Pet Peeve Essay On Miscommunication
By now I think I've made it quite apparent that one of my biggest pet peeves is miscommunication. I
pride myself on being a first–rate communicator. I may not be perfect at it, but I try really, really,
REALLY hard to choose my words carefully – both in speaking and in writing. So, when something
I've said or written gets misconstrued, it makes me CRAZY! To make matters worse, sometimes the
more I try to explain myself, the more confusing the situation seems to become because people, in
general, do not always know how to LISTEN. I include myself in that category. Being a good
listener is definitely a skill one must continually practice. When these situations happen, it makes
me want to run off to some secluded place, never again having

What Is The Biggest Pet Peeve Essay
One of my biggest pet peeves is that I have a big fear of very high heights. Heights is one of the
only fears I have, I would love to, to go skydiving one day but my fear of heights would hold me
back. One time at this park that I used to hang at, Par Kour was a fun hobby everyone used to do
back in the 6th grade, everyone used to climb up small buildings, playground ceilings, restroom
roofs and park pavilions. Me, myself was never goodlike my friends were back then, the things that
they used to flip over and climbs things I could never imagine doing. So, one day I decided to do it
with them, we were running around, hopping over things, flipping around until we made it to the
park restroom on the other side of park. They managed to get up onto

Most people in the world talk about others no matter the case. People talk about each other in the
case of religion, race, gender, etc. The biggest pet peeve is people who are judgmental.I will never
forget the time that I heard the most disrespectful and judgmental thing in that school when I was in
the fifth grade. In this memory I had a friend that had his family moving to the states from Iraq
because of his father. I remember the first day I saw this kid. It was in September on a warm and
windy Tuesday. This particular Tuesday was not like any other Tuesday because of the new student
and the way the room felt when he walked in. I usually sat in the back left of the classroom because
I was not that type of child that would sit in the front

My Pet Peeve Essay
"Practice What You Preach" This essay is similar to snowboarding down Andrews for the first time.
At Sundown, Andrews is labeled as "very difficult." As I snowboarded down the slope, I began to
gain speed and I realized I was unable to slow down. After using a heel turn to lower my speed, I
carved down the hill through obstacles. This run was challenging and time–consuming because of
the obstacles. When I finally reached the bottom of the hill, I relaxed, and I approached the ski lift to
begin my journey back up. This essay is similar to my snowboarding experience in numerous ways.
I had trouble finding content to add to my paper, and this essay required a large amount of work and
revisions. Peer response with my classmates

Top 10 Assume Pet Peeves
Reviewing the samples resumes was tedious, because while there was differences between the
resumes, majority of the resumes read the same. I can conclude that I do not want to be a job
recruiter because after the fifth resume, I was about done. Though there weren't spelling errors that I
noticed, there was a lot of grammar errors. According to the Recruiters' Top 10 Resume Pet Peeves,
by Norma Gaffin, pet peeve number 1 was spelling errors, typos and poor grammar. Reading the
resumes made sure that I go back and double check mine, because a person's resume is basically an
advertisement of a person's qualities. Many job recruiters receive numerous resumes every day, and
in order for someone to compete, the persons resume needs to stand out. Basically, job seekers send
in a resume that highlights the products or skills that they are trying to sell to the recruiter. If the
product is the same as everyone else, job recruiters would not want to buy in your product. ... Show

In addition, some of the resumes were not simple, clear and straight to the point. According to Top

pet peeve. Instead of formatting his resume in a concise, clear, order with bullet points, he wrote
long paragraphs about his positions, qualities and education. Another example, is John Doe from
49th ave, who used different font sizes throughout his resume. Formatting like these can turn off a
recruiter from continuing reading a someone's resume. Some resumes that stood out to me, were
concise, lack spelling or grammar errors, and were straight to the point. There wasn't irrelevant
information such as hobbies include cooking, reading, etc. According to the text, a good resume
should be focused towards the job description, and should have keywords that highlights the skills

Biggest Pet Peeves
I am almost positive that everyone at some point in their life has been looked at wrongly for
something that they didn't do or wasn't their fault. For me, that would be for bumping into a walker
in the hallways at school. This situation however was not my fault it was the other person's fault for
not paying attention. One of my biggest pet peeves is the people that walk the hallways at Belleville
West High School. One reason why it is one of my biggest pet peeves is because of the rudeness
apparently associated with the walking of the halls. People think it is completely sociably acceptable
to get in someone's face if they bump into them because they were texting or off in the "la la" land
of stupidity. I honestly believe these people need

Pet Peeves: A Short Story
As I look out into the class, my stomach immediately drops. Every single one of them was staring at
me. Like drones with heavy eyes, waiting for this to be over. Quickly, my eyes dart back down to
the note card I am holding in my shaking hand. The few notes I had written were sloppy and I can
barely read them. I hadn't had much time to prepare which only added to my already high stress
level when it comes to public speaking. I opened my mouth to begin my speech, but I struggled to
find my voice. Closing my mouth, embarrassed, I quietly attempted to clear my voice and start
again. Although this time sound did escape my mouth, it was a jumbled mess. I hadn't even made it
through two sentences and I had already used "like", "um" and "and" about 20 times each.
The rest of my speech went equally as horribly and to say I was relieved when it was over would be
a major understatement. Shamefully, walking back to my seat I started to beat myself up about
everything that I had done wrong. From the moment the bell rang for class to start and Mrs.
Pearlman had told us today was the day for impromptu speeches I had been nervous. We were only
given 10 minutes to prepare for a five minute speech on our biggest pet peeves. I had known that we
would have to do this eventually, but of course I convinced myself to think that the day ... Show

I suspect the combination of adrenaline and determination gave me the confidence necessary to
deliver the speech I pictured in my mind. For once, when I stepped down from the podium, a smile
came to my lips. Happily, I looked at Mrs. Pearlman and she gave me a small nod telling me that I
had finally done it. Everything had clicked into place and I had finally got a handle on public
speaking. To be fair, my speech was nowhere near perfect and there was still plenty of room for
improvement but I had just taken one giant leap toward my goal of mastery in this

O–Opinion
Obviously teens face many problems. One of the problems that stand out to me the most would be
the problem of laziness, or not doing homework. My opinion on this is that it is something that teens
should learn how to fix. In general, teens do not see the consequences of not doing homework or
paying attention in class. I believe that teens should be taught about what could happen if they do
not learn the information provided in class, because how are they supposed to know if all they are
thinking about is the present. Another option would be learning how to ask for help. If a teen was
overwhelmed with homework or was having trouble focusing, there is always someone you can go
to to ask for help.
P–Pet Peeve (Things that other people do that really bother you)
The most prominent pet peeve that I had this year was people chewing with their mouths open. I
dislike when people do this because the sound annoys and grosses me out. I know a lot of people
that do, and that might be telling that I should stop paying such close attention to how people are
eating. So, instead of letting this bother me, I'm going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the future I have thing I want to accomplish, goals I wish to achieve and difficult decisions I will
have to make. One difficult decision I will have to make in my high school years will be to put
school first. I will have to put aside activities that take up too much time and will have to be
responsible about when I hang out with friends. This will be a hard decision because I like to
procrastinate a lot. To make sure I do my school work I will work outside of my room and will put
away electronic devices until I'm finished. I will also not involve myself in too many activities.
Also, a goal that I strive to achieve by the end of high school would be to be happy, healthy and to
have a 4.0+ gpa at least three times during high school. Overall, I wish the best for my

