4. The Islamic Art is very old one, it goes back to the seventh
century, it began and spread with time in all the Muslim Territory.
This art is not specifically of a religion, time, place, or of a single
medium like painting, it consists of a variety of arts such as
calligraphy, painting, glass, ceramics, and textiles and others.
Even though The Islamic Art is hard to define, it has
a unique and characteristic style making it easy to be distinguished
which is the repeating elements of Islamic art, such as the use of
geometrical floral or vegetal designs in a repetition known as the
Arabesque. But most of all what truly differentiate the Islamic Art is
the focus on Arabic Calligraphy to enhance the visual appeal of walls,
domes of buildings and mosques, furniture and even coins.

6. Methaq Alghazzi is an Iraqi artist born in 1975, He holds a
diploma in Islamic Studies and he is a member of the Iraqi
Calligraphers Association and a member of the Forum of Culture
and Arts.
He loved Calligraphy and excelled in it until he was named one of
it’s pioneers. This passion started in his early childhood as he had
outstanding handwriting since elementary school. He began
studying the rules of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic
ornamentation from Calligraphy professors in Baghdad such as:
Professor Abdul Rida Alqurmla - The Vice-President of the
Iraqi Calligraphers Association, Mr. Abdul-Hussein al-Rikabi,
Haj Khalil al-Zahawi, Abbas al-Baghdadi and Adnan Kazzaz.
7. Methaq Elghazi have participated in several exhibitions
and forums where he obtained several certificates,
including a certificate of appreciation from ElKufa’s first
contest of Quranic Calligraphy, a certificate of
appreciation from the Directorate of Education of Dhi
Qar, Iraq and a certificate of appreciation from the
Forum and Exhibition Of Arabic Calligraphy.
His Paintings were selected to be displayed in the
famous Syrian series “Bab Elhara”.
His paintings are sold around the middle east and
worldwide.
8. Methaq Elghazi is licensed by the Iraqi Calligrapher Sheikh
Haj Mehdi Al-Jubouri who is licensed by the Turkish pioneer,
the last Ottoman calligrapher Hamid Al-Amdi
Methaq Algazzi have captured the
attention of Iraq’s best Calligraphies.
He have received his license of excellence
from the great Calligrapher Mehdi alJubouri who is one the students of
Hamid Al-Amdi himself, an icon of this
art and one of the last Ottoman
calligraphers.
Mahdi Al-jabouri is considered one of the
fathers of Iraqi Calligraphy. Born in
1928, in Rumaitha, Mahdi Al-Jabouri
founded “The Association of Iraqi
Calligraphers” and “The House of
Calligraphy” in 1954, He holds a
number of awards in calligraphy from
Hamid Al-Amdi and others.
Hamid Al-Amdi is one of the giants of
Calligraphy, he was described by
researches as “an ancestor of the 3
greatest Calligraphers in history ; Ibn
Muqla, Yaqoot Al-Mustasemi and Ibn
Al-Bawab.
Hamid Al-Amdi has many notable works,
but some its most outstanding is the
Calligraphy of Holy Quran and the
Calligraphy of the dome of Kocatepe
Mosque in Ankara- Turkey as well as
the Dome’s Calligraphy of Moda and
Gartal mosques in Istanbul-Turkey.
Hence, Methaq Elghazzi was licensed
and taught by the best and finest
calligraphers of their times!

essential to hold on to the Arab and Muslim Identity and the arts which
