God By Rowlandson
True to the letter, thanks to her knowledge of the Bible, Rowlandson uses this expression to qualify
her conviction that God will never leave His people forsaken. More specifically, these declaration of
God by Rowlandson are reflective of the common consensus among Christians that all that which
happens in our lives has a reason, and that such happens at the Will of God, whether good or bad in
nature. Indeed, in making this claim, Rowlandson is expressive of the fact that God has remained on
her side as a source of blessings and protection through the challenging life she has been so far. As
such, Bible in the narrative is portrayed as a psychological state in which faith as well as belief in its
teachings is for Rowlandson and the many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an emphasis of the Bible as source for a psychological state in Rowlandson and other Puritans is
clear in the numerous Biblical quotations Rowlandson makes in the narrative. Notable expressions
of a psychological state in Rowlandson from her use of the Bible include on the one hand the way
she found comfort of her heart–taking thoughts concerning the safety of her family members who
had been scattered by the war. Despite being wounded and captive, Rowlandson states of how she
found a way of expressing her heart–taking feelings to God by reading a verse in the Bible: "I
opened my Bible to read, and the Lord brought that precious scripture to me, Jer. 31. 16. Thus saith
the Lord; refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded,
saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the Enemy" (Rowlandson 78). Whenever
she is shattered by obstacles, she feels tranquility by reading the Bible.
This is indicative that Bible in the narrative is used as source of encouragement to go on without
worries since God; the Lord of Lords shall see His people through the land of the enemy and reunite
them in safety and peace. This sense of the Bible as a psychological state is also clear in the
perception that Rowlandson had towards the rafts that the captors,

What Is Child Dedication? Essay
II. CHILD DEDICATION
What is Child Dedication?
It is the ceremonial act of publicly consecrating a child's life to God, undertaken by parents, during a
worship service in the temple. Through this symbolic rite, parents, on one hand, promise to raise the
child in the fear of the Lord, and the congregation, on the other hand, commits to help the parents
achieve such a goal by keeping an eye on the child in the community and by encouraging them to
bring the child to Sunday schools, worship services, and other church activities in relation with his
Christian training.
Why Do Major Protestant Churches Practice Child Dedication?
Infant baptism as some churches practice it today dates back to the second century of the Christian
era. However, the Bible does not account any infant baptism. When biblical passages such as Acts
16:15, 33 and Acts 18:8 mention the baptism of a whole household, we can assume that there might
have been some infants or children among them. And yet, it still remains an assumption. As a result,
many protestant churches do not practice infant baptism, they instead practice the ceremony of baby
or child dedication.
This idea of child dedication is found in the first chapter of the first book of Samuel where Hannah,
after giving birth to Samuel, took him to the temple to give him back to the Lord. Dedicating a child
to the Lord is publicly acknowledging that the child is a gift from Him and at the same he is a gift
you don't want to solely raise as parents.

Personal Narrative: A Premature Child
People say it will be ok, just keep on going and don't give up. Very simple words but difficult to
perceive. Sometimes people don't see the magnitude of the emotions on that person's life until
something similar comes your way. It was August 13th, 2011, when my daughter Katelynn was
born; 1 lb 13 oz. A premature baby, which doctors didn't give me much hope that she would make it.
I remember the agony I was feeling, knowing that the most precious and most awaited gift was
slipping away. My Heart was breaking apart into millions of piece with nothing for me to do but
wait. On the outside, I tried to show a positive attitude, believing that the God all mighty could give
me the victory; a miracle. Despite my hurt, I gave thanks to the Lord with all my heart for the
blessing He had given me, to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Walden Beliefs
There were people who lived in history who were full of virtue, wisdom, and strength; they cause
you to look up to them with admiration and respect. They suffered and yet they were not defeated.
They were beaten down, but not broken. They were so full of faith and honor that you wished you
had the same faith and honor in your life today. These people endured much and yet prospered–
these people were the Waldenses. The Waldenses name brings a picture to your mind, usually this
picture is of families all coming together and hiding in the Alps, praising God and worshiping Him.
This image is only partly true, however, there is so much more about the Waldensians than just
hiding in the Alps and worshiping God. They were people who loved God and ... Show more

We as Seventh–day Adventists firmly believe that the true day of worship is the seventh day of the
week and we will not comply with the world. This will lead to us being persecuted just as the
Waldenses were back in the 12th century. And as they found refuge in the lofty bulwarks of the
mountains, so we will find refuge high in the mountains. In the Bible it says, "I look up to the
mountain does my help come from there my help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and
earth! (Psalms 121:1–2) The Waldenses searched the Bible and lived according to the Bible and
their knowledge of it. In the last days people are going to be deceived and lead astray because of one
thing– they didn't read their Bible. The people back in the Reformation time period died for the
Holy word of God, and today we let it collect dust on our bookshelves. Perhaps it's time we go back
to reading the Bible and growing our relationship with Jesus. When this happens then the Word will
go to the ends of the world and Jesus will

A True History of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson by Mrs. Mary...
The Theme of "A True History of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson" by Mrs. Mary Rowlandson
In the times of colonies when land was untouched there was a distinct hatred between the native
Indians and the new colonists. As one reads the essay: A True History of the Captivity and
Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, written by Mary Rowlandson in 1682, one will understand
this hatred. Although the Indians captured Mary Rowlandson, with the faith of God she was safely
returned. The reader learns of her religious messages and how she turns to God for safety and strong
will. One sees how her Puritan beliefs are of the strong New England Puritans way of life. The
reader also understands through her words how she views the Indians and their way of ... Show

28). Once she was taken she lost all hope, but there was one spark still left inside her weak and frail
body. That single spark was the belief in God and his miracles. In all her times of despair and
hardship she turned to prayer and deliverance from God. It is not my tongue or pen can express the
sorrows of my heart and bitterness of my spirit that I had at this departure: but God was with me in a
wonderful manner, carrying me along, and bearing up my Spirit, that it did not quite fail
(Rowlandson p. 30). With the death of her child and the ever growing pain in her arm she managed
to migrate with the Indians and relying on God for strength. But the Lord renewed my strength still,
and carried me along, that I might see more of his power, yea, so much that I could never have
thought of had I not experienced it (Rowlandson p. 30). On the third remove she is given a key, a
book that is the answer to all her troubles. I cannot but take notice of the wonderful mercy of God to
me in those afflictions, in sending me a Bible (Rowlandson p. 34). A Indian had received a Bible
and gave it to her. This present to Rowlandson was a light; a light that if used and worshiped could
save her soul. As the Indians moved she moved too, no matter where they went it always lead to hell
for her. She had no Christian Friends or anyone to talk too; all she had was the Bible

Analysis Of Footprints
Footprints, a poem by Mary Stevenson, words in this poem I have hidden away in my heart to carry
with me through thick and thin in my life. The poem is describing a person's journey through life as
a walk on the beach. Throughout the walk of life, the author would look back and find two sets of
footprints. One of these sets is hers; the other set is God's. Looking back on the hard times,
however; she finds only one set of footprints. When she asks God why he left in her times of need,
He replies, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during your trials
and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." Those words
always send chills up my spine. The good kind of chills. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And unfortunately, more often than not, we tend to habitually be like the author of this poem and
question the Lord. "I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there
was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would
leave me." We have an inclination to jump to the worst conclusion. That our loving Creator, left us
there to suffer. Even though we may assume this. It is never true. We are the ones that leave. We
stray from Him. We leave Him in the sand and try and make it through on our own. If we would
only let Him in. He would gladly sustain us through those rough times. Our God is so gracious, that
even when we wander away, He helps us find our way back. He offers again and again to help us
through. This poem continues to serve as a reminder to me. A reminder that my God will never
leave me. Isaiah 43:2 clearly states, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and
when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