My sister hates it when people don't use turn signals. My mom hates when people interrupt her
while she is telling a story. And don't even get my dad started on people who don't turn right on red.
For other people it could be loud talkers, or people who cut into your conversation, or even tapping;
but it seems like everyone has some sort of a major pet peeve. So let me go ahead and just tell you
about mine. Walking swiftly through the long hallways, I listen to the murmurs of other people. As I
continue to walk all I can hear are the loud squishy noises and people rubbing up against each other.
I try to tune them out and focus only on what is ahead, but it seems like they are everywhere. It
becomes like two worms fighting for dominance and neither one ever seems to give up. Their long
squishy bodies press hard against each other to try and get a jab every now and then. Once one
worm gets hold of another a loud sloshing noise is released as the other worm tries to fight back.
The worms, fighting hard to prove they are superior, never back down. This is just the same as two
people's bodies forcefully pressed against each other as they fight with their tongues. As soon as
their tongues touch the saliva is swished back and forth between the two mouths. The two people,
trying to prove they wear the pants in the relationship, never back down. ... Show more content on

Why Did I Choose My Pet Peeve?
I choose "my pet peeve" because I thought it was the best choice for my express how I am and what
my personality is like. I Also thought it would be the best opinion to show to the class what kind of
things grind my gears. I didn't choose the "The Bag "because I didn't really have any sort of ideas or
couldn't think of anything to bring to class. I didn't choose "what I do well, and what I do not so
well "because there's not one specific thing that I'm good at and something I'm really bad at. I think
I did well when it came explaining my kind of pet peeve and why it irritates me. I also thought I did

I'm easily annoyed by unpunctuality. It is as "a pet peeve" for me. It really makes my anger when I
am not prepared to wait, for things happening. One clear example of it was when I went to Disney

This paper describes Carly's service learning project in which she spent twenty hours volunteering
at the Alachua County Humane Society (ACHS). She worked with dogs and cats, caring for them
until they were adopted into forever homes. She also formed relationships with fellow volunteers,
specifically one from the same Family, Youth, and Community Sciences (FYCS) program at the
University of Florida. In this paper, Carly's feelings about the service learning in which she
participated will be discussed, as well as how her actions in helping animals find homes benefitted
the community. The benefits of her actions are backed up with research done by Dr. James E. Gern
and an article published in Parents Magazine. Relationships between what she's learned in her
Principles of Family, Youth, and Community Sciences class will be examined, along with her
feelings about her experience at the ACHS.

at the Alachua County Humane Society. She chose this setting because animals are an important part
of people's lives, and every animal needs to be loved. While the dogs and cats in this no–kill shelter
are treated well, the more volunteers, the more human contact each dog and cat can receive. She
spent most of her time interacting with different dogs in the outdoor play areas. The other portion of

What Is Your Pet Peeve Analysis
"What is your pet peeve?" The answer to this question is seemingly simple. For some, it may be the
deafening sound of nails on a chalkboard. For others, it could be the one stray mark left unerased on
the otherwise impeccable white board. For me, however, this question was left largely unanswered
for a long while. "What do I hate?" I would sit for what seemed to be hours contemplating my
answer. At last, I would come to some relative conclusion, telling myself with hopeful surety that I
had at least found a topic worthy of a concise, one page discourse. The heading and title would pass
with great ease, bestowing on me a false sense of confidence for the rest of the essay. I fought my

Diagnostic Task
A pet peeve of mine that pushes my limits is when a person is mad or extremely moody for their
own personal reason and then decide to take out their irritation on somebody else. This behavior
rises my own temper when somebody else's temper gets the best of them. Not only do I see it as
being rude but when it doesn't involve the other person being at fault, it infuriates me. Every person
experiences bad days where your attitude is very negative but it gives you no reason to be harm
someone else's feelings or mood. Still, a normal action like experiencing a bad feeling and making a
remark just shakes my nerves.
This specific pet peeve mostly came from my family members at home. My mom in particular

Animal Assisted Therapy
Abstract
From Florence Nightingale's statements that patients should take care of animals through Dr.
Levinson articles regarding his experiences that spurned research to this day into Animal–Assisted

changes in the persons physical condition and psychosocial refers to changes in a person's mental or

Should Dogs Be A Best Friend?
There is a lot to consider when choosing a best friend, and a lot of responsibility that comes with
being one. There needs to be that willingness to listen, to forgive, to show no judgement and to love
for the sake of loving. There's also the decision of a two or four legged companion. Dogs have been
known as Man's Best Friend for an uncountable amount of years, with many reasons that are not
surprising. The bond has been collaborating and evolving for thousands of years, with benefits to
both sides of the relationship. I have used many websites and physical sources to help me find out
and explain how and why dogs have become so beneficial to the mental and emotional stability of
their human counterparts. It has always been said that humans in the caveman era domesticated
wolves, but in reality, it could of been a partner effort. Humans in many different countries and
cultures, had been and still are hunting the last known wolves straight into extinction, but back 15 to
32 years ago is when we began to domesticate each other. (Lee, J. Jane) When you are forced to live
in the same environment as another human or creature, usually you both learn to adapt to the ways
of one another. In today's education and learning, we often think and are thought that evolution is
the survival of the fittest. (Hare, Brian and Woods, Vanessa.) Where the strongest dominants survive
and the weak runts perish. But actually, in order for dogs to survive as a species, it must not be the

Essay On Pet Peeves
Everyone has a pet peeve no matter how weird it can possibly be. Someone could have a pet peeve

Earth doesn't revolve around those people, so they too need to get over their ridiculous peeves and

to them and be aware that I dislike what bothers me. As in, I can't stand it when people correct me,

My Pet Peeve Is People With Too Many Pet Peeves Introduction Some people seem to enjoy
complaining. The saying "misery loves company" explains a lot. When someone starts to complain,
often others like to join in with their stories of woe. I dought we ever, in the entire history of
mankind have as many complainers as we do today, in the 21st century. No one becomes
newsworthy for looking on the bright side of things. We feel it our daily mission to voice our pet
peeves in a tweet or a facebook post. A pet peeve is something someone can never resist
complaining about. As you may know from the title, my pet peeve is people that have to many pet

Grumbling about your family may rub off on others in the family, hurt each other unnecessarily or
promote self pitty; complaining at work brings down the overall mood and does not promote
teamwork. Voicing every pet peeve to your friends can make them feel uneasy around you as they
wonder what they do to piss you off like everyone else because bad complainers spread negatively.
Maybe it's best with your family to not sweat the mildly annoying pet peeves. What children would
want to commit their lives to a church that their parents always complain about. And, will a child
that consently hears murmuring from their parents about their grandparents learn to respect their
elders as they should? It only makes sense that grumbling parents raise grumbling kids, and
grumbling kids turn into grumbling adults. Constantly voicing pet peeves and complaints at your job
can cause problems and shape how people perceive you. A general atmosphere of dissatisfaction
grows when there is complaining in the work place. If you come across as intolerant, you convey to
others that you're a slow adapter and picky. A seasoned complainer rarely takes personal ownership,
which only highlights the powerlessness that got them complaining in the first place so, chill out!

