In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, which are
houses that loathe each other in Verona, Italy. Romeo and Juliet believe they have fallen in love
in a few hours and they are married by Friar Lawrence. Soon after, Romeo is in a fight and slays
Tybalt, and is banished to Mantua. Juliet's parents don't know about her wedding so they plan she
will marry Paris, but to fix the situation, she begs for a potion from Friar Lawrence which makes
her seem dead, so she is taken into a tomb. Romeo believes she is dead, and he kills Paris and then

Psychological Analysis Of Romeo And Juliet
The story of Romeo and Juliet starts like a comedy about two families who hate each other, but it
changes to a deeper story when Juliet makes her first appearing. From the beginning of the play her
scenes are the polemical ones, we see in her a girl who thinks by herself, she analyzes the situations
deeply, she means what she says and more important, she measures the consequences of her actions.
If we evaluate the psychological characteristics of this girl from the point of view of the century
where she lived, she seems different to the other girls, and, not going that far in time, her courageous

This is a sign that Juliet is impatient and desperate, because she wants to get married as soon as
possible to Romeo. Also, Juliet starts the conversation about getting married, which implies that
she is desperate to do so. Another time Juliet displays her impatience and desperation is when
she's waiting for the Nurse to come back to hear the information on the wedding with Romeo.
Juliet says, "I sent the nurse at nine o'clock. Maybe she couldn't find him. Oh, she's slow! ... Now

I have chosen to write on the character Romeo. Romeo reacts with his heart. He does not stop to
think about the ramification will be from his actions. He is a lover and not a fighter. A prime
example of this is when Romeo climbs the orchard's wall, so he can see Juliet. "Can I go forward

In this essay, I will present a variation of ways in which Shakespeare presents Romeo and Juliet's
first meeting a classic case of 'love at first sight'. In the play so far, Romeo has attended the
Capulet's party in search of Rosaline– Romeo's previous 'love'. Instead he finds himself falling for
Capulet's daughter, Juliet. In turn Juliet discovers Romeo and they have their first encounter. In the
extract given, it shows the first conversation between the soon–to–be star– crossed lovers. In this
extract, Shakespeare presents Romeo and Juliet taking their love as seriously as religion. Romeo
executes an extended metaphor comparing himself as a 'holy shrine' and Juliet as a 'saint'. This
metaphor suggests that– considering he has only met Juliet– he regards his feelings for her as serious
as religion. By comparing himself to a 'shrine', he is prepared to worship Juliet, the 'saint'. In the 16th
century, shrines were valued in worshipping biblical figures, it showed love and devotion towards
the figure in question, such as a saint. This represents the love and devotion Romeo is prepared to
bestow ono Juliet. The majority, if not all of the Elizabethan audience would be Christian and would
therefore notice that their love was as serious as religion was to them. Furthermore, Shakespeare
presents this extract in sonnet form, sonnet's were poems usually associated with love and romance.
In the extract Romeo and Juliet share the sonnet together when they first meet. This implies that their
love is real, as they have momentarily met and Romeo is already asking Juliet to 'smooth that rough
touch with a tender kiss', which she replies with by asking 'which mannerly devotion shows in this'.
This rhyming couplet represents the connection the pair have and how Shakespeare intended their
lines to sync together, foreshadowing their love. This rhyme shows true love as it illustrates the
instant connection Romeo and Juliet have from their first meeting. The Elizabethan audience would
have believed in 'love at first sight', meaning they would have thought that Romeo and Juliet's shared
