The term empowerment has a wide variety of
meanings and interpretations. In the banking
and commercial sector, empowerment refers
to the process used by top management that
involves sharing information, rewards and
power with employees. This process will allow
employees to take initiatives in the workplace
by making decisions, solving daily challenges
and improving services and performance that
leads to the overall success of the business
In recent years, women involvement in the
workforce and the number of newly graduated
women is noticeably increasing around the
globe and in Kuwait specifically. This growth
of freshly graduated women should be more
recognized in the nation workforce. The
concept of empowerment serves a crucial
role in achieving this objective. Both genders
should equally participate in the development
and growth of their own nations by promoting
the concept of women enforcement.
Women enforcement is mainly engaging
educated and motivational women in the
overall economic and industry development of
the country.
Economic benefits of women empowerment
Women comprise a significant part of the
nation’s workforce. The idea of eliminating
women’s workforce on the sole basis of gender
might have a significant impact on the overall
economic growth. In recent years, women play
a powerful and successful role in managing

banks and major public companies. Recently in
Kuwait, women have been more appreciated by
public through their involvement in managing
business sectors and working side by side with
males in success and development of their
country.
Cultural barriers of women empowerment
Cultural beliefs and views are the main
restrictions to women’s involvement in the
nation’s workforce.
In Middle East region, women are sometimes
being treated as inferior to men. The gap that
was created limits the potential benefits that
can be rewarded by employing women.
Women face many cultural challenges in taking
leadership positions. Those challenges are
driven by the cultural awareness that is built for
ladies role in the society of managing families
and concentrate more on home rather than
building their own careers and creating their
own value in the society. Women workforce
fear the idea of becoming successful and having
influential roles in their countries because of
the society’s negative perspective.
Women workforce in Kuwait
In the past decade, Kuwait society’s perspective
towards women has changed dramatically.
Kuwaