1. EXHIBIT SUMMARY
Accurate teleradiological interpretations require the teleradiologist to be aware of all patient
information submitted by the referring physician, the patient, and the technologist who
performs the imaging examination.
We describe the development of software that automates the routine inclusion of non-digital
paper-based data directly into DICOM examinations.
No human intervention is required. The software works by allowing the direct faxing of
non-digital paper-based patient data directly into DICOM imaging examinations, and is added
as the first series in the examination.
The software is effective in any typical PACS/DICOM server environment and is called the
DICOMfaxadder (DFA)

3. Event A) Client Site sends an examination to our DICOM server for interpretation. Examination ar-
rives.
Event B) DICOMQuery portion of the DFA detects a new examination residing on our DICOM
server. It copies the DICOM header information to the faxadder database, and sends a coded fax
cover sheet back to the originating site’s fax machine.
Event C) Personnel at client site match the newly arrived fax cover sheet with the patient’s paper-
work corresponding and fax the papers back to the Autosend portion of the DICOMfaxadder.
Autosend then decodes the barcode, pulls the DICOM header information for the examination
from the database, converts the multipage fax to DICOM format images and adds the header in-
formation to each piece of paperwork with a series value of 0.
Event D) Autosend forwards the newly formed series 0 containing all the patient’s paperwork to
our DICOM server, where the new series is attached to the imaging examination as the first series
in the examination. When the radiologist opens the exam for interpretation, the first series to be
displayed is the paperwork with the clinical information.