Everyone has some sort of pet–peeve that makes them tick. I have several, but there is one in
particular that makes especially annoyed. And that is when people try to talk to me or strike up a
conversation while wearing headphones (or earbuds, the two can be viewed interchangeably in this
essay). For myself, and many others, the act of wearing headphones signals that I do not want to be
bothered. You can most likely find me on public transportation on my way to work–or any other
place I want to go during my free time–with earbuds pondering about life or my next meal.

S. Thompson (2013) discusses when it is acceptable to wear headphones and when it is not, saying
"the best rule of thumb is to choose the events for which it's necessary and courteous to be mentally
present–social events, meetings, the dinner table, any place people gather to converse or be
entertained–and put the headphones away". Still, S. Thompson (2013) does believe that we are
allowed to "put up barriers that shut out distractions, make ourselves appear less approachable to
strangers and close off the world outside our own heads". Thus, people may be choosing to only
selectively see technology when it best suits them, or when they find that technology is an
inconvenience. One instance in which people may be deliberately ignoring someone's use of
headphones is when they are trying to "pick up" an individual. More specifically, as written about in
a 2013 article by Dan Bacon titled How to Talk to a Woman Who is Wearing Headphones. In this
article, Bacon (2013) gives men advice on how to talk to a woman wearing headphones and says
things like "don't ever think that you're doing a bad thing by approaching and talking to a woman in

My pet peeve is bad drivers: the people who drive with no care of anyone else on the road. There are
many types of bad drivers, including slow drivers, fast drivers, and those who cannot follow simple
traffic instructions. There are also drivers who cannot stay in their lanes or turn too tightly at a light,
almost hitting others in the process. Another predicament that frustrates me is when people do not
put on their blinker until the last second. On the way to school, there is a Starbucks attached to a

Comparing Bodi's Pet Peeves And Do Not Do/Learn
English is a framework of general agreements, working to support a patchwork of various forms and
types of language that we call English. After reading "Bodi's Pet Peeves" and "Do Not Do/Learn," I
recognized most of the things listed, but realized that most of the time they are ignored. Improper
English is used throughout a majority of people's days, and with this convention of English, we
ignore proper mechanics. Lack of proper English mechanics causes the use in essays and writing

Two Pet Peeves
While I was cutting out a rusted section of my vehicle, a cloth sheet hanging over the vehicle's panel
would consistently fall and block my sight. I was angry at the sheet. Then I thought, maybe if I
would've secured the sheet better I wouldn't have this problem. When I understood the cause of the
problem I was no longer angry at the sheet. The cause was my own stupidity. In a situation that
tends to annoy me, I find it is best to try to understand the problem. In this essay, I will write about
my two greatest pet peeves and what I will learn about them. My two pet peeves are when insects
fly in my ear, and when I bang my head against hard objects. It is very difficult for me to function
while there is an insect buzzing around my head. I am not annoyed by the sound of the insect, but of
its presence. I wonder why they tend to wander near our faces. According to an article at
"bughunter.tamu.edu," many Insects are attracted to what we naturally produce and possess. The
CO2 we produce through our respiratory system attracts flies and gnats while they are airborne.
Insects fly near our noses because they are attracted to the CO2 that is released from our nostrils (1).
In Debbie Hadley's article "How Do Ticks Get on You," she wrote, CO2 also attracts ticks. ... Show

Pet Friendly By Sue Pethick
Animal companionship is available through many choices and may include such examples as furry,
four legged creatures or those that may slither and frighten even the most ardent animal lover. Still,
the mutual bond that forms between owner and guardian transcends the daily duties associated with
pet ownership. These emotional relationships are corroborated through personal stories and often
presented in heartwarming movies and novels. Pet Friendly by Sue Pethick embodies one example
by utilizing an encouraging theme to exemplify how pet ownership, including the rewarding aspect
of adoption, has a magnitude of positive benefits on the physical, emotional, and social well–being
of the human companion.
Notably, there are a significant number of amazing animals available for adoption, many of whom
exist in shelters, which desperately seek forever homes. Sue Pethick corroborates this point by
stating, "The humane society had plenty of healthy, adoptable dogs" (192). Consequently, one of the
most fulfilling reasons for animal adoption is reducing the exorbitantly high euthanasia rates.
According to Vegetarian Times, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
reported that approximately 7.6 million animals exist in shelters; of those, 2.7 million each were
adopted and euthanized. Upon further examination, felines were euthanized at a rate of 41%, while
dogs were put to death at a rate of 31% (Barley 48). However, the future does not have to remain
bleak for the

Research Paper On My Biggest Pet Peeves
My Biggest Pet Peeve: Liars One of the biggest pet peeves that I have at the moment is a liar. What
is a liar? A liar, to me, is disloyal, dishonest, untrustworthy, and conniving. When I think about a liar
certain types of people come to mind. These type of people include criminals, lawyers, and cheaters.
A good percentage of criminals are known for lying when they get caught for their crimes. An
example, of a scenario that I think of is when wrongdoers lie to the police about their true intentions
on why they may have committed a crime. Being conniving causes them to become ruthless with
their lies, and hypothetically could cause them to do or say whatever so they will not have to reap
what they sow. Based on past experiences, people lie

Movie Review : My Biggest Pet Peeves
One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to movies is how the ending occurs. Whether it is a
happily every after, or a dark turn of events, as long as the flick doesn't end abrupt I will most likely
enjoy it. 12 Angry Men went the other direction. Resulting in a cliffhanger to end without telling the
audience whether or not the boy actually did the crime. Compelling, yet thrilling as the director left
a big question mark at the end of this film. The jurors in this film each had their own personality and
creative background in their lives creating a mess in the juror room. Two distinct jurors popped out
to me while watching this film. These two jurors who were more different than each other could
ever be reminded me of certain characteristics that I could relate to. Juror number one who was the
high school coach with a vary laid back attitude towards the actions of the room was the first juror
who I could relate to. Almost immediately you could tell that he had selective listening engaged
during the first 45 minutes into the film. Willing to agree with the majority on the verdict of guilty,
juror number one wasn't going to stand out and vote not–guilty and start the feud, that will come
later by juror number 8. After hearing what juror number 8 had to say about his strange vote towards
not–guilty, juror number one was only paying attention to the vast majority of guilty voters who
stated the obvious facts against the accused. He wasn't about to listen to some lone random

