TAKE LESSON FROM HIGH SEASON PASTRY AND BAKERY INDUSTRY
FOR PRINTING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
This article is a story of an experience when I helped a large pastry and bakery company in a city in East
Java, as a B2B sales & marketing consultant. While able to attribute expertise and experience, a valuable
lesson is obtained, namely how a company can utilize certain moments to be a very significant source of
income for the growth of its business. The company's revenue at certain moments can contribute around
50% of the company's annual income.
These moments are the Eid Al-Fitr Day (Eid), Christmas Day which is usually used as a
moment with the New Year and the Lunar New Year Day (Imlek), which in Indonesia these
religious holidays are usually celebrated so large that the circulation big money too. Aside from
the three feasts, the moment of the Republic of Indonesia's independence anniversary can also
boost the turnover of the printing business sales. On the other hand, regular annual events are
usually celebrated by an institution both a company, educational institutions and other
institutions.
THE MOMENTS
It has become a routine for the people of Indonesia to celebrate the holiday by giving each other
greetings, which are usually accompanied by giving each other gifts. This is not only personal,
but also the company / corporation.
One of the most used items as fillers is food and beverages, so many pastry and bakery
companies compete and specifically prepare programs that are very varied as an attraction for
the market to offer. On the other hand, food and beverage manufacturers provide special
packages like gifts.
All these commodities certainly need printed goods in
the form of packaging and greeting cards that usually
have a shape and design that specifically adjusts the
moments that will be celebrated. This is a business
opportunity for printing, where they are not only selling
packaging and greeting cards, but also can offer
special and unique design and design services to offer
1. Eid Al-Fitr
During the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations, in
addition to sending gifts to each
other, Indonesian Muslims also have
a culture of giving some money that
is put into envelopes and given to
relatives, especially children, but
sometimes also gives parents the
love.
Given that the Eid al-Fitr is
celebrated by the majority of the
Indonesian people, the commodity
of printed material can be a source
of considerable income for the
printing business and is very
interesting and challenging.
2. X'mas Day and New Year
The celebration of Christmas and
New Year's Day in Indonesia is a big
moment too because besides the
celebration of Christmas Day by
Christians, this moment is
inseparable from the new year's
moment celebrated by all circles in
Indonesia, making this moment the
right time to achieve more sales big
compared to ordinary days.
As with the celebration of the Eid Al-
Fitr festivities, a culture of giving
gifts to each other is also valid in
this moment and is also a good time
to achieve greater sales compared
to ordinary days.
3. Lunar New Year (Imlek)
The Chinesse Lunar New Year
(Imlek) celebration is also
celebrated lively and can not be
separated from the tradition of giving

One tradition that is unique at this
moment is the distribution of
Angpao, where money is loaded into
these Angpao may not contain the
number four because according to
their belief this number brings bad
luck, and the amount may not be
odd because it deals with funerals.

This anniversary of independence is
usually filled with various
competitions, to appreciate the
struggle of the heroes to make the
Indonesian state an independent
country, in addition to the
commemoration of the anniversary
of independence in many
government agencies and schools.

Many companies in Indonesia
celebrate the anniversary of the
founding of the company by
providing gifts and souvenirs for
both their own employees and
invited guests. Gifts and souvenirs
with a corporate identity, widely
used in this moment, make this
moment quite potential for the sale
of printed goods.
6. University Graduation
Every university always holds graduation
activities for graduates by inviting
graduates' parents. Graduation
organizers usually provide snacks for the
invitations by entering into goody, which
is accompanied by gifts for graduates.
Indonesia is one of the countries that has
the most universities, namely 3,716, and
the highest in the ASEAN countries. If
every graduation is usually one to two
times per year in the number of
thousands of graduates, this moment
becomes a very interesting opportunity
for printing business.
