2. Meeting with Ms. Rupa Dutta, IES, Principal Adviser, DPIIT, Office of
the Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce & Industry – 06 June
2022
AMCHAM made a representation on June 6th to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MOCI),
Ministry Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and Invest India regarding the WTO
Customs Duty Moratorium on Electronic Transmissions on behalf of its members, who were
deeply concerned that the Indian Government was planning to oppose the renewal of the
moratorium at the upcoming Ministerial Conference of the WTO from June 12th-15th 2022.
3. Global Innovation Alliance Press Conference hosted by the
Government of Karnataka – 08 June 2022
AMCHAM’s Karnataka Chapter was invited to the
Global Innovation Alliance Press Conference
hosted by the Government of Karnataka on June
8th. The Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) will be
celebrating its 25th year in 2022. The theme for
the BTS 2022 will be Tech4NexGen. The
Department of Electronics, Information
Technology, Biotechnology and Science &
Technology organized the BTS Global Innovation
Alliance Press Conference to highlight
international participation in the Summit.
4. Karnataka Chapter Executive Committee Meeting – 10 June 2022
AMCHAM’s Karnataka Chapter Executive Committee held a meeting on Friday June 10th, virtually,
to discuss important Chapter related matters like membership development, upcoming events the
state government and U.S. Consulate engagement. The Executive Committee was briefed about the
NextGen Leadership Program 2022-23 and asked for their feedback on the American League.
5. Electronics Manufacturing Committee Meeting – 10 June 2022
Electronics Manufacturing Committee meeting was held on June 10th under the leadership of Mr.
Naveen Tandon, Co-Chairman – Electronics Manufacturing Committee, AMCHAM India and Head-
Policy and Strategy, Apple India. Mr. Tandon welcomed all participants and gave opening remarks.
Ms. Ann Mason, Trade and Technology Unit Chief, U.S. Embassy, attended the meeting. SEZ, circular
economy, e-waste management, EoDB.
6. Annual Door Knock to Washington DC 2022 – 12-17 June 2022
The annual AMCHAM India door knock
delegation to Washington DC was led by
AMCHAM’s Chairman, Mr. Atul Dhawan,
Chairperson, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
India LLP from June 12th– 17th, 2022. The
main purpose of the door knock was to
inform and sensitize U.S. policy-makers on
issues impacting U.S. investments in India.
The delegation interacted with many of
the important players in the economic
relationship and other key decision-
makers.
7. Roundtable with U.S. Embassy on CERT-In Guidelines and India’s
Digital Policies – 14 June 2022
On June 14th, AMCHAM members interacted with Mr. Drew Schufletowski, Honorary National
Executive Board Member, AMCHAM and Minister Counselor for Economic, Environment, Science,
and Technology, U.S. Embassy, regarding CERT-In Guidelines, India’s digital policies and action plan
and next steps for the U.S.-India ICT Working Group. Ms. Ann Mason, Trade and Technology Unit
Chief, Economic, Energy, Science, and Technology Section, U.S. Embassy, moderated the session.
8. Global Capability Centers (GCC) Committee Meeting – 15 June
2022
The first meeting of the Global Capability
Centers (GCC) Committee was held virtually on
June 15th with 18 members present. Mr.
Prakash Bodla, Chairman – Hyderabad Chapter,
AMCHAM, Chairman – GCC Committee,
AMCHAM and MD & VP Engineering Carrier
Corporation kicked off the meeting with a brief
introduction of the new committee.