Running heading: Organizational Change Process Presentation
Cornelius Bowman
LDR 531
Dr. C
Introduction
This paper focuses on the various strategies of organization change based on the leaders' pet peeves.
It has researched articles from various authors. One of such author is Kowaski, Robin M. in his
book, "Complaining, Teasing and other Annoying Behaviors". The paper has gone further to provide
the recommendations on how these organizations changes are carried out. The paper has reviewed
the case scenario of a C.E.O who wants to bring about change, but is concerned by the large size of
the employees and a company's long history without change. In the first section of the discussion,
the paper highlights data observed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Long working hours have both disadvantage and advantages (Kuriger, 2004). The advantage being
the extra working hours can be used to create employment. However, if this is not the case and the
same workers are overworked then it becomes a drawback to both the workers and the organization.
Employees will want to work the extra hours so as to earn more pay and some it is due to job
insecurity. Some organizations will not pay the extra hours arguing that its part of the job
description, but this poses a threat to the employee's health and safety. This is brought about by
exhaustion hence reduced concentration at work. The work performance will reduce and the
organization will stand to lose. To deal with this, the company may decide to create a policy where
overtime working is voluntary depending on the individual capacity of the employees. The company
might also decide to employ more workers, and then divide them in such a way that some are
assigned those shifts that would have otherwise been overtime (Poole, 2000).
It would be true to say that when things are well back home, then at work all will be fine. The
employee will tend to do their job according to the way they run things back at home. When a
woman is experiencing domestic violence, she will tend to be in a low mood, which in turn affects
her working performance. As much as the company ought to respect its employees' privacy, it
cannot just stand and

Essay On Pet Peeve
Pet Peeves, the meaning is short and simple. "Something" that a particular person finds especially
annoying. Everyone has one pet peeve that seems to stand out from all the others. There are many
little things that bother me in life, but the most bothering is my sister. My sister's name is Georgia
and she is 11 years old. Many of you might know her, seen her on my snapchat stories, or instagram
photos. One of the many pet peeves about her is thinking she is better than me. Doesn't matter what
it is about, whether it's sports, school, or likes on instagram, she will have to argue with me saying
she is better. She is usually right in our arguments, which makes my blood boil. What also makes
my blood boil is that she is liked more by my grandma than me. She tries to deny it, but it is obvious
my grandma has favorites. I love my sister with all my heart, but she is a pill. Georgia is always
judging me. She judges me on what I look like in the morning, what I get on my math tests, and
even singing in the shower. My sister has to be my biggest pet peeve in my life, but if I didn't have
my sister, I don't know where I would be now. Even though she is four years younger than me, I go
to her with all my problems. She judges me, but if she knows I am upset she will comfort me with
her jokes and stories. Georgia is my sister, pain in my behind, best friend, and my therapist all in
one.
One time, my family and I went to cousin's house in Saratoga. Keep in mind I was in 7th grade,
meaning Georgia was in 3rd grade. I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

day, I still love her. I encourage you to find a Georgia in your life. She will drive you nuts, but she

Pet Peeves Research Paper
I have chosen to write about my pet peeves. I would like you to know, I don't ever vent about my
life, normally I am actually the therapist of my group of friends, meaning that they usually tell me
what's wrong with them. Considering that, this is a list that is long in the making. I mustn't hold this
in any longer. By the way, If I use the words "you or your" I am not talking to you directly, I'm just
talking to a general audience. So, without further ado, my list begins. NUMBER ONE: I loathe it
when I have a slushie and I drink all the juice and all I have left is the ice because the ice takes
FOREVER to melt and by the time it has melted, I have just given up and thrown it away. There
goes five dollars! NUMBER TWO: One of my worst pet peeves is if I can hear someone's music ...

NUMBER THREE: People, please don't meander down the hallways. When I'm trying to get back
upstairs after allied arts, the rush hour traffic in Manhattan mover faster than the kids in our grade
walking down the hall. NUMBER FOUR: If you're lingering in a doorway or the hall, please keep
walking. People are trying to get to their classes, they don't need you stagnant, in their way having a
conversation with your friends about which guy is more attractive. Furthermore, please don't stop
right in front of me when I'm walking. I might run you over on "accident". NUMBER FIVE: If I say
something and you think it might be funny to respond with "what? I didn't hear you" repeatedly to
make me repeat myself, I might yell at you. That's not even funny. I just want to know, what kind of
person is entertained by that? And depending on the amount of times you make me repeat myself, I
might think it funny to "not hear you" when you ask for a favor or what notes you were supposed to
take while you took your ten minute bathroom break. NUMBER SIX: If you ever come to my ice
cream shop, It would be nice if you actually got Ice cream and didn't park your car in the middle of
the lot for hours

Pet Peeves and Ethics
Pet Peeves and Ethics A pet peeve that I have that bothers me immensely is when people make
unnecessary noise or allow unnecessary noise to persist in a public place. For example, if I'm on
public transportation and someone is allowing music from radio to be heard to the rest of the train, I
find that to be one of the most self–absorbed and rudest forms of behavior possible. In public places
one of the fundamental guideposts of human behavior is to not engage in any behavior that makes
people uncomfortable or ill at ease. Case in point, if someone were to bring a realistic looking toy
gun out to a café and just keep it placed in full view on top of the table one was sitting at, such a
move would make a range if people feel very uncomfortable. One wouldn't even need to take the
gun and wave it around or to overtly threaten people. Simply the presence of a realistic looking gun
is enough to make others uncomfortable. Engaging in behavior that puts other people in an
uncomfortable or annoyed position is a violation of the social contract. The majority of people are
respectful of others and don't partake in such behavior. Those that do are generally the ones who
willingly violate this social code. Cialdini points this out in his six principles of influence. He
demonstrates how the principle of social proof depends largely on ""¦on people's sense of "safety in
numbers.'For example, we're more likely to work late if others in our team are doing the same, put a
tip in a jar

