Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal band who are influenced and inspired by “queen” and “pink Floyd”
which suggests that there songs have great meaning and a lot of their works are based on historical fact
(or legend in some cases).
The band’s name comes from a device of torture used during the Spanish Inquisition which in itself has many
connotations about the band as it shows that there idea’s behind their work is about exploring areas that people
are scared of exploring and knowing about, situations or thoughts that people try not to think about and usually
avoid. Many of Iron Maidens song names suggest this idea such as “Fear of the Dark” and “Dance of Death”, both
these songs explore the idea behind the darkest fears and something people try to pretend doesn’t exist. Iron
Maiden like many heavy metal bands are the band that rebel against morals and the rules or society, they
challenge the rules and question the norms and values as they feel that the band members are more loyal and
trusting that the people in suits who pretend they are civilized.
Iron Maidens fans are very loyal and are obsessed which is not something I can say for other genre music which
shows the effect there music has on the audience; they allow people who are unique in their own ways to express
their feelings and not to be ashamed of their appearance. The fans tend to dress and look like the band themselves
as they say that is how they feel inside therefore they shouldn’t hide their emotions with “normal” cloths.
