1. Genesis 22:1-8
• Some time later, God tested Abraham’s
faith. “Abraham!” God called. “Yes”, he
replied. “Here I am.” “Take your son, your
only son-yes, Isaac, whom you love so
much- and go to the land of Moriah. Go and
sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of
the mountains, which I will show you.” The
next morning Abraham got up early. He
saddled his donkey and took two of his
servants with him, along with his son, Isaac.

• Then he chopped wood for a fire for a
burnt offering and set out for the place
God had told him about. On the third day
of their journey, Abraham looked up and
saw the place in the distance. “Stay here
with the donkey,” Abraham told the
servants. “The boy and I will travel a little
farther. We will worship there, and then
we will come right back.”

• So Abraham placed the wood for the burnt
offering on Isaac’s shoulders, while he himself
carried the fire and the knife. As two of them
walked on together, Isaac turned to Abraham
and said, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham
replied. “We have the fire and the wood,” the
boy said, “but where is the sheep for the
burnt offering?” “God will provide a sheep for
the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham
answered. And they both walked on together.

• Genesis 22:3 The next morning
Abraham got up early. He saddled his
donkey and took two of his servants
with him, along with his son, Isaac.
Then he chopped wood for a fire for a
burnt offering and set out for the place
God had told him about.
• The necessity of new wineskin.

3. Mission made possible.
• Genesis 22:7-8 “We have the fire
and the wood,” the boy said, “but
where is the sheep for the burnt
offering?” “God will provide a
sheep for the burnt offering, my
son,” Abraham answered.
• From sacrifice to devotion.

1. A timeless commitment.
• John 13:31-34 The time has come for
the Son of Man to enter into His glory,
and God will be glorified because of
Him. And since God receives glory
because of the Son, He will soon give
glory to the Son ……. Just as I have
loved you, you should love each other.
• What matter most.

2. Too costly to ignore.
• John 13:34-35 So now I am giving you a
new commandment: Love each other.
Just as I have loved you, you should love
each other. Your love for one another
will prove to the world that you are My
disciples.
• Eternal destiny is at stake.

3. Should outshine all others.
• John 13:36-37 Simon Peter asked, “Lord,
where are You going?” And Jesus replied.
“You can’t go with Me now, but you will
follow Me later.” “But why can’t I come
now, Lord?” he asked. “I ‘m ready to die
for You.” Jesus answered, “Die for Me?
……. you will deny three times that you
know Me.”
• The center of it all.

10. The Call To Serve
1. Exist for a reason.
• Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth.
But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it
be made salty again? It is no longer good for
anything, except to be thrown out…...
• Saved for a purpose.
• Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s
masterpiece. He has created us anew in
Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things
he planned for us …

11. The Call To Serve
2. Beyond us and ours.
• Matthew 5:14-15 You are the light of the world.
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light
to everyone in the house.
• Requires all of God.
• John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who
believes in Me will do the same works I have
done, and even greater works, because I am
going to be with the Father.

3. From being and doing.
• Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your
light shine before others, that they may
see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven.
• God requires all.
• 1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat
or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the
glory of God.

13. For This Cause
1. The greatest need.
• 2 Corinthians 5:11-14 Because we
understand our fearful responsibility to the
Lord, we work hard to persuade others ….
Since we believe that Christ died for all, we
also believe that we have all died to our old
life.
• Our sacred mission.
• John 18:37 (b) For this cause I was born,
and for this cause I have come ….

14. For This Cause
2. The greatest offer.
• 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 anyone who belongs to
Christ has become a new person. The old life
is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this
is a gift from God, who brought us back to
Himself through Christ. And God has given us
this task of reconciling people to Him
• Only we can deliver.
• 2 Corinthians 5:19 And He gave us this
wonderful message of reconciliation.

15. For This Cause
3. The greatest privilege.
• 2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ’s
ambassador; God is making his appeal
through us. We speak for Christ when we
plead, “Come back to God!’
• What glorious assurance.
• Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom
of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added unto you.
