My initial experience with assure and application of technology
1. My initial experience with ASSURE and application of technology
Having created lesson plans before I thought that this lesson plan wouldn’t be as difficult.
However, I was taken back when given the task to follow the ASSURE model along with
incorporating technology within my lesson plan. This was the first time I have used the
ASSURE model which really was not difficult to follow. However, when it came down to
how I could possibly incorporate my lesson with the use of some technology I was quite
taken back for a second.
The idea of attempting to device my lesson with technology had me questioning how I
would be able to execute a lesson with incorporating technology. My lesson I created was
to teach 8-9 year olds a better understanding of reading their nutritional label to conclude
weather that particular fruit juice box was 100% fruit. I then thought to myself how
would I possibly get my students to understand how to graph their findings and this was
when I came across a website called “Kids Zone learning with NCES (create a graph)”.
Within this particular site once the students have gone through their findings and have
produced their results they would then access this site and produce their graph of choice.
The site was very user friendly in that it takes the individual step by step to create their
desired graph.
After looking through the NETS*T standards I was able to link my lesson plan with
NETS’T Standard 5D “use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers,
parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.” By doing so I
was able to understand the different approaches that allow students and peers to
communicate and get across the needed information therefore, another tool for learning
(incorporating technology).
