Yankee Tavern Review
The play was in ttu at 02.03.14 - 04:00. The Yankee Tavern
play is filled with excitement and mystery and really amazing.
Despite the fact it’s my first play I have watched the English
version but I really enjoyed it a lot. The play was talking about
9/11 events that happened in New York in 2001. Yankee tavern
focuses on events of September 11, 2001 when the terrorists
hijacked four American planes where two of the planes where
deliberately crashed into the World Trade Center Twin Towers
in New York, one plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia
and the last plane, which was attempted to be taken over by
civilians aboard, crashed in a field in Shanksville Penssylvania.
It happened in bar down in New York near the 2 towers. The
play brings out the question of why the Pentagon was not
protected by upgrading their security systems against terrorists
attack even after facing initial attacks in New York
The play had only four characters namely: Ray who was a
friend of Adams father, Adam who is a master’s Degree student
in International Studies and inherited the bar and the hotel after
his father committed suicide, Janet who is Adams fiancé and
Palmer who is a strange man of few words and who had mystery
surrounding him. Ray is a disturbed conspiracy theorist who
believes everything is a conspiracy. While in the hotel, he talks
to ghosts of the residents and theorizing on an abundance of
conspiracies including the moon landing, murder of JKF, the
Bay of Pigs, global warming and spore allergy attacks. When
palmer comes into the bar and shares the information he had
about the conspiracy, he changes the way Adam and Janet think.
Ray implicates the owner if the World Trade Center, US
government, Saudi princes and numerology. Concerning the
murder of John F. Kennedy, many people wonder if Oswald was
innocent or was the CIA responsible for that murder.
Concerning the first moon landing, some people believe that
footage was fabricated in the Hollywood and that the samples
brought back from the moon were fake.
The characters see that their relationships are threatened
and they are desperately trying to hang on to these relationships
and save these relationships with each other. I think it’s real
easy to see the play as having this sort of destructive world that
is infringing upon these characters which makes them not trust
each other and makes their relationship start to deteriorate. It
was really interesting to me to see these people as the cause of
what’s going on outside... It’s the idea that if we can be more
honest in our relationships, if we can spend more time with the
people we’re involved with and be more open and understanding
and trust each other more, then I think the world wouldn’t be
quite as messed up a place. The characters were pretty amazing
and funny. Also the plot was super interesting that I couldn’t
take my eyes off the stage. The decoration of the stage was
pretty good it was well organized.

Less Miserables
At March, 28, 2014 my classmate and I went to Less
Miserable play. The play was located in high school backdoor.
It was an old play, but I didn’t understand it very well. The play
had many songs in it, but also it was a good idea to mix a play
with songs. The attendances were young and old people which
made the play very excited. The actors had prepared for more
than four months until they were ready to do it for the audience.
At the back top of the theater I saw a small room that had
equipment used to control the lights. The play was telling a
story about poor people and their suffering because the rich
people. The story is about a French peasant (Jean Valeant) who
decided to change his ways after serving nineteen tears in jail
for stealing a loaf of bread for his starving sister’ baby and for
several attempts to escape from the prison. Through the help of
a bishop who forgave him for stealing his silver and gave him
more valuable candlesticks, he is able to turn his life around
and he assumed a new identity eight years later and became a
wealthy factory owner and a mayor.
The play tells a story of a single mother (Fantine) who
worked very hard so as to send upkeep money to her illegitimate
daughter (Cosette). Some of her coworkers find out about her
illegitimate child and she is fired from her job and due to
desperation, she joined prostitution. She gets injured by an
abusive customer. The mayor offered to help her but she later
dies. Meanwhile her daughter suffers in the hands of the family
(Thenardiers family) she had entrusted her daughter to. She was
always overworked and treated cruelly by their own daughters
(Eponine and Azelma). Since the mayor had promised the poor
woman that he would look for her daughter, he paid the family
that had been taking care of Cosette so as to take her away. He
adopts her and they move to Paris.
While in Paris Cosette meets Marius and they falls in love
with each other. While in Paris they discover that the
Thenardiers family had also move to Paris There were many
obstacle preventing them from being together like the
interference from Jean Valjean who always made sure that they
never met and the political unrest in the city. Marius together
with other law students stand their ground and decides to fight
for their freedom and democracy. Valjean discover that Marius
was heading towards a freedom fight and decides to help him
since his daughter was so in love with him. Valjean found
Marius injured and he saved him. After Marius full discovery,
he reconciled with his grandfather who agreed to Marius and
Cosette’s marriage. Valjean at the end confessed to Marius all
about his past criminal activities. Marius and Cosette reconciled
with Valjean after he discover that it was Valjean who had
saved his life. Valjean finally died in peace after reconciling
with his adopted daughter. In my opinion, the show was really
good, but I wish I could understand it all.