Pet Peeve Research Paper
Introduction: How often do many of you see a little old woman slowly walking down the aisle at the
grocery store and a young adult almost run her over trying to pass her? How often do you see a
young teen telling an adult about their future plans to be a policeman and the adult tells them that
they should strive to be a doctor, instead of a policeman? How many of you have been working on a
group project, and one of the group members don't do their part? (Attention Getter) Today I will be
talking about my worst pet peeves (Reveal Topic), which are rude, pessimistic, and unreliable
people. (Thesis)
My first pet peeve is rude people who don't show empathy to others. (MP1) I just hate when people
don't speak and walk straight pass someone who looks as though they are having a bad day. I feel
that the least these people can do is speak, even if they choose not to stop and see what's going on
with the person. I also hate when a nonthreatening homeless person tries to talk to someone and they
reply by putting their heads in the air as though the person is beneath them. My mom and
grandparents have always taught me to be nice to everyone, because you never ... Show more

(MP2) Just the other day at work, a man asked me what my future plans were. I told him I was
going to major in accounting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and would later run for
mayor. He replied to my statement by saying, "Whatever you do don't come back here, because
there is nothing here". Although he had just heard me tell him about my dream of becoming mayor
of Selma, he still made this reply. If I was more impressionable like many other people around my
age, he could have very well shot down my plans to complete my dream of returning to Selma and
becoming mayor. Pessimistic people like this man I met at the library are dream killers who never
support the plans of others. This man really reinforced my dislike towards pessimistic

Interview with April Grant. Every morning April Grant, Berkeley College student in New York City
feels angry and irritated. She is very nice and happy person, but when she faces her biggest pet

wouldn't happen if there were no slow people in NYC. "People just need to move out the way"
(Grand). April is likes to be everywhere on time. "If you said you'll be there at this particular time,

The Importance Of Companion Animals And Physical Well...
Introduction
A giant fluffy dog walks past you as you cross the street on your college campus. You cannot help
but notice him smiling up at you with his tongue half hanging out. Although you have felt today has
been the worst day, you cannot help but feel compelled to respond back with a big grin since he
looks so happy. According to Wells (2009), "it is only recently, however, that any scientific attention
has been devoted to the relationship between companion animals and physical well–being in
humans." With new information, owning a companion animal has become increasingly more
popular for college student to have on their campuses. College campuses can be a hard time for
many, and can drive students to be continuously stressed, or to ... Show more content on

In order to conclude her results she looked at attachment style For her results she concluded, "a
direct causal association between human well–being and companion animals is still not conclusive,
the literature reviewed above is largely supportive of the widely held belief that 'pets are good for
us" (Wells, 2009). Although she found no supportive link between the two variables, she did still see
that somehow and someway animals can improve people's lives. College students can fall under the
disease category of this study since many students suffer from these conditions when times become
stressful.
Friedman and Son (2009) also studied the association of companion animals and human health
benefits. "An important question is whether pet ownership causes better health or better health
encourages pet ownership" (Friedman and Son, 2009). After researching this question, they found
that "pet owners had lower levels of cardiovascular risk factors such as serum triglyceride and blood
pressure than non–owners"(Friedman and Son, 2009). They even looked at a longitudinal study that
"pet ownership was associated with increased 1–year survival rates in patients hospitalized for
coronary heart disease" (Friedman and Son, 2009). There results provided a basis that the
association between both variables does

The word pet peeve can be translated in many different ways. Its extremity is defined by the
individual who has it. Pet peeves can span from smacking gum all the way to inequality. If I had to
place all my attention on one it would be supremacy, or the act of thinking of oneself as superior to
others. To illustrate my point, if a student who had a 4.0 GPA score referred to another as dumb or
ignorant the student who has the 4.0 was thinking of himself as superior to the other. His academic
achievements were allowing him to place himself in a position of authority above others. Biblically
supremacy is something that is not praised and should never be tolerated. Supremacy is not only in
place with students. It is also in act with society. For

Dogs and Cats Compare and Contrast
Raising pets is a good habit; through it you can learn how to take care of domestic animals. You
may also have many other advantages; such as while you raise a pet you will have a very sincere
friend for you. Most people like to have cats or dogs as pets, but which is better cats or dogs. Both
cats and dogs are easy to be raised but they differ in many things that you may prefer to raise one of
them instead of the other. They differ in terms of cleaning, exercising, and training.
It is already known that cats are very clean animals. They clean them selves by their tongues. They
clean them selves using sands. Also cats clean their children. You do not need to clean them, just
depend on them to make themselves clean. As cats do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do not move a lot, unless there is a need to their movement. Dogs also do not create tricks; you
need to teach them every single movement. Another important part in raising dogs is training; you
need to have extra time to train your dog. Teaching your dog to obey instructions requires you
allowing the dog to do the right commands and correct the wrong ones. You must never be too hard
on the dog and avoid striking it; otherwise it will not obey you. If it tends to obey you because of
punishment, it will be unhappy. Try to reward your dog as you train it, to get what you want and to
make your dog follow the instructions. As a result of dogs requiring cleaning, exercising, and
training, you have to provide your dog with proper leadership. In consequence, you will spend much
more time to take care of your dog.
While dogs and cats are a lot alike, you have to consider their differences before you choose your
pet. As mentioned before cats do not require cleaning nor exercising or training, while dogs are in
need of all these things. If you want to raise a pet then, try to manage your time before you choose

Will's Pet Peeve I hate it when people scratch their fork on the plate. It's annoying it makes me want

chasing its tale. If it wasn't for me doing it too I would be locked up in an asylum right now.
Whenever I make the noise it's usually with steak, chicken or pork chops. But when everybody else