(NIV) He is always there for me. He is the one I can always depend on. The picture I took was an
easier and closer reminder. I often look back onto this picture. I find it brings hope, joy, relief,

Similarities Between The Merchant Of Venice And Othello
Ill luck?
In comparing the so called "villains" of Shakespeare's two plays, The Merchant of Venice and
Othello, we see similarities and differences between the two villains. The first similarity being that
both villains seek revenge. Shylock seeks revenge on Antonio, he wants "an equal pound of his
flesh" (1.3.146). Iago as well seeks the destruction and death of his adversary, Othello.
Other similarities we see is that they are both ruthless, merciless and even barbaric at times. Shylock
will not stop until Antonio is dead, likewise Iago will also not stop until Othello is dead.
However, when comparing their characteristics, one will see they are very different people. Shylock
is more anthropomorphic, we also often we find him in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A very interesting "characteristic" of Iago is his reputation for being a very honest man. This status
given to him is entirely the opposite of his real nature. I would like to look at this aspect of his
character for a moment as well as why he is so trusted. The latter comes from the former because if
one has a reputation for honesty he will be trusted. Iago has a great reputation for honesty, how is
this possible for a man we know so well to be a liar? In order for one to have a reputation for
honesty one must have first been honest for a considerable amount of time. How can one be known
for honesty while being a liar his whole life? It is not possible. One must first be honest in order to
acquire that prestige. This causes me to believe that Iago was once an honest man. It is not known
when he commenced his evil ways, but it is plausible that once he did not receive the position that
he thought rightfully his, he changed his way of life right there and then. We cannot tell what it was
but we can recognize that at some point in his life he was very honest.
Another of Iago's interesting characteristics is the way he abuses his reputation. He uses the fact that
everyone trusts him to his advantage.

Mary Rowlandson Captivity Summary
Mary Rowlandson was a Puritan colonist of the town of Lancaster, who was captured by Indians
that attacked her village and sized a number of colonists as captives. Rowlandson, like many
Puritans of her time, held strong religious beliefs about God and about the way he expresses his will
(love and lessons) through one's struggles in life. This Puritan ideology of hers was never more
apparent than in her text called, "A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary
Rowlandson".
This narrative depicts the hardships of Rowlandson's captivity with the Native Americans,
throughout their many removes in the wilderness. In each remove she is subjected to another "trial"
or hardship that only seems to confirm her belief that God is testing

Noble Qualities Of Beowulf
What defines a hero? A hero is someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding
achievements, or noble qualities. The values of an Anglo–Saxon are bravery, truth, honor, loyalty,
duty, hospitality, and perseverance. Such traits define an epic hero, who with noble motivations
preservers through the toughest obstacles. Beowulf is this hero, he is a true hero with true noble
motivations and good intention.
Beowulf is a fair fighter and helps the people of Herot by slaying Grendel without his weapons. "He
needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I my lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword
go where my feet were afraid to...my hands alone shall fight for me."(168–173). This means he will
fight without his weapon, and only with his hands, to show his bravery and valor. As a noble hero he
is, Beowulf decides to not use his weapons nor his armor and only use his fists to battle Grendel.
Beowulf is a hero, who against all odds fights in the face of death, and who fights for his people in
honor.
Beowulf is a fierce warrior who fights for good and helps his people, even if it means to sacrifice
himself for the greater good."His grace has given me allowed me to bring to my people while breath
still moves to my lips...Take what I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people, help them; my time is gone."
(805–812). "Fought with fate against him, with glory denied him, he knew it, but he raised his
sword struck at the dragon's scaly hide."(668–670). As Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to lead his
people with the jewels he won from his battle with the dragon. He discovers fear, yet battles it even
if fate is against him. Beowulf fights until death beats him, he never gave up to any battle that came
upon him. Though at times of his journeys, Beowulf receives praise and glory from all the victories
which came upon him.
It is true, at times of Beowulf's journey he becomes greedy and has a thirst for fame and
glory."...Bring me ancient silver, precious jewels, shining armor and gems, before I die. Death will
be softer, leaving life and this people I've rules so long, if I look at this last of all prizes."(762–765).
This shows that at his time of death he finds himself pleased being around his prizes and precious
jewels.

Who Is The Antagonist In Hamlet

Blasting his wholesome brother. Does he have your eyes?

My Sister, Marsha, And My Family
My sister, Marsha, and I wanted to live in the small town we grew–up in, so we stayed with Daddy
for several years. We were teenagers by then and with Dad's party side and being divorced, he was
gone most of the time. Unsupervised, like a great deal of teens, we appeared at times unruly. Nearly
all my relatives and the majority of the town looked on disapprovingly. I can still hear my Aunt Lula
Bell swearing, "Mr. Alfred is not 'doin right' by you girls, running the roads – leaving y'all alone –
now y'all mind yourselves and go to church to make everything right." In the south, going to church
was the ultimate goal of walking the line and making it 'right' with the LORD. Periodically, I guess
my Daddy's conscious would get the best of him, and we would dress–up and go to my
Grandparent's on several Sundays. After church I could hear my Dad being reprimanded about me
and my sister by my loving grandmother. She adored my Dad, but had a stern Baptist constitution.
They would be crying in each other's arms and him swearing to 'Sugar Mama' he would do better.
Alas, for poor ole' Mr. Alfred that lasted until the next country song was played; which was pretty
quick. Of course, with Marsha and I being teenagers, we basically liked the situation; we had charge
accounts all over town, and our apartment became the number one hangout for quite a few
teenagers. During this time, religion had principally faded into the background for me, as my utmost

dropped everything he was doing to go out his way to help others that were in trouble. Despite the

Thematic Analysis Of Psalm 22
Psalm 22 is a Davidic psalm found in the Old Testament of the Bible and it contains a reoccurring
theme of suffering and deliverance both in the Old and New Testaments. This messianic psalm
prophesizes the suffering of Jesus on the cross, his resurrection, and the forgiveness of sin for those
who take up their cross and follow him. The psalm can be separated into two distinct sections. The
first section describes Christ's excruciating suffering and torment on the cross. The second section is
a victorious depiction of the outcome of Christ's suffering. Both sections convey the passion of
Jesus and the extent of his faith. The first verse of the Psalm "My God, My God, why have you
forsaken me?" are the very words Jesus cried out on the cross during Calvary some 200 years after
the psalm was written. This presents the question of how can God forsake God, since Jesus is the
second Godhead of the trinity? Because Jesus was God and man perfectly united in a single person
it would be there on the cross that Jesus's manhood is most prevalently displayed. Jesus knew that
God would answer him and he would not be forsaken forever, but the torture he suffered was so
strong that he could not feel what he knew. He felt the wrath of God directed against the sin of all ...

recollecting God's past saving action to "the fathers" who put their trust in him and were saved. This
contrasts God's past active deliverance of his people, Jesus's ancestors, with His present experience
of silence that escalates the sufferer's pain. In this moment, Jesus cannot say as he once had "I am
not alone. I stand with the Father who sent me."(John 8:16)

