I love to show people how technology can change the way they do things and how it doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated
A Google account will help. Not only does this give you access to all of the fabulous Google features such as Drive, Apps, Keep, gmail, calendar etc – it can often be used to sign up to third-party accounts, lessening the amount of logons and passwords that you need to remember. Google and Android devices play very nicely together so if you have an android phone or tablet everything will be in sync if you use Google.
A Microsoft account will also be useful, access to One Drive, One Note and web apps are they key features here and a must if you are using a Microsoft mobile device.
And of course, if you join the Apple fan club – an apple ID is obviously a great idea.
I am now going to take you through some live demonstrations – showing you some different apps and how they work together and with the programs you are already using.
Throughout my presentation I will be using Reflector 2– an app available on Mac, PC, Android and Amazon Fire. I will be using it to demonstrate apps on my iPad, as well as my Samsung Galaxy s4.
So where do we start?
IFTTT employs the following concepts.
Channels are the "basic building blocks of IFTTT",[21] they mainly describes a series of data from a certain web service such as YouTube or eBay. It can also describe some certain actions controlled with certain APIs like SMS. Sometimes, it can represent information in terms of weather or stocks.[22] There are particular triggers and actions in each channel.[23]
Triggers are the "this" part of a recipe. They are the items that "trigger" the action. For example, from an RSS feed, you can receive a notification based on a keyword or phrase.[6]
Actions are the "that" part of a recipe. They are the output that results from the input of the trigger.
Recipes are the "equations" made from Triggers and Actions. For example, if you like any picture in Instagram (trigger), the photo will be sent to your Dropbox account (action).[21]
Ingredients are basic data made available from a trigger. For example, the data that are available from the email trigger include subject, body, attachment, received date, and the sender’s address.[21]