Pet Peeve Essay On Miscommunication

  • 1. Pet Peeve Essay On Miscommunication By now I think I've made it quite apparent that one of my biggest pet peeves is miscommunication. I pride myself on being a first–rate communicator. I may not be perfect at it, but I try really, really, REALLY hard to choose my words carefully – both in speaking and in writing. So, when something I've said or written gets misconstrued, it makes me CRAZY! To make matters worse, sometimes the more I try to explain myself, the more confusing the situation seems to become because people, in general, do not always know how to LISTEN. I include myself in that category. Being a good listener is definitely a skill one must continually practice. When these situations happen, it makes me want to run off to some secluded place, never again having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heights is one of the only fears I have, I would love to, to go skydiving one day but my fear of heights would hold me back. One time at this park that I used to hang at, Par Kour was a fun hobby everyone used to do back in the 6th grade, everyone used to climb up small buildings, playground ceilings, restroom roofs and park pavilions. Me, myself was never goodlike my friends were back then, the things that they used to flip over and climbs things I could never imagine doing. So, one day I decided to do it with them, we were running around, hopping over things, flipping around until we made it to the park restroom on the other side of park. They managed to get up onto ... • 3. Pet Peeve Research Paper Most people in the world talk about others no matter the case. People talk about each other in the case of religion, race, gender, etc. The biggest pet peeve is people who are judgmental.I will never forget the time that I heard the most disrespectful and judgmental thing in that school when I was in the fifth grade. In this memory I had a friend that had his family moving to the states from Iraq because of his father. I remember the first day I saw this kid. It was in September on a warm and windy Tuesday. This particular Tuesday was not like any other Tuesday because of the new student and the way the room felt when he walked in. • 4. Pet Peeve Essay Examples My Pet Peeve Essay "Practice What You Preach" This essay is similar to snowboarding down Andrews for the first time. At Sundown, Andrews is labeled as "very difficult." As I snowboarded down the slope, I began to gain speed and I realized I was unable to slow down. After using a heel turn to lower my speed, I carved down the hill through obstacles. This run was challenging and time–consuming because of the obstacles. When I finally reached the bottom of the hill, I relaxed, and I approached the ski lift to begin my journey back up. This essay is similar to my snowboarding experience in numerous ways. I had trouble finding content to add to my paper, and this essay required a large amount of work and revisions. Peer response with my classmates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Top 10 Assume Pet Peeves Reviewing the samples resumes was tedious, because while there was differences between the resumes, majority of the resumes read the same. I can conclude that I do not want to be a job recruiter because after the fifth resume, I was about done. Though there weren't spelling errors that I noticed, there was a lot of grammar errors. According to the Recruiters' Top 10 Resume Pet Peeves, by Norma Gaffin, pet peeve number 1 was spelling errors, typos and poor grammar. Reading the resumes made sure that I go back and double check mine, because a person's resume is basically an advertisement of a person's qualities. Many job recruiters receive numerous resumes every day, and in order for someone to compete, the persons resume needs to stand out. Basically, job seekers send in a resume that highlights the products or skills that they are trying to sell to the recruiter. If the product is the same as everyone else, job recruiters would not want to buy in your product. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of formatting his resume in a concise, clear, order with bullet points, he wrote long paragraphs about his positions, qualities and education. Another example, is John Doe from 49th ave, who used different font sizes throughout his resume. Formatting like these can turn off a recruiter from continuing reading a someone's resume. Some resumes that stood out to me, were concise, lack spelling or grammar errors, and were straight to the point. There wasn't irrelevant information such as hobbies include cooking, reading, etc. According to the text, a good resume should be focused towards the job description, and should have keywords that highlights the skills needed for the ... • 6. Biggest Pet Peeves I am almost positive that everyone at some point in their life has been looked at wrongly for something that they didn't do or wasn't their fault. For me, that would be for bumping into a walker in the hallways at school. This situation however was not my fault it was the other person's fault for not paying attention. One of my biggest pet peeves is the people that walk the hallways at Belleville West High School. One reason why it is one of my biggest pet peeves is because of the rudeness apparently associated with the walking of the halls. People think it is completely sociably acceptable to get in someone's face if they bump into them because they were texting or off in the "la la" land of stupidity. • 7. Pet Peeves: A Short Story As I look out into the class, my stomach immediately drops. Every single one of them was staring at me. Like drones with heavy eyes, waiting for this to be over. Quickly, my eyes dart back down to the note card I am holding in my shaking hand. The few notes I had written were sloppy and I can barely read them. I hadn't had much time to prepare which only added to my already high stress level when it comes to public speaking. I opened my mouth to begin my speech, but I struggled to find my voice. Closing my mouth, embarrassed, I quietly attempted to clear my voice and start again. Although this time sound did escape my mouth, it was a jumbled mess. I hadn't even made it through two sentences and I had already used "like", "um" and "and" about 20 times each. The rest of my speech went equally as horribly and to say I was relieved when it was over would be a major understatement. Shamefully, walking back to my seat I started to beat myself up about everything that I had done wrong. From the moment the bell rang for class to start and Mrs. Pearlman had told us today was the day for impromptu speeches I had been nervous. We were only given 10 minutes to prepare for a five minute speech on our biggest pet peeves. Everything had clicked into place and I had finally got a handle on public speaking. • 8. P-Pet P Pet Peeve Essay O–Opinion Obviously teens face many problems. One of the problems that stand out to me the most would be the problem of laziness, or not doing homework. My opinion on this is that it is something that teens should learn how to fix. In general, teens do not see the consequences of not doing homework or paying attention in class. I believe that teens should be taught about what could happen if they do not learn the information provided in class, because how are they supposed to know if all they are thinking about is the present. Another option would be learning how to ask for help. If a teen was overwhelmed with homework or was having trouble focusing, there is always someone you can go to to ask for help. P–Pet Peeve (Things that other people do that really bother you) The most prominent pet peeve that I had this year was people chewing with their mouths open. And don't even get my dad started on people who don't turn right on red. For other people it could be loud talkers, or people who cut into your conversation, or even tapping; but it seems like everyone has some sort of a major pet peeve. So let me go ahead and just tell you about mine. Walking swiftly through the long hallways, I listen to the murmurs of other people. As I continue to walk all I can hear are the loud squishy noises and people rubbing up against each other. I try to tune them out and focus only on what is ahead, but it seems like they are everywhere. It becomes like two worms fighting for dominance and neither one ever seems to give up. Their long squishy bodies press hard against each other to try and get a jab every now and then. Once one worm gets hold of another a loud sloshing noise is released as the other worm tries to fight back. The worms, fighting hard to prove they are superior, never back down. This is just the same as two people's bodies forcefully pressed against each other as they fight with their tongues. As soon as their tongues touch the saliva is swished back and forth between the two mouths. The two people, trying to prove they wear the pants in the relationship, never back down. ... She worked with dogs and cats, caring for them until they were adopted into forever homes. She also formed relationships with fellow volunteers, specifically one from the same Family, Youth, and Community Sciences (FYCS) program at the University of Florida. In this paper, Carly's feelings about the service learning in which she participated will be discussed, as well as how her actions in helping animals find homes benefitted the community. The benefits of her actions are backed up with research done by Dr. James E. Gern and an article published in Parents Magazine. Relationships between what she's learned in her Principles of Family, Youth, and Community Sciences class will be examined, along with her feelings about her experience at the ACHS. For others, it could be the one stray mark left unerased on the otherwise impeccable white board. For me, however, this question was left largely unanswered for a long while. "What do I hate?" I would sit for what seemed to be hours contemplating my answer. At last, I would come to some relative conclusion, telling myself with hopeful surety that I had at least found a topic worthy of a concise, one page discourse. There needs to be that willingness to listen, to forgive, to show no judgement and to love for the sake of