The Church Of The Roman Empire
The early church was hated by the society and government of the Roman Empire for various
reasons, such as the refusal of Christians to sacrifice to the gods. The Empire went through many
phases of demanding that the Christians sacrifice which meant denying their faith or be killed. The
earliest attacks claimed the lives of many of the apostles. This text is the story, from around 160 AD,
of the martyrdom of Polycarp, the Bishop of the church in Smyrna, a city in Asia Minor (modern
Izmir in Turkey) devoted to Roman worship. The account is in the form of a letter from eye–
witnesses to other churches in the area. It is the earliest chronicle of a martyrdom outside the New
Testament.Polycarp was an old man, at least 86, and probably the last surviving person to have
known an apostle, having been a disciple of St. John. This was one reason he was greatly revered as
a teacher and church leader. One interesting feature of the letter is that the writer is very conscious
of how Polycarp's death followed the pattern of Christ's. As you read it, look for parallels between
this story and the Easter story in the gospels. We are writing to you, brothers, with an account of the
martyrs, especially the blessed Polycarp, whose death brought to the persecution to a close. Almost
all the events that led up to it reveal it to be another martyrdom in the divine pattern that we see in
the Gospel. For he waited for his betrayal, just like the Lord did, so that we might follow him, in

Reoccurring Themes Of Evil In The Fellowship Of The Ring
The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines evil as "morally reprehensible" and "causes harm". Some
will debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time.
Throughout J.R.R. Tolkien's first part of The Lord of the Rings, "The Fellowship of the Ring", there
are reoccurring themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary
depending on who possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are
demonstrated, "The Fellowship of the Ring" suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over
time. Evil is prominent throughout "The Fellowship of the Ring". Shortly after Boromir suggests
that they use the Ring against Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, "is altogether evil"
(267). The Ring was crafted with the sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring
which says, "One ring to bring them all and in the darkness to bind them" (50). This script shows
that the ring was created to draw other to "darkness", which is often used to symbolize evil. While
the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil thing in Middle–Earth: "For noting was evil in the
beginning. Even Sauron was not so." (267). Throughout "The Fellowship of the Ring", there is a
close correlation between the one ring and evil, as Elrond says, "The very desire of it corrupts the
heart" (267). When Gandalf the Grey suggests that Bilbo leaves the ring behind before he goes on
his journey, Bilbo

How Is Longfellow Similar To A Psalm Of Life
The infamous poem "A Psalm of Life," written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and chapter 39 of
the book of Psalm in the Bible share many similarities as they both give advice on how to live one's
life. However, there are several differences in the two. In "A Psalm of Life," the author wants to
send out the message of not to live life in pursuit of death, but rather embrace every moment of it in
pursuit of happiness. Although heaven maybe the ultimate goal in the end, we should all work to
live life to the fullest . Life does not end with death, the soul lives on after earth, "Dust thou art, to
dust returnest/Was not spoken of the soul." Longfellow is saying that time on Earth is only
temporary and life goes on beyond earth. Similar to that stanza, in Psalm 39:12,13, the Bible

Personal Narrative : My Sister, Marsha, And I
At the time, my sister, Marsha, and I wanted to live in the small town we grew–up in; therefore, we
resided with my Dad for several years. We were teenagers by then and realistically needed a great
deal of discipline; unfortunately, for us, with Dad's party side and being divorced, he remained gone
the majority of the time. Unsupervised, like various other teens, we appeared at times unruly. Nearly
all my relatives and the majority of the town looked on disapprovingly. I can still hear my Aunt
Katie Bell swearing, "Mr. Alfred is not 'doin right' by you girls, running the roads – leaving y'all
alone – now y'all mind yourselves and go to church to make everything right." Again, in the south,
going to church remains the ultimate goal of walking the line and 'making it 'right with the LORD.
Periodically, I guess my Daddy's conscious would get the best of him, and we would dress–up and
go to my Grandparent's on several Sundays. After church I could hear my Dad being reprimanded
regarding me and my sister by my loving grandmother. She adored my Dad; however, still had a
stern Baptist constitution. They would be crying in each other's arms and him swearing to 'Sugar
Mama' he would do better. Alas, for poor ole' Mr. Alfred, that lasted until he played the next country
song; which, occurred pretty rapidly. Of course, with Marsha and I being teenagers, we basically
liked the situation; we had charge accounts all over town, and our apartment became the number one
hangout for quite a

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Sword Of The Morning '
A few days later word a messenger from one of villages in the Kingswood alerted the Brotherhood
that the King had sent a detachment led by Ser Arthur Dayne to apprehend them and force them to
atone for their crimes. The news caused Alayna's heart to burst because she knew if Arthur was
present he would see this assignment through to the bloody end.
"'The Sword of the Morning' is coming for us, huh?" The Smiling Knight hummed, thoughtfully,
interrupting Alayna's internal monologue, "I'd like to have his fancy sword."
Unable to keep her mouth shut any longer after having spent days listening to these criminals
belittle the good men of the Kingsguard, Alayna spoke up to defend her friend, "You are unworthy

Alayna gasped out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and sunk back against the stone
wall behind her. Her cheek throbbed, painfully, reminding her not to open her mouth again while the
Smiling Knight was around.
In light of the news that an elite detachment sent by the King was searching for them, the
Brotherhood barely strayed far from their hideout. Strengthening their defenses, the outlaws began
taking watch and readying their weapons for an attack to come at any moment. Still days passed,
tensely as they waited for more news to arrive from the small folk. Yet nothing had come since word
of Ser Arthur's company had been brought to them. It was a suspicious thing, usually, at least one
person for the villages came per day. However, not a single man, woman, or child had shown up
since then. Alayna wondered if Arthur had something to do with it. She knew he was more than
capable of finding a way to turn the small folk back to the King's side at least long enough to
apprehend the Brotherhood.
Alayna and the other nobles waited on a breath of hope that rescue would come. She had done her
best to keep their hopes up and had even resorted in encouraging them to pray with the Septa.
Anything to raise their spirits. At one point, even she found herself praying

Today 's Culture : Is It Still Exist? Today? S Culture?
Rest? Does it even exist in today's culture?
Consistently saturated in constant noise,it surrounds us everywhere, be it work, social media,
school, goals. Somewhere along the way the world has programmed us to keep moving and never
slow down.
The spirit of busy consumes our downtime we saturate ourselves in tv, scrolling through Pintrest,
updating our Facebook, taking selfies and constantly meditating on the worries of today.
The rest stop, we park in is worry, and busyness is our companion. Fear drives our motivation to
stay connected in the world , it pushes us through our days, propelling us farther away from the
destiny in which the Lord is calling us to.
The Lord has been dealing with me about my former self.
That nasty black hole which resided in me fed off of constant busyness, And I believed, if I stayed
busy, and connected to the world no one would forget about me. By pushing harder in my work and
made more money eventually, that hole inside would fill to overflowing.
However the more I strived, the harder I pushed, the sicker I became. Until the only shell of a
person remained. When I gave my life to Christ, He started an immediate work in me. Like a puzzle
He started rearranging the pieces in my life and highlighting my true priorities.
The Lord chose me and my purpose was for Him. And he spoke into my heart that I would never
feel fulfilled until I walked with Him towards my destiny.
In a vision one morning in prayer the Lord showed me how

Glue In Romeo And Juliet
Glue can be viewed as a sticky mess; however, it is the mold and foundation for the basis of many
things. Glue is a binder for many things including art projects and practical crafts. Much like how
literal glue sticks objects together, metaphoric glue keeps order. For instance, a father is the glue of
a family because he is a protector, a money–maker, and a lover. In the dramatic play Romeo and
Juliet by William Shakespeare, two families' feuds have to keep lovers apart until their deaths. Their
families start to fall apart as the mold holding them together does as well. Young Juliet ends her life
far too early because her father, Lord Capulet, has a wrath that is too much to put up a fight with.
Her father gives her orders that she refuses to take, but unfortunately he does not like to hear the
word "no." Nonetheless, chaos unfolds to what seems to be no end. Ultimately, Lord Capulet's
power and temper both weakens and strengthens the glue that holds together the Capulet name. ...

