2. Introduction
 Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly
contagious viral illness caused by severe acute respiratory
syndrome SARS-CoV-2.
 Coronaviruses are a group of related RNA viruses that cause
diseases in mammals and birds.
 In humans and birds, they cause respiratory tract
infections that can range from mild to lethal.
 They are called “corona” because of crown-like spikes on the
surface of the virus.
 The virus travels to the back of your nasal passages and

5.  CAUSATIVE AGENTS
 COVID-19 is caused by infection with the severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus
strain.
 The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by a virus,
NOT by bacteria.

6. Transmission
 The disease is mainly transmitted via the respiratory route when
people inhale droplets and small airborne particles (that form
an aerosol) that infected people exhale as they breathe, talk,
cough, sneeze, or sing.
 Infected people are more likely to transmit COVID-19 when they
are physically close. However, infection can occur over longer
distances, particularly indoors.
 he disease can spread from person to person through small
droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person
with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

7. Symptoms
 Most common symptoms:
1.fever
2. cough
3.tiredness
4.loss of taste or smell
 Less common symptoms:
1.sore throat
2.headache
3.aches and pains
4.diarrhoea
5.a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes
6.red or irritated eyes

8.  Serious symptoms:
a.difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
b.loss of speech or mobility, or confusion
c.chest pain.

9. Diagnosis:-

10. Treatment
 Isolate yourself in a well ventilated room.
 Use a triple layer medical mask, discard mask after 8 hours of
use or earlier if they become wet or visibly soiled. In the event
of a caregiver entering the room, both caregiver and patient
may consider using N 95 mask.
 Mask should be discarded only after disinfecting it with 1%
Sodium Hypochlorite.
 Take rest and drink a lot of fluids to maintain adequate
hydration.
 Follow respiratory etiquettes at all times.

11.  Don’t share personal items with other people in the household.
Ensure cleaning of surfaces in the room that are touched often
(tabletops, doorknobs, handles, etc.) with 1% hypochlorite solution.
 Monitor temperature daily.
 Monitor oxygen saturation with a pulse oximeter daily.

12. DRUG TREATEMENT:-
 Paxlovid(Oral Antiviral pill)
 Molnupiravir
 antidepressant fluvoxamine (Luvox),
 While you don't need to stay in bed, you should get plenty of
rest.
 Stay well hydrated.
 To reduce fever and ease aches and pains, take acetaminophen.
 Dexamethasone
 Tocilizumab
 Remdesivir
 Covishield and Covaxin vaccines used to treat corona virus.

13. Prevention Measure
 Maintain a safe distance from others (at least 1 metre), even if
they don’t appear to be sick.
 Wear a mask in public, especially indoors or when physical
distancing is not possible.
 Choose open, well-ventilated spaces over closed ones. Open a
window if indoors.
 Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-
based hand rub.
 Get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Follow local guidance about
vaccination.