Out-door Show
On April, 26,2014, I went with RASHED DAEEJ AND
FAHAD to an outdoor show. It was about cultural music.
Cultural refers to music relating to artistic or social pursuits
considered to be valuable. Yesterday I saw many people dance
in front of the music group. Some of them were adults with kid
though most of them were youth. I think they were dancing
cultural dance maybe cowboy dance. The venue of the show was
at the campus. I arrived at the show at 8:00pm, and the show
came to an end at 9:20pm. There were many people were seating
on the grass, and some were watch their children. It was a
perfect night because the sky was clear, and it was warm. I
actually liked the music, though Hussan didn’t like it at all.
During the show most of the parent were seating on the grass
while their children danced to the music. They preferred to just
watch the show and not to actually participate by dancing..
There were approximately ninety people at the show ground. I
had thought that i was a going to see a play before reaching the
show venue but was surprised to see the people singing and
dancing. There were some songs that I liked and enjoyed, and
there were some songs I didn’t like at all. Actually, we sat on
the grass, and watched the show. It was a really nice new
experience to Hussan and me. I took some pictures during the
show, and sent them to my parents in Kuwait, and they were
surprised. They asked a lot of questions concerning the show. I
told them this was an outdoor show where there was a group of
musicians performing on the stage and the audience joined them
by singing and dancing, and that it was carried out by the
people of Cookeville often. I also informed them that attending
the show was always free. They were happy for me and
promised to visit someday so that we can go to the show
together as a family. I also uploaded some pictures on
Instagram. Instagram is an online photo-sharing, video sharing
and social networking service that enables its users to take
picture and share them on several social networking services
such as Facebook and twitter. Most of my friends were happy to
see the pictures and they asked me about the show. I told them
all the details about the show and that it was held in Tennessee
at TTU University. In my opinion it was a good experience to
me since it was all new to both Hussan and me because we had
never attended such an event. In the end, I like the show and I
would like to go to the show again if there are more scheduled
in the future. I also hope that similar show will be introduced in
Kuwait so that I can enjoy going to the shows together with my
family members.

PATREK
I went to a performing arts center on Jan, 28, 2014. That is my
second play in USA. The play begun at 7:30pm and it came to
an end at 9:30pm. The name of the play was LOVE, LOSS and
WHAT I WORE. The subject matter of the play includes
women’s relationships with their wardrobes and the interaction
between the two. Six women take us on a journey through their
past experiences, hearts and closets. A character called Gingy
opened the show by sketching various parts of her wardrobe
each symbolizing a memory. She told her life story describing
three of her marriages, motherhood and the death of a child,
each stage marked by a specific cloth.
Gingy has a set of simple renderings, beginning with her
latest black dress with sleeve, her brownie uniform and finally
an accessory her granddaughter recommended. The drawings
she made led her into a tour of her own life. She had ugly
leggings held up by suspenders that she wore only when she was
outside. Gingy wanted a store bought dress because her mother
made her clothes that she did not like. After her mother’s death,
her father bought her two navy blue dresses for her 13th
birthday. After a little while her grandmother came and took
Gingy and her sister to stay with her and marks the last time she
ever saw her father. This tells us that a teenage girl’s choice of
dressing is usually decided by her mother. There always results
an argument once the teenager dismisses her mother’s choice of
clothing.
Gingy remembered the time she was fourteen years old,
she wore a black bathing suit when she went to Florida with her
grandmother. The bathing suit reminds her of the time when she
met a twenty-six year old boy on the Bernie Maybrook beach
and he requested her to go for a date with him. Her grandmother
allowed her to go on condition that she was present during the
date.
She remembered when her mother made a forest green
wool jersey dress with re cherries for her sister who had a
voluptuous figure. The dress reminded her of their nicknames
(monkey-hers, the pig and tootsie-for her sister). It also
reminded her of the time her sister cut out pictures from movie
magazines and taped them to the walls of the bedroom they
shared. She is also reminded of the time she had very ugly nails
due to her biting them.
She is reminded of the time she went with her sister
camping as brownies and Girl Scout, there was no electricity
and they had to go in outhouse because they had no flushed
toilet.
The character remembered when she wore a black taffeta
outfit to dancing school at Ballet Art in the Carnegie Hall
building that symbolizes the time her mother would walk her to
the bus and yell at her for wearing perfume and mascara while
forgetting to wash her neck.
In my opinion, the play was good, and I liked it. The
characters relate their wardrobes to their past experiences
throughout their lives.

