be sacrificed the more that can be gained. As
with those who believe in tithes and offerings or sacrificial offering.
Same with karma, and or the golden rules. What is given is
ultimately received.
Narrative
most people tend to remember “juicy gossip” while translated in a
variety of ways, the gist of the information is still conveyed.
Also with self reflection journaling provides for a way to organize
thoughts. Gives you a chance to see, hear and then reflect.
Thus fables, fairytales & personal adventures, the relation of a
story seemingly always expresses a lesson.
6. Summary
The visions of each of these learning aspects are not
new simply amplified.
Each play a role in the growth of understanding adult
education.
Narrative, spirituality and somatic learning are all
needed to have continual learning.
They each provide experience, experience is one of
the primary ways in which we learn thus, these three
avenues provide foundation to the learning practice.
