2. James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen
Hendrix; Seattle, November 27, 1942, – London,
September 18, 1970) was an American musician, singer
and songwriter.
5. Following success in Europe with his band the Jimi
Hendrix Experience, he achieved fame in the United
States after his performance at the Monterey Pop
Festival. Later, he headlined the Woodstock Festival in
1969.
6. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair was a music
festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of
Peace & Music"
7. Hendrix is widely known for and associated with the
use of psychedelic drugs, most notably lysergic acid
diethylamide (LSD), as were many other famous
musicians and celebrities of that time. He supposedly
had never taken psychedelic drugs until the night he
met Linda Keith, but had smoked cannabis and drank
alcohol previously.
9. Early on September 18,
1970, Jimi Hendrix died
in London. Hendrix had
taken nine Vesparax
sleeping pills. The
normal medical dose
was a half to one tablet.
