What is an Organization Object?
• Organization Object is a new object type which will be introduced to APNIC
Whois database
• Organization Object will contain organizational information
• All your resources can be linked to your organization object

• org-name: [mandatory] The name of the organization
• descr: [optional] A short description of the organization
• country: [mandatory] The country where the organization is registered
• address: [mandatory] The postal address of the organization

Who can create Organization Object?
• Only APNIC can create Organization Objects
• Members can update their contact information in their Organization Objects
• Creation of Organization Objects for NIR members will be discussed with NIRs

Can organization name be changed?
Only APNIC can change the organization name for existing Organization Objects
for the following reasons:
1) The Member has gone through a name change
2) The Member has a trading name which is different to their legal entity name and
they prefer to use their trading name for Whois data

Where to use Organization Object?
• APNIC direct delegations will have Organization Objects. APNIC will insert your
Organization Objects into your direct delegation objects. You don’t need to worry
about it.
• Customer assignments will not have Organization Objects. Members don’t have
permission to insert Organization Objects to any resource objects.

What is the plan?
• End of April 2017: APNIC Whois database technical upgrade will take place,
after that it will support the Organization Object
• End of June 2017: Organization Objects will be generated for you based on the
information you have provided to APNIC

Communications
• A blog and an announcement will inform the community about the Whois
Upgrade before it takes place in April 2017
• Email to Members to ask them to check their Organization Objects information
before create the object for them
• Email to Members notifying them their Organization Objects has been created
• Email to Members to notify them their Organization Object has been used in
their resource objects

What do I need to do?
• Check your organization name, address and other contact information in
MyAPNIC
• Review your Organization Object details if you received an email from APNIC
ask you to confirm
• Contact APNIC Helpdesk if you have any concerns