loving. There's also the decision of a two or four legged companion. Dogs have been known as Man's Best Friend for an uncountable amount of years, with many reasons that are not surprising. The bond has been collaborating and evolving for thousands of years, with benefits to both sides of the relationship. I have used many websites and physical sources to help me find out and explain how and why dogs have become so beneficial to the mental and emotional stability of their human counterparts. It has always been said that humans in the caveman era domesticated wolves, but in reality, it could of been a partner effort. Humans in many different countries and cultures, had been and still are hunting the last known wolves straight into extinction, but back 15 to 32 years ago is when we began to domesticate each other. (Lee, J. Jane) When you are forced to live in the same environment as another human or creature, usually you both learn to adapt to the ways of one another. Voicing every pet peeve to your friends can make them feel uneasy around you as they wonder what they do to piss you off like everyone else because bad complainers spread negatively. Maybe it's best with your family to not sweat the mildly annoying pet peeves. What children would want to commit their lives to a church that their parents always complain about. And, will a child that consently hears murmuring from their parents about their grandparents learn to respect their elders as they should? It only makes sense that grumbling parents raise grumbling kids, and grumbling kids turn into grumbling adults. Constantly voicing pet peeves and complaints at your job can cause problems and shape how people perceive you. A general atmosphere of dissatisfaction grows when there is complaining in the work place. If you come across as intolerant, you convey to others that you're a slow adapter and picky. For myself, and many others, the act of wearing headphones signals that I do not want to be bothered. You can most likely find me on public transportation on my way to work–or any other place I want to go during my free time–with earbuds pondering about life or my next meal. Still, S. Thompson (2013) does believe that we are allowed to "put up barriers that shut out distractions, make ourselves appear less approachable to strangers and close off the world outside our own heads". Thus, people may be choosing to only selectively see technology when it best suits them, or when they find that technology is an inconvenience. One instance in which people may be deliberately ignoring someone's use of headphones is when they are trying to "pick up" an individual. More specifically, as written about in a 2013 article by Dan Bacon titled How to Talk to a Woman Who is Wearing Headphones. In this article, Bacon (2013) gives men advice on how to talk to a woman wearing headphones and says things like "don't ever think that you're doing a bad thing by approaching and talking to a woman in a confident, easy going away". Then I thought, maybe if I would've secured the sheet better I wouldn't have this problem. When I understood the cause of the problem I was no longer angry at the sheet. The cause was my own stupidity. In a situation that tends to annoy me, I find it is best to try to understand the problem. In this essay, I will write about my two greatest pet peeves and what I will learn about them. My two pet peeves are when insects fly in my ear, and when I bang my head against hard objects. It is very difficult for me to function while there is an insect buzzing around my head. I am not annoyed by the sound of the insect, but of its presence. I wonder why they tend to wander near our faces. According to an article at "bughunter.tamu.edu," many Insects are attracted to what we naturally produce and possess. The CO2 we produce through our respiratory system attracts flies and gnats while they are airborne. Insects fly near our noses because they are attracted to the CO2 that is released from our nostrils (1). In Debbie Hadley's article "How Do Ticks Get on You," she wrote, CO2 also attracts ticks. ... • 26. Pet Friendly By Sue Pethick Animal companionship is available through many choices and may include such examples as furry, four legged creatures or those that may slither and frighten even the most ardent animal lover. Still, the mutual bond that forms between owner and guardian transcends the daily duties associated with pet ownership. These emotional relationships are corroborated through personal stories and often presented in heartwarming movies and novels. Pet Friendly by Sue Pethick embodies one example by utilizing an encouraging theme to exemplify how pet ownership, including the rewarding aspect of adoption, has a magnitude of positive benefits on the physical, emotional, and social well–being of the human companion. Notably, there are a significant number of amazing animals available for adoption, many of whom exist in shelters, which desperately seek forever homes. Sue Pethick corroborates this point by stating, "The humane society had plenty of healthy, adoptable dogs" (192). Consequently, one of the most fulfilling reasons for animal adoption is reducing the exorbitantly high euthanasia rates. According to Vegetarian Times, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reported that approximately 7.6 million animals exist in shelters; of those, 2.7 million each were adopted and euthanized. Upon further examination, felines were euthanized at a rate of 41%, while dogs were put to death at a rate of 31% (Barley 48). However, the future does not have to remain bleak for the ... • 27. Research Paper On My Biggest Pet Peeves My Biggest Pet Peeve: Liars One of the biggest pet peeves that I have at the moment is a liar. What is a liar? A liar, to me, is disloyal, dishonest, untrustworthy, and conniving. When I think about a liar certain types of people come to mind. These type of people include criminals, lawyers, and cheaters. A good percentage of criminals are known for lying when they get caught for their crimes. An example, of a scenario that I think of is when wrongdoers lie to the police about their true intentions on why they may have committed a crime. Being conniving causes them to become ruthless with their lies, and hypothetically could cause them to do or say whatever so they will not have to reap what they sow. Based on past experiences, people lie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Movie Review : My Biggest Pet Peeves One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to movies is how the ending occurs. Whether it is a happily every after, or a dark turn of events, as long as the flick doesn't end abrupt I will most likely enjoy it. 12 Angry Men went the other direction. Resulting in a cliffhanger to end without telling the audience whether or not the boy actually did the crime. Compelling, yet thrilling as the director left a big question mark at the end of this film. The jurors in this film each had their own personality and creative background in their lives creating a mess in the juror room. Two distinct jurors popped out to me while watching this film. These two jurors who were more different than each other could ever be reminded me of certain characteristics that I could relate to. Juror number one who was the high school coach with a vary laid back attitude towards the actions of the room was the first juror who I could relate to. Almost immediately you could tell that he had selective listening engaged during the first 45 minutes into the film. Willing to agree with the majority on the verdict of guilty, juror number one wasn't going to stand out and vote not–guilty and start the feud, that will come later by juror number 8. After hearing what juror number 8 had to say about his strange vote towards not–guilty, juror number one was only paying attention to the vast majority of guilty voters who stated the obvious facts against the accused. He wasn't about to listen to some lone random ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Pet Peeves Running heading: Organizational Change Process Presentation Cornelius Bowman LDR 531 Dr. C Introduction This paper focuses on the various strategies of organization change based on the leaders' pet peeves. It has researched articles from various authors. One of such author is Kowaski, Robin M. in his book, "Complaining, Teasing and other Annoying Behaviors". The paper has gone further to provide the recommendations on how these organizations changes are carried out. The paper has reviewed the case scenario of a C.E.O who wants to bring about change, but is concerned by the large size of the employees and a company's long history without change. In the first section of the discussion, the paper highlights data observed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long working hours have both disadvantage and advantages (Kuriger, 2004). The advantage being the extra working hours can be used to create employment. However, if this is not the case and the same workers are overworked then it becomes a drawback to both the workers and the organization. Employees will want to work the extra hours so as to earn more pay and some it is due to job insecurity. Some organizations will not pay the extra hours arguing that its part of the job description, but this poses a threat to the employee's health and safety. This is brought about by exhaustion hence reduced concentration at work. The work performance will reduce and the organization will stand to lose. To deal with this, the company may decide to create a policy where overtime working is voluntary depending on the individual capacity of the employees. The company might also decide to employ more workers, and then divide them in such a way that some are assigned those shifts that would have otherwise been overtime (Poole, 2000). It would be true to say that when things are well back home, then at work all will be fine. The employee will tend to do their job according to the way they run things back at home. When a woman is experiencing domestic violence, she will tend to be in a low mood, which in turn affects her working performance. As much as the company ought to respect its employees' privacy, it cannot just stand and