Thomas A. Dorsey and Gospel Music Essay
Thomas A. Dorsey and Gospel Music
Gospel songs combined religious lyrics with melodies and rhythms inspired by early blues and jazz.
Many churches rejected this new integration of religious conviction and popular song as devil's
music that had no place in a house of worship.
Thomas A. Dorsey, the "Father of Gospel Music" described gospel, saying, "It's evangelistic, it has a
rhythm and carries a message with the feeling and fever that many sacred songs do not have, the
gospel is good news." "Good News" is often used as a reference to the word of God. Gospel music
is sometimes simply called good news.
Thomas Andrew Dorsey, the "Father of Gospel Music," began using the phrase "gospel songs" in
the mid–1920s, for a new kind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Chicago, Dorsey, known during these years by several stage names––Barrelhouse Tom, Texas
Tommy, and, most commonly, Georgia Tom––started out playing theaters, clubs, and rent parties
(parties held to raise rent money). By 1930, however, Georgia Tom Dorsey had become a success as
a bluesman––composing, performing, and recording the blues with many talented musicians,
including Ma Rainey and Tampa Red.
Georgia Tom Dorsey worked with many of the significant early blues performers of Chicago. "Ma"
and her husband "Pa" Rainey played across the country in the early days of the blues. Dorsey saw
her sing at the 81 Theater as early as 1912, when he was just 13. A decade later, Dorsey, living and
working in Chicago, was asked to put a new band together for her. Ma Rainey and her Wild Cats
Jazz Band opened at Chicago's Grand Theater to a full house.
Thomas Andrew Dorsey met Nettie Harper at Dorsey's uncle's rooming house, where Nettie and
Thomas each boarded for a time.
On August 1, 1925, they were married in Chicago and on August 2 they left to travel with Ma
Rainey and her band. Ma hired Nettie to be her wardrobe mistress. Nettie and Thomas were on the
road together and Thomas was arranging and playing for one of the biggest stars in his profession.
Dorsey said, "[I]t was a joy, just like a big long honeymoon."
In late summer 1932, Dorsey went to a meeting in St. Louis for a few days.

Why Is A Funeral?
Why a Funeral?
Man, indeed, has always showed respect for the remains of a human being. It is as if there was a
tacit agreement between us to pay a particular tribute to a dead person. Funeral constitutes a special
opportunity, for the friends and close relatives of the deceased, to show their support to the bereaved
family at a moment when they badly need it. It aims mainly at helping the living to adjust after the
loss of a loved one.
What are the Main Reasons Why we Hold a Funeral?
1. To Glorify God 's Name.
The authority of God on life as well as death is undeniable. Just as life is a part of God 's plan, death
also is a part of it.
"The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21b)
2. To Honor Man
The separation of the soul of the deceased from his body does not suggest that we can dispose his
remains lightly. What human being would have wished that his corpse be treated as a thing? Man is,
by nature, a spiritual being. Accordingly, his life as well as its death is precious. Furthermore, the
body of a believer is God 's temple up to his last breath.
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have
from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your
body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)
3. To Show our Faith
The Christian already carries with him the seed of a life beyond death. Funeral provides him the

Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare's Othello
Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the
right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable power
that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete
understanding of his victims' nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have
any core beliefs or morals, Iago gains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In
short, the biggest factor that contributes to Iago's successful manipulation is his ability to carefully
select words in the language.
Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior
and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full
advantage of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago's expertise in the English
language and shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are
conversating about the plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona:
Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft.
Iago: Indeed?
Othello: Indeed? ... Is he not honest?
Iago: Honest, my lord?
Othello: Honest, ay, honest.
Iago: My lord, for aught I know.
Othello: What dost thou think?
Iago: Think, my lord?
Othello: Think, my lord?
(act III. sc iii. Ll 100–105)
This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of
doubt into Othello's mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys
the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert
when it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into
Othello's psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an
answer but instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio's devotion to
Othello; the moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: "O, yes, and went between us very
oft. Indeed?". Iago is forcing Othello to re–evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into
his mind. Later, the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to

Control The Direction Of Life
1. Discuss the protagonist's ability to control the direction of his life. What factors prevent him from
living the life he desires? What is out of his control...or controlling him?
I believe that Stevens does have the ability to control the direction of his life because for the past 34
years that Stevens has worked as a butler, though he was very content with his life working for Lord
Darlington and Mr. Farraday, it is quite obvious that after he goes on his motoring trip he realizing

In Stevens' case, there is a disconnect between objective and subjective reality. Objective reality is
the reality outside of your mind (the physical world) while subjective reality is the reality inside
your mind (the meaning you appoint to ideas, objects, dreams, and events). The author depicts
Stevens as a character who seems to go along with the objective reality of the world however since
his job failed to allow him to think for himself, he is unable to give his own meanings to the ideas
and events that the world presents to him. For example when Stevens was in the home of Mr Harry

the following after Mr Smith gives his viewpoint "I perceived, of course, that Mr Harry Smith and I
were rather at cross purposes on this matter, and that it would be far too complicated a task for me to
explain myself more clearly to these people. I thus judged it best simply to smile and say: 'Of
course, you're quite correct.'" (Ishiguro 186) I believe this quotation from the novel gives a better
picture of Stevens' inability to formulate his own

The Prayer Of Christ 's Return Essay
Then the pastor read the following passages.
Scripture Readings
The Comfort of Christ's Return
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you
sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God
will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming
of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in
Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort
one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18)
The Final Victory of the Christian
"So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, them shall
be brought to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.' O Death, where is
your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?' The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the
law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory throughout Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my
beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that
your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:54–58)

The Importance Of Corruption In The Bible
In the beautiful Garden of Eden, human life began. God said, In the likeness of God, Adam and Eve
were the first man and woman, entrusted to steward God's magnificent creations. They have full
authority and access to the Garden at all times except for one thing that God had forbidden – to not
eat from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil". However, things began to plummet when
they've committed the act of disobedience because of the enemy's deception.
In the beginning, God's original design for mankind is for multiplication. But, sin gave birth to
barrenness. God said to the serpent in Genesis 3:15,Can you see why the enemy inflicted
barrenness? God's blessing of procreation, even after the fall, wholly preserved undeniably. What
seems true in our situations is not at all the truth for the saving blood of Jesus has already provided
FULL REDEMPTION. Fullness in womb fruitfulness is available for everyone who believes in
Christ Jesus. His death shouted; IT IS FINISHED! (John 19:30)
Prominent women in the bible like Sarah, Rebekah, Hannah and others have battled with this
corruption and I believe you already know their unique stories of faith – where situations seemed
impossible for man, God has made it ALL POSSIBLE. We all have our own stories to testify of
God's faithfulness and my faith journey might be the same as yours.

The Letter Of A Pastor Essay
The congregation is invited to come and congratulate the new deacon as well as his wife while they
continue to sing to close the ceremony. IX. Installation of a Pastor
"He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because
He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' and he said to Him, 'Lord, you know all things;
You know that I love You.' Jesus said to him, 'Tend My sheep.'" (John 21:17) IX. INSTALLATION
OF A PASTOR
A pastor is a shepherd at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ not to be served but to serve the
flock.
"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for
many. (Matthew 20:28)
As a result, the pastor is serving a master who already has a work plan, a blueprint. He is not there
to invent another plan, but he is appointed in this position to discover the plan already mapped out
and follow it faithfully.
This ceremony is held during a regular worship service.
Place Allocation
Certain churches have a space reserved for the leaders. It is, generally, in the part which is between
the choir and the pulpit where they install chairs to allow them to face the congregation. But, given
that the new minister is not still officially installed, he could sit in the assembly or a chair could be
placed laterally in the space reserved for the leaders so as to establish a distinction between him and
the direction of the church.

