We've looked at minerals and the definition of minerals and found that most minerals are known as Silicates. That means they have silica in the chemical formula, agates are silica dioxide with a few impurities to give the agate nice colors. Now lets make a long list of non-silicate minerals. I'm talking about the oxides, the carbonates, the sulfates, the chlorides, the halides, the phosphates, and the sulfides. That gives us seven lists of minerals you'll need to compile and Post in the form of a table with your sources and the textbook pages listed. Just for fun: Take a close look at our banded agate, basically quartz or silica dioxide, but it is not in the oxide list as it should be. How can that be possible, oxides are defined as having a negatively charged anion don't they? Guess there is more to it, your comments please..