  • 31. Essay On Pet Peeve Pet Peeves, the meaning is short and simple. "Something" that a particular person finds especially annoying. Everyone has one pet peeve that seems to stand out from all the others. There are many little things that bother me in life, but the most bothering is my sister. My sister's name is Georgia and she is 11 years old. Many of you might know her, seen her on my snapchat stories, or instagram photos. One of the many pet peeves about her is thinking she is better than me. Doesn't matter what it is about, whether it's sports, school, or likes on instagram, she will have to argue with me saying she is better. She is usually right in our arguments, which makes my blood boil. What also makes my blood boil is that she is liked more by my grandma than me. She tries to deny it, but it is obvious my grandma has favorites. I love my sister with all my heart, but she is a pill. Georgia is always judging me. She judges me on what I look like in the morning, what I get on my math tests, and even singing in the shower. My sister has to be my biggest pet peeve in my life, but if I didn't have my sister, I don't know where I would be now. Even though she is four years younger than me, I go to her with all my problems. She judges me, but if she knows I am upset she will comfort me with her jokes and stories. • 32. Pet Peeves Research Paper I have chosen to write about my pet peeves. I would like you to know, I don't ever vent about my life, normally I am actually the therapist of my group of friends, meaning that they usually tell me what's wrong with them. Considering that, this is a list that is long in the making. I mustn't hold this in any longer. By the way, If I use the words "you or your" I am not talking to you directly, I'm just talking to a general audience. So, without further ado, my list begins. NUMBER ONE: I loathe it when I have a slushie and I drink all the juice and all I have left is the ice because the ice takes FOREVER to melt and by the time it has melted, I have just given up and thrown it away. There goes five dollars! NUMBER TWO: One of my worst pet peeves is if I can hear someone's music ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NUMBER THREE: People, please don't meander down the hallways. When I'm trying to get back upstairs after allied arts, the rush hour traffic in Manhattan mover faster than the kids in our grade walking down the hall. NUMBER FOUR: If you're lingering in a doorway or the hall, please keep walking. People are trying to get to their classes, they don't need you stagnant, in their way having a conversation with your friends about which guy is more attractive. Furthermore, please don't stop right in front of me when I'm walking. I might run you over on "accident". NUMBER FIVE: If I say something and you think it might be funny to respond with "what? I didn't hear you" repeatedly to make me repeat myself, I might yell at you. That's not even funny. I just want to know, what kind of person is entertained by that? And depending on the amount of times you make me repeat myself, I might think it funny to "not hear you" when you ask for a favor or what notes you were supposed to take while you took your ten minute bathroom break. • 33. Pet Peeves and Ethics Pet Peeves and Ethics A pet peeve that I have that bothers me immensely is when people make unnecessary noise or allow unnecessary noise to persist in a public place. For example, if I'm on public transportation and someone is allowing music from radio to be heard to the rest of the train, I find that to be one of the most self–absorbed and rudest forms of behavior possible. In public places one of the fundamental guideposts of human behavior is to not engage in any behavior that makes people uncomfortable or ill at ease. Case in point, if someone were to bring a realistic looking toy gun out to a café and just keep it placed in full view on top of the table one was sitting at, such a move would make a range if people feel very uncomfortable. One wouldn't even need to take the gun and wave it around or to overtly threaten people. Simply the presence of a realistic looking gun is enough to make others uncomfortable. Engaging in behavior that puts other people in an uncomfortable or annoyed position is a violation of the social contract. The majority of people are respectful of others and don't partake in such behavior. Those that do are generally the ones who willingly violate this social code. Cialdini points this out in his six principles of influence. He demonstrates how the principle of social proof depends largely on ""¦on people's sense of "safety in numbers.'For example, we're more likely to work late if others in our team are doing the same, put a tip in a jar ... Pet Peeve Research Paper Introduction: How often do many of you see a little old woman slowly walking down the aisle at the grocery store and a young adult almost run her over trying to pass her? How often do you see a young teen telling an adult about their future plans to be a policeman and the adult tells them that they should strive to be a doctor, instead of a policeman? How many of you have been working on a group project, and one of the group members don't do their part? (Attention Getter) Today I will be talking about my worst pet peeves (Reveal Topic), which are rude, pessimistic, and unreliable people. (Thesis) My first pet peeve is rude people who don't show empathy to others. (MP1) I just hate when people don't speak and walk straight pass someone who looks as though they are having a bad day. I feel that the least these people can do is speak, even if they choose not to stop and see what's going on with the person. I also hate when a nonthreatening homeless person tries to talk to someone and they reply by putting their heads in the air as though the person is beneath them. Although he had just heard me tell him about my dream of becoming mayor of Selma, he still made this reply. If I was more impressionable like many other people around my age, he could have very well shot down my plans to complete my dream of returning to Selma and becoming mayor. You cannot help but notice him smiling up at you with his tongue half hanging out. Although you have felt today has been the worst day, you cannot help but feel compelled to respond back with a big grin since he looks so happy. According to Wells (2009), "it is only recently, however, that any scientific attention has been devoted to the relationship between companion animals and physical well–being in humans." Although she found no supportive link between the two variables, she did still see that somehow and someway animals can improve people's lives. College students can fall under the disease category of this study since many students suffer from these conditions when times become stressful. Friedman and Son (2009) also studied the association of companion animals and human health benefits. "An important question is whether pet ownership causes better health or better health encourages pet ownership" (Friedman and Son, 2009). After researching this question, they found that "pet owners had lower levels of cardiovascular risk factors such as serum triglyceride and blood pressure than non–owners"(Friedman and Son, 2009). They even looked at a longitudinal study that "pet ownership was associated with increased 1–year survival rates in patients hospitalized for coronary heart disease" (Friedman and Son, 2009). • 37. Pet Peeve Research Paper The word pet peeve can be translated in many different ways. Its extremity is defined by the individual who has it. Pet peeves can span from smacking gum all the way to inequality. If I had to place all my attention on one it would be supremacy, or the act of thinking of oneself as superior to others. To illustrate my point, if a student who had a 4.0 GPA score referred to another as dumb or ignorant the student who has the 4.0 was thinking of himself as superior to the other. His academic achievements were allowing him to place himself in a position of authority above others. Biblically supremacy is something that is not praised and should never be tolerated. You must never be too hard on the dog and avoid striking it; otherwise it will not obey you. If it tends to obey you because of punishment, it will be unhappy. Try to reward your dog as you train it, to get what you want and to make your dog follow the instructions. As a result of dogs requiring cleaning, exercising, and training, you have to provide your dog with proper leadership. In consequence, you will spend much more time to take care of your dog.