Analysis Of The Poem ' Kuwl '
Kuwl, translated as a kind of sustenance, is exemplified throughout the Old Testament in which
various individuals or groups of people are sustained with food and drink, as well as clothing.
Beyond that, is another type of support: "He will restore your life and be the support of your old
age, for his mother is the daughter–in–law who loves you. She is worth more to you than seven
sons!" Naomi was left all alone without her husband and children until Boaz and Ruth gave birth to
a son named Obed. The opportunity for Naomi to become the nurturer of Obed allowed her to
restore her livelihood. So, not only does Kuwl include basic necessities, but also a meaningful life.
Related to a meaningful life is the capacity to endure. "One's spirit supports one when ill, but a
broken spirit who can bear?" A resilient spirit provides the sustaining power to continue through
life. Without it, ordinary life becomes difficult to tolerate.
Lastly described is kuwl as a designation for containment. "Is God indeed to dwell on earth? If the

God cannot be contained in space, time or even an individual's thoughts for He is not able to be
measured by human beings. Naturally, then, God is the ultimate sustainer, as He is able to provide as

My love did not possess any commitment but only served as a form of mutilation. Talk is cheap! If
you really love someone, you will dedicate and commit to the well–being of that relationship. It is
the same way in our relationship with God. "If ye love me, keep my commandments." If you love
him, you will obey him. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. The Son (Jesus)
so loved the world that he suffered and died for it. We can prove that we love him by what we do,
rather than what we say.
Many times, I told God I loved him while smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol, partying, having
premarital sex, and being disobedient. Fifteen years ago, God informed me while I was reading his
word, "If you love me, keep my commandments. Do what I have asked you to do!" The Holy Spirit
convicted my mind, and at that point I surrendered my heart to Christ. From that moment on, I
started depending upon God to assist me in loving him with more than just my words. He has taken
away the desire to live a life of sin and freed me from all my past shame.
If you are full of talk as I was, turn your life to God and let him be responsible for helping you find
the only true way to show him your love. He wants your soul saved and fully dedicated to him. You
are unable to love God by yourself; you will need his help, so ask him for it! I thought I loved my

Women During The Elizabethan Era Essay
According to Steven Lynn's Texts and Context: Writing About Literature with Critical Theory, Lynn
mentions that the purpose of the feminist criticism as analytical tool is to identify and challenge the
ways in which women are oppressed"(Lynn 221). Women during the Elizabethan Period (1555–
1603) were "subservient to men"( Elizabethan Era). Expected and raised with morals and values to
believe they were inferior to men, to obey their husbands, to forge alliances with other powerful
families through arranged marriages, Elizabethan women only learned certain skills at home. They
learn various languages, dancing, music, and sewing. However, the women portrayed in William
Shakespeare's King Lear defy the traditional gender role for the Elizabethan time. The women in
this play should not be underestimated. They are not your typical, sensitive, sheepish, loving women
that the time expected of them. Goneril and Regan reveal a hunger for power through their words
and violent actions, portraying women in a derogatory way while Cordelia the good daughter's
opposition to her sisters leads to her death. The chaos begins when King Lear of Britain elects to
retire his kingdom to his daughters by playing a silly love test. The daughter that professes the most
love for him will determine how he will distribute the land. The lust for power is evident in both

Bilbo's Quotes From The Hobbit
"This is the END. I am going. I am leaving NOW. GOODBYE!" (32)
This quotation occurs in the beginning of Book 1, in the middle of Chapter 1, at the end of Bilbo's

and friends during his and Frodo's birthday party. It is Bilbo's 111th birthday and Frodo's 33rd.
Together, their age is 144, hence the 144 guests for this speech. This speech, while expected at a
Birthday Party, is Bilbo's way of escaping for another, possibly last, adventure and a way for Bilbo
to play a joke on the residents of the Shire. This quote occurs immediately before the last time that

She went on to explain that Frodo's coming meant the end of the Golden Wood. If he failed, then
Sauron would have control over Lady Galadriel's ring and thus over the Golden Wood, but if he

everyone found out a full on war could break loose and the Prince has already warned the two house
if there was to be another fight in the street everyone would be punished. Also Juliet says that
Romeo was her true love or, what if she doesn't call if off with him or doesn't believe me. They are
brother and sister for goodness sake that is just wrong!

Phenomenally, Our Godly Sexual Beings presides as a conviction that the majority of the world
does not addressed or even considered. On the other hand, it remains fascinating how an infinite
quantity of people exists completely untroubled by sexual smut all around them, especially
concerning social media sources; while, conversely they erupt traumatized at the mere notion
concerning the LORD in their sexual lives. In fact, bringing this belief up to certain people
apparently can inflict apprehension and oftentimes hostile duress.
One such confrontation and what I regard as my first "bolt of lightning" this subject can produce,
took place during a discussion with my Aunt Lucy May numerous years ago. Being brought–up in
the "Bible Belt" of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How could one's sex organs, the powerhouse of life itself, not radiate with the presence of God
Divine's energy? It just doesn't make sense that the Divine Creator of all is absent from possibly the
most powerful, emotional and influential force people have. To me, at the very least, it's just not
logical."
Immediately, the death of silence engulfed our surroundings, and I suddenly comprehended I had
embarked into a deep terrain which existed totally isolated. Possibly, for the reason this topic went
contrary to Aunt Lucy May's common Christian upbringing that proudly teaches women that
principally their sex lives were personal and private; mainly meant for having babies. Or perhaps I
had entered into a real snake pit of sick, sexual secrets that she 'thought' endured intensely buried
within her psyche. At any rate, an array of reasons flashed through my brain, as I witnessed the
crude reality that the impression of my Auntie being thoroughly open–minded, in essence,
transpired as a mere illusion; for no doubt, she upheld being as tight–lipped and unyielding as my
grandfather's judgment had been toward her.
This long ago description of my aunt's persona may be somewhat excessive; still, undoubtedly this
disturbing subject mortified her in endless ways. Consequently, I determined this issue occurred as
indisputably taboo and better left unapproachable for a variety of