They asked a lot of questions concerning the show. I told them this was an outdoor show where there was a group of

I also informed them that attending the show was always free. They were happy for me and promised to visit someday so that we can go to the show together as a family. I also uploaded some pictures on Instagram. Instagram is an online photo-sharing, video sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take picture and share them on several social networking services such as Facebook and twitter. Most of my friends were happy to see the pictures and they asked me about the show. I told them all the details about the show and that it was held in Tennessee at TTU University. In my opinion it was a good experience to me since it was all new to both Hussan and me because we had never attended such an event. In the end, I like the show and I would like to go to the show again if there are more scheduled in the future. I also hope that similar show will be introduced in Kuwait so that I can enjoy going to the shows together with my family members.
  • 6. MOHAMMAD ALSEDIQI PATREK I went to a performing arts center on Jan, 28, 2014. That is my second play in USA. The play begun at 7:30pm and it came to an end at 9:30pm. The name of the play was LOVE, LOSS and WHAT I WORE. The subject matter of the play includes women’s relationships with their wardrobes and the interaction between the two. Six women take us on a journey through their past experiences, hearts and closets. A character called Gingy opened the show by sketching various parts of her wardrobe each symbolizing a memory. She told her life story describing three of her marriages, motherhood and the death of a child, each stage marked by a specific cloth. Gingy has a set of simple renderings, beginning with her latest black dress with sleeve, her brownie uniform and finally an accessory her granddaughter recommended. The drawings she made led her into a tour of her own life. She had ugly leggings held up by suspenders that she wore only when she was outside. Gingy wanted a store bought dress because her mother made her clothes that she did not like. After her mother’s death, her father bought her two navy blue dresses for her 13th birthday. After a little while her grandmother came and took Gingy and her sister to stay with her and marks the last time she ever saw her father. This tells us that a teenage girl’s choice of dressing is usually decided by her mother. There always results an argument once the teenager dismisses her mother’s choice of clothing. Gingy remembered the time she was fourteen years old, she wore a black bathing suit when she went to Florida with her grandmother. The bathing suit reminds her of the time when she met a twenty-six year old boy on the Bernie Maybrook beach and he requested her to go for a date with him. Her grandmother allowed her to go on condition that she was present during the date. She remembered when her mother made a forest green wool jersey dress with re cherries for her sister who had a

It also reminded her of the time her sister cut out pictures from movie magazines and taped them to the walls of the bedroom they shared. She is also reminded of the time she had very ugly nails due to her biting them. She is reminded of the time she went with her sister camping as brownies and Girl Scout, there was no electricity and they had to go in outhouse because they had no flushed toilet. The character remembered when she wore a black taffeta outfit to dancing school at Ballet Art in the Carnegie Hall building that symbolizes the time her mother would walk her to the bus and yell at her for wearing perfume and mascara while forgetting to wash her neck. In my opinion, the play was good, and I liked it. The characters relate their wardrobes to their past experiences throughout their lives. Mohammad Alsediqi
