by comparing one example of each style from
a PowerPoint gallery.

• Lots of shell-like curves

• Wanted to lighten the
‘heaviness’ of Baroque work

• Go online and access my Baroque and Rococo exhibits
from the SWIFT site (Hum 10 Enlightenment section)
• Go through each gallery once and simply look at each
piece – talk, enjoy, think
• Go through again and choose 3 of each type and make a
note of the characteristics using our 4 tools of analysis
– Technique
– Theme
– Style
– Organization
• You may talk with your partner about the art
• Observe Gallery protocols – your conversation should
not be heard by those around you.
19. Final assessment
• Choose 1 example from the Baroque gallery and 1
example from the Rococo gallery (they need to be the
same medium (art, building, furniture)
• In your comp book, write a two paragraph response (7-
10 sentences) in which you analyze these two pieces
with one point of comparison and one point of contrast.
• How is art a reflection of society?
– Technique (color, medium [canvas vs. mural])
– Theme (the topic: religious vs. everyday life)
– Style (sculpture, furniture)
– Organization (the way in which your piece was presented -)
• We will read your comp books for assessment
– If we can not read your handwriting, we will not even look at it.
– You can type up your response and tape it in your comp book if
you desire