God By Rowlandson

  • 1. God By Rowlandson True to the letter, thanks to her knowledge of the Bible, Rowlandson uses this expression to qualify her conviction that God will never leave His people forsaken. More specifically, these declaration of God by Rowlandson are reflective of the common consensus among Christians that all that which happens in our lives has a reason, and that such happens at the Will of God, whether good or bad in nature. Indeed, in making this claim, Rowlandson is expressive of the fact that God has remained on her side as a source of blessings and protection through the challenging life she has been so far. As such, Bible in the narrative is portrayed as a psychological state in which faith as well as belief in its teachings is for Rowlandson and the many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an emphasis of the Bible as source for a psychological state in Rowlandson and other Puritans is clear in the numerous Biblical quotations Rowlandson makes in the narrative. Notable expressions of a psychological state in Rowlandson from her use of the Bible include on the one hand the way she found comfort of her heart–taking thoughts concerning the safety of her family members who had been scattered by the war. Despite being wounded and captive, Rowlandson states of how she found a way of expressing her heart–taking feelings to God by reading a verse in the Bible: "I opened my Bible to read, and the Lord brought that precious scripture to me, Jer. 31. 16. Thus saith the Lord; refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the Enemy" (Rowlandson 78). Whenever she is shattered by obstacles, she feels tranquility by reading the Bible. This is indicative that Bible in the narrative is used as source of encouragement to go on without worries since God; the Lord of Lords shall see His people through the land of the enemy and reunite them in safety and peace. This sense of the Bible as a psychological state is also clear in the perception that Rowlandson had towards the rafts that the captors, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. What Is Child Dedication? Essay II. CHILD DEDICATION What is Child Dedication? It is the ceremonial act of publicly consecrating a child's life to God, undertaken by parents, during a worship service in the temple. Through this symbolic rite, parents, on one hand, promise to raise the child in the fear of the Lord, and the congregation, on the other hand, commits to help the parents achieve such a goal by keeping an eye on the child in the community and by encouraging them to bring the child to Sunday schools, worship services, and other church activities in relation with his Christian training. Why Do Major Protestant Churches Practice Child Dedication? Infant baptism as some churches practice it today dates back to the second century of the Christian era. However, the Bible does not account any infant baptism. When biblical passages such as Acts 16:15, 33 and Acts 18:8 mention the baptism of a whole household, we can assume that there might have been some infants or children among them. And yet, it still remains an assumption. As a result, many protestant churches do not practice infant baptism, they instead practice the ceremony of baby or child dedication. This idea of child dedication is found in the first chapter of the first book of Samuel where Hannah, after giving birth to Samuel, took him to the temple to give him back to the Lord. Dedicating a child to the Lord is publicly acknowledging that the child is a gift from Him and at the same he is a gift you don't want to solely raise as parents. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes people don't see the magnitude of the emotions on that person's life until something similar comes your way. It was August 13th, 2011, when my daughter Katelynn was born; 1 lb 13 oz. A premature baby, which doctors didn't give me much hope that she would make it. I remember the agony I was feeling, knowing that the most precious and most awaited gift was slipping away. My Heart was breaking apart into millions of piece with nothing for me to do but wait. They suffered and yet they were not defeated. They were beaten down, but not broken. They were so full of faith and honor that you wished you had the same faith and honor in your life today. These people endured much and yet prospered– these people were the Waldenses. The Waldenses name brings a picture to your mind, usually this picture is of families all coming together and hiding in the Alps, praising God and worshiping Him. This image is only partly true, however, there is so much more about the Waldensians than just hiding in the Alps and worshiping God. They were people who loved God and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We as Seventh–day Adventists firmly believe that the true day of worship is the seventh day of the week and we will not comply with the world. This will lead to us being persecuted just as the Waldenses were back in the 12th century. And as they found refuge in the lofty bulwarks of the mountains, so we will find refuge high in the mountains. In the Bible it says, "I look up to the mountain does my help come from there my help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! (Psalms 121:1–2) The Waldenses searched the Bible and lived according to the Bible and their knowledge of it. In the last days people are going to be deceived and lead astray because of one thing– they didn't read their Bible. The people back in the Reformation time period died for the Holy word of God, and today we let it collect dust on our bookshelves. Perhaps it's time we go back to reading the Bible and growing our relationship with Jesus. When this happens then the Word will go to the ends of the world and Jesus will ... The Theme of "A True History of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson" by Mrs. Mary Rowlandson In the times of colonies when land was untouched there was a distinct hatred between the native Indians and the new colonists. As one reads the essay: A True History of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, written by Mary Rowlandson in 1682, one will understand this hatred. Although the Indians captured Mary Rowlandson, with the faith of God she was safely returned. The reader learns of her religious messages and how she turns to God for safety and strong will. One sees how her Puritan beliefs are of the strong New England Puritans way of life. The reader also understands through her words how she views the Indians and their way of ... That single spark was the belief in God and his miracles. In all her times of despair and hardship she turned to prayer and deliverance from God. It is not my tongue or pen can express the sorrows of my heart and bitterness of my spirit that I had at this departure: but God was with me in a wonderful manner, carrying me along, and bearing up my Spirit, that it did not quite fail (Rowlandson p. 30). With the death of her child and the ever growing pain in her arm she managed to migrate with the Indians and relying on God for strength. But the Lord renewed my strength still, and carried me along, that I might see more of his power, yea, so much that I could never have thought of had I not experienced it (Rowlandson p. 30). On the third remove she is given a key, a book that is the answer to all her troubles. I cannot but take notice of the wonderful mercy of God to me in those afflictions, in sending me a Bible (Rowlandson p. 34). A Indian had received a Bible and gave it to her. This present to Rowlandson was a light; a light that if used and worshiped could save her soul. As the Indians moved she moved too, no matter where they went it always lead to hell for her. • 6. Analysis Of Footprints Footprints, a poem by Mary Stevenson, words in this poem I have hidden away in my heart to carry with me through thick and thin in my life. The poem is describing a person's journey through life as a walk on the beach. Throughout the walk of life, the author would look back and find two sets of footprints. One of these sets is hers; the other set is God's. Looking back on the hard times, however; she finds only one set of footprints. When she asks God why he left in her times of need, He replies, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." Those words always send chills up my spine. The good kind of chills. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And unfortunately, more often than not, we tend to habitually be like the author of this poem and question the Lord. "I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me." We have an inclination to jump to the worst conclusion. That our loving Creator, left us there to suffer. Even though we may assume this. It is never true. We are the ones that leave. We stray from Him. We leave Him in the sand and try and make it through on our own. If we would only let Him in. He would gladly sustain us through those rough times. Our God is so gracious, that even when we wander away, He helps us find our way back. He offers again and again to help us through. This poem continues to serve as a reminder to me. A reminder that my God will never leave me. Isaiah 43:2 clearly states, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Mathley|4 (NIV) He is always there for me. He is the one I can always depend on. The picture I took was an easier and closer reminder. I often look back onto this picture. I find it brings hope, joy, relief, promise, and restores my faith. • 7. Similarities Between The Merchant Of Venice And Othello Ill luck? In comparing the so called "villains" of Shakespeare's two plays, The Merchant of Venice and Othello, we see similarities and differences between the two villains. The first similarity being that both villains seek revenge. Shylock seeks revenge on Antonio, he wants "an equal pound of his flesh" (1.3.146). Iago as well seeks the destruction and death of his adversary, Othello. Other similarities we see is that they are both ruthless, merciless and even barbaric at times. Shylock will not stop until Antonio is dead, likewise Iago will also not stop until Othello is dead. However, when comparing their characteristics, one will see they are very different people. Shylock is more anthropomorphic, we also often we find him in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (4.1.345–355) A very interesting "characteristic" of Iago is his reputation for being a very honest man. This status given to him is entirely the opposite of his real nature. I would like to look at this aspect of his