2. Preposition
•A preposition is a short word used to link nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other
words within a sentence.
•They are normally placed directly before the noun

Usage 1: With day / date Example: On Monday / On 10th October
Usage 2: With words ‘day’ / ‘date’ Example: On Independence Day / On that date
Usage 3: With word ‘weekend’ (American English) Example: On Weekend

Usage 1: With Months / Seasons / Year | Specific time of day Example: In July / In
Summer / In 2017 | in the noon / in the morning
Usage 2: With Period of time from past to now
Example: This is the first time I’ve had ice cream in past 2 years
7. At
Usage 1: With Precise Time Example: at 10:30 / at sunset
Usage 2: With words ‘time’ / ‘moment’ Example: at time of arrival / at that
moment
Usage 3: Special time of the year Example: at Easter / at Diwali
8. To
Usage 1: Until a particular time to mark end of a period of time
Example: It’s only 2 weeks to project submission
Usage 2: To indicate remaining time in a stated hour
Example: It’s 20 to 5 (It means time is 4:40 and 20 minutes left to turn 5 o’clock)

Usage 1: From a specific point of time in the past until now
Example:
Since 10 am | Since last Wednesday | Since his farewell
10. For
Usage 1: To show a length or amount of time
Example:
For 20 minutes | For 2 years | For an hour or so
11. Ago/back
Usage 1: Specific time in the past from now
Example:
2 years back | 2 years ago
I was an intermediate 2 years back/ago
12. Before
Usage 1: To show an activity earlier than stated time
Example:
Before his arrival | Before dawn
13. By
Usage 1: Before stated time; not later than that
Example:
•I will be there by 10:30am
•By Wednesday evening, you will get the complete report
14. During
Usage 1: To show an activity for a continuous time period
Example: During the session | During the meeting
Usage 2: A specific length of period
Example: During the morning | During prom night
*During means throughout the states activity or event
15. Till/Until
Usage 1: Up to the stated time
Example:
•I will be in town till/until Friday
* Till is more commonly used.
