10. The Solar Industry offers several investment opportunities
INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Joint ventures
Numerous companies have entered into JVs with leading global PV manufacturer
There are no specific conditions laid down by MNES for the formation of joint ventures
Export oriented units
It is possible to setup a manufacturing plant as a 100% EOU
Generally they are permitted duty-free import of raw materials and components
They are also eligible to sell up to 20% of their production to domestic market
Technology transfer: Indian PV industry is seeking technology for the
manufacturing of PV modules especially based on their film materials and is
able to offer technology for the manufacturing of silicon solar cells, PV modules
and PV segments
Technology development: R&D projects are supported by the government at
central / state government research organizations, autonomous societies,
universities, recognized colleges, IIT’s, industries (with suitable infrastructure for
R&D) and NGOs