character for a moment as well as why he is so trusted. The latter comes from the former because if one has a reputation for honesty he will be trusted. Iago has a great reputation for honesty, how is this possible for a man we know so well to be a liar? In order for one to have a reputation for honesty one must have first been honest for a considerable amount of time. How can one be known for honesty while being a liar his whole life? It is not possible. One must first be honest in order to acquire that prestige. This causes me to believe that Iago was once an honest man. It is not known when he commenced his evil ways, but it is plausible that once he did not receive the position that he thought rightfully his, he changed his way of life right there and then. We cannot tell what it was but we can recognize that at some point in his life he was very honest. Another of Iago's interesting characteristics is the way he abuses his reputation. He uses the fact that everyone trusts him to his advantage. IAGO. and did you see the handkerchief? OTHELLO. Was that mine? IAGO. Yours, by this hand! Mary Rowlandson Captivity Summary Mary Rowlandson was a Puritan colonist of the town of Lancaster, who was captured by Indians that attacked her village and sized a number of colonists as captives. Rowlandson, like many Puritans of her time, held strong religious beliefs about God and about the way he expresses his will (love and lessons) through one's struggles in life. This Puritan ideology of hers was never more apparent than in her text called, "A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson". • 10. Noble Qualities Of Beowulf What defines a hero? A hero is someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. The values of an Anglo–Saxon are bravery, truth, honor, loyalty, duty, hospitality, and perseverance. Such traits define an epic hero, who with noble motivations preservers through the toughest obstacles. Beowulf is this hero, he is a true hero with true noble motivations and good intention. Beowulf is a fair fighter and helps the people of Herot by slaying Grendel without his weapons. "He needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I my lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to...my hands alone shall fight for me."(168–173). This means he will fight without his weapon, and only with his hands, to show his bravery and valor. As a noble hero he is, Beowulf decides to not use his weapons nor his armor and only use his fists to battle Grendel. Beowulf is a hero, who against all odds fights in the face of death, and who fights for his people in honor. Beowulf is a fierce warrior who fights for good and helps his people, even if it means to sacrifice himself for the greater good."His grace has given me allowed me to bring to my people while breath still moves to my lips...Take what I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people, help them; my time is gone." (805–812). "Fought with fate against him, with glory denied him, he knew it, but he raised his sword struck at the dragon's scaly hide."(668–670). As Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to lead his people with the jewels he won from his battle with the dragon. He discovers fear, yet battles it even if fate is against him. Beowulf fights until death beats him, he never gave up to any battle that came upon him. Though at times of his journeys, Beowulf receives praise and glory from all the victories which came upon him. It is true, at times of Beowulf's journey he becomes greedy and has a thirst for fame and glory."...Bring me ancient silver, precious jewels, shining armor and gems, before I die. Death will be softer, leaving life and this people I've rules so long, if I look at this last of all prizes."(762–765). This shows that at his time of death he finds himself pleased being around his prizes and precious jewels. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Thematic Analysis Of Psalm 22 Psalm 22 is a Davidic psalm found in the Old Testament of the Bible and it contains a reoccurring theme of suffering and deliverance both in the Old and New Testaments. This messianic psalm prophesizes the suffering of Jesus on the cross, his resurrection, and the forgiveness of sin for those who take up their cross and follow him. The psalm can be separated into two distinct sections. The first section describes Christ's excruciating suffering and torment on the cross. The second section is a victorious depiction of the outcome of Christ's suffering. Both sections convey the passion of Jesus and the extent of his faith. The first verse of the Psalm "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" are the very words Jesus cried out on the cross during Calvary some 200 years after the psalm was written. This presents the question of how can God forsake God, since Jesus is the second Godhead of the trinity? Because Jesus was God and man perfectly united in a single person it would be there on the cross that Jesus's manhood is most prevalently displayed. Jesus knew that God would answer him and he would not be forsaken forever, but the torture he suffered was so strong that he could not feel what he knew. • 17. The Church Of The Roman Empire The early church was hated by the society and government of the Roman Empire for various reasons, such as the refusal of Christians to sacrifice to the gods. The Empire went through many phases of demanding that the Christians sacrifice which meant denying their faith or be killed. The earliest attacks claimed the lives of many of the apostles. This text is the story, from around 160 AD, of the martyrdom of Polycarp, the Bishop of the church in Smyrna, a city in Asia Minor (modern Izmir in Turkey) devoted to Roman worship. The account is in the form of a letter from eye– witnesses to other churches in the area. It is the earliest chronicle of a martyrdom outside the New Testament.Polycarp was an old man, at least 86, and probably the last surviving person to have known an apostle, having been a disciple of St. John. This was one reason he was greatly revered as a teacher and church leader. One interesting feature of the letter is that the writer is very conscious of how Polycarp's death followed the pattern of Christ's. As you read it, look for parallels between this story and the Easter story in the gospels. We are writing to you, brothers, with an account of the martyrs, especially the blessed Polycarp, whose death brought to the persecution to a close. • 19. Reoccurring Themes Of Evil In The Fellowship Of The Ring The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines evil as "morally reprehensible" and "causes harm". Some will debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time. Throughout J.R.R. Tolkien's first part of The Lord of the Rings, "The Fellowship of the Ring", there are reoccurring themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary depending on who possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are demonstrated, "The Fellowship of the Ring" suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over time. Evil is prominent throughout "The Fellowship of the Ring". Shortly after Boromir suggests that they use the Ring against Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, "is altogether evil" (267). The Ring was crafted with the sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring which says, "One ring to bring them all and in the darkness to bind them" (50). This script shows that the ring was created to draw other to "darkness", which is often used to symbolize evil. While the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil thing in Middle–Earth: "For noting was evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so." (267). Throughout "The Fellowship of the Ring", there is a close correlation between the one ring and evil, as Elrond says, "The very desire of it corrupts the heart" (267). • 20. How Is Longfellow Similar To A Psalm Of Life The infamous poem "A Psalm of Life," written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and chapter 39 of the book of Psalm in the Bible share many similarities as they both give advice on how to live one's life. However, there are several differences in the two. In "A Psalm of Life," the author wants to send out the message of not to live life in pursuit of death, but rather embrace every moment of it in pursuit of happiness. Although heaven maybe the ultimate goal in the end, we should all work to live life to the fullest . Life does not end with death, the soul lives on after earth, "Dust thou art, to dust returnest/Was not spoken of the soul." Longfellow is saying that time on Earth is only temporary and life goes on beyond earth. Similar to that stanza, in Psalm 39:12,13, the Bible indicates that we are all "...sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers. Look away from me, that i may smile again, before i depart and am no more." Humankind are only guests on earth, and heaven where the almighty Father lives is where we must strive to be after we depart from the earthly place. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Why Is A Funeral? Why a Funeral? Man, indeed, has always showed respect for the remains of a human being. It is as if there was a tacit agreement between us to pay a particular tribute to a dead person. Funeral constitutes a special opportunity, for the friends and close relatives of the deceased, to show their support to the bereaved family at a moment when they badly need it. It aims mainly at helping the living to adjust after the loss of a loved one. What are the Main Reasons Why we Hold a Funeral? 1. To Glorify God 's Name. The authority of God on life as well as death is undeniable. Just as life is a part of God 's plan, death also is a part of it. "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21b) 2. To Honor Man The separation of the soul of the deceased from his body does not suggest that we can dispose his remains lightly. What human being would have wished that his corpse be treated as a thing? Man is, by nature, a spiritual being. Accordingly, his life as well as its death is precious. Furthermore, the body of a believer is God 's temple up to his last breath. "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19–20) 3. • 27. Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare's Othello Humans do not recognize the devastating destruction that words are capable of having when in the right hands. The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the conceivable power that dwells within words through the character Iago. The character, Iago, has a complete understanding of his victims' nature down to their essence. In addition, because he does not have any core beliefs or morals, Iago gains the ability to ultimately change his faith and principals. In short, the biggest factor that contributes to Iago's successful manipulation is his ability to carefully select words in the language. Iago understands his companions to the very core by having complete knowledge of their behavior and beliefs. He is able to fully grasp what his victim is thinking in situations and takes full advantage of it to profit him. Othello is an exquisite example of Iago's expertise in the English language and shows how fatal it can become. In the following lines Othello and Iago are conversating about the plausible relationships between Cassio and Desdemona: Othello: O, yes, and went between us very oft. (act III. sc iii. Ll 100–105) This short interaction between Iago and Othello is the beginning of Iago implanting the poison of doubt into Othello's mind. Othello never suspects the loyalty of Desdemona however, Iago destroys the foundation of this trust by continuously influencing Othello to think about it. He is an expert when it comes to the complexity of the human mind and it allows him complete insight into Othello's psyche. In the quotation, Iago is seen constantly questioning Othello. Othello desires an answer but instead encounters another question. Notice that Iago questions Cassio's devotion to Othello; the moment Othello brings him up in their conversation: "O, yes, and went between us very oft. Indeed?". Iago is forcing Othello to re–evaluate Cassio, thus implanting the seed of doubt into his mind. Later, the seed is seen sprouting roots because Othello then questions Cassio as to ... But, sin gave birth to barrenness. God said to the serpent in Genesis 3:15,Can you see why the enemy inflicted barrenness? God's blessing of procreation, even after the fall, wholly preserved undeniably. Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' and he said to Him, 'Lord, you know all things; You know that I love You.' Jesus said to him, 'Tend My sheep.'" (John 21:17) IX. INSTALLATION OF A PASTOR A pastor is a shepherd at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ not to be served but to serve the flock. "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28) As a result, the pastor is serving a master who already has a work plan, a blueprint. He is not there to invent another plan, but he is appointed in this position to discover the plan already mapped out and follow it faithfully. This ceremony is held during a regular worship service. Place Allocation Certain churches have a space reserved for the leaders. It is, generally, in the part which is between the choir and the pulpit where they install chairs to allow them to face the congregation. But, given that the new minister is not still officially installed, he could sit in the assembly or a chair could be placed laterally in the space reserved for the leaders so as to establish a distinction between him and the direction of the church. Analysis Of The Poem ' Kuwl ' Kuwl, translated as a kind of sustenance, is exemplified throughout the Old Testament in which various individuals or groups of people are sustained with food and drink, as well as clothing. Beyond that, is another type of support: "He will restore your life and be the support of your old age, for his mother is the daughter–in–law who loves you. She is worth more to you than seven sons!" Naomi was left all alone without her husband and children until Boaz and Ruth gave birth to a son named Obed. Related to a meaningful life is the capacity to endure. "One's spirit supports one when ill, but a broken spirit who can bear?" A resilient spirit provides the sustaining power to continue through life. Without it, ordinary life becomes difficult to tolerate. Lastly described is kuwl as a designation for containment. "Is God indeed to dwell on earth? If the heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain you, how much less this house which I have built!" Talk is cheap! If you really love someone, you will dedicate and commit to the well–being of that relationship. It is the same way in our relationship with God. "If ye love me, keep my commandments." If you love him, you will obey him. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. The Son (Jesus) so loved the world that he suffered and died for it. We can prove that we love him by what we do, rather than what we say. Many times, I told God I loved him while smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol, partying, having premarital sex, and being disobedient. Fifteen years ago, God informed me while I was reading his word, "If you love me, keep my commandments. Do what I have asked you to do!" The Holy Spirit convicted my mind, and at that point I surrendered my heart to Christ. From that moment on, I started depending upon God to assist me in loving him with more than just my words. He has taken away the desire to live a life of sin and freed me from all my past shame. If you are full of talk as I was, turn your life to God and let him be responsible for helping you find the only true way to show him your love. He wants your soul saved and fully dedicated to him. You are unable to love God by yourself; you will need his help, so ask him for it! I thought I loved my girlfriend, but the truth came out when other opportunities presented ... • 35. Women During The Elizabethan Era Essay According to Steven Lynn's Texts and Context: Writing About Literature with Critical Theory, Lynn mentions that the purpose of the feminist criticism as analytical tool is to identify and challenge the ways in which women are oppressed"(Lynn 221). Women during the Elizabethan Period (1555– 1603) were "subservient to men"( Elizabethan Era). Expected and raised with morals and values to believe they were inferior to men, to obey their husbands, to forge alliances with other powerful families through arranged marriages, Elizabethan women only learned certain skills at home. They learn various languages, dancing, music, and sewing. However, the women portrayed in William Shakespeare's King Lear defy the traditional gender role for the Elizabethan time. The women in this play should not be underestimated. They are not your typical, sensitive, sheepish, loving women that the time expected of them. Goneril and Regan reveal a hunger for power through their words and violent actions, portraying women in a derogatory way while Cordelia the good daughter's opposition to her sisters leads to her death. The chaos begins when King Lear of Britain elects to retire his kingdom to his daughters by playing a silly love test. The daughter that professes the most love for him will determine how he will distribute the land. The lust for power is evident in both Regan and Goneril when they profess their love with loaded language and not out of sincerity but out of greed for power (Rubio ... Grant us the grace to learn to trust you more in the midst of this terrible ordeal. You who know our needs before we asked for it, give us from now, on your grace, so that we moved back in front of the mystery of death, to see the light of eternity. • 38. Bilbo's Quotes From The Hobbit "This is the END. I am going. I am leaving NOW. GOODBYE!" (32) This quotation occurs in the beginning of Book 1, in the middle of Chapter 1, at the end of Bilbo's "inevitable after dinner speech." Bilbo is giving a speech to his 144, or "One Gross," closest family and friends during his and Frodo's birthday party. It is Bilbo's 111th birthday and Frodo's 33rd. Together, their age is 144, hence the 144 guests for this speech. This speech, while expected at a Birthday Party, is Bilbo's way of escaping for another, possibly last, adventure and a way for Bilbo to play a joke on the residents of the Shire. This quote occurs immediately before the last time that Bilbo will use the One Ring, although he does not know yet of the ring's evil nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After seeing this in the basin, he noticed a ring on Lady Galadriel's hand and knew that her ring was one of the rings given to the elves. Realizing what he had seen and what he noticed, she explained that her ring kept them safe. It also kept the Golden Wood golden and preserved the ancient feeling in the wood. She went on to explain that Frodo's coming meant the end of the Golden Wood. If he failed, then Sauron would have control over Lady Galadriel's ring and thus over the Golden Wood, but if he succeeded, then there was no grantee that her ring would work without the power of the One Ring. Either way, her kingdom was lost. Even with this guarantee, she and her people helped Frodo and the Fellowship on their journey. Juliet can't find out like this. Her mother made me promise to never tell her about the secret that started the feud between the two houses. Juliet can never know that her own mother had an affair with Lord Montague and that she is his daughter. What am I going to do? This can't happen, not a romance between the two houses and not a romance between brother and sister. Only the Lady herself, Lord Montague, and Lord Capulet know about this terrible secret and it is part of the reason for the ancient grudge, which has been building over time. On the other hand, it remains fascinating how an infinite quantity of people exists completely untroubled by sexual smut all around them, especially concerning social media sources; while, conversely they erupt traumatized at the mere notion concerning the LORD in their sexual lives. In fact, bringing this belief up to certain people apparently can inflict apprehension and oftentimes hostile duress. Immediately, the death of silence engulfed our surroundings, and I suddenly comprehended I had embarked into a deep terrain which existed totally isolated. Possibly, for the reason this topic went contrary to Aunt Lucy May's common Christian upbringing that proudly teaches women that principally their sex lives were personal and private; mainly meant for having babies. Or perhaps I had entered into a real snake pit of sick, sexual secrets that she 'thought' endured intensely buried within her psyche. At any rate, an array of reasons flashed through my brain, as I witnessed the crude reality that the impression of my Auntie being thoroughly open–minded, in essence, transpired as a mere illusion; for no doubt, she upheld being as tight–lipped and unyielding as my grandfather's judgment had been toward her.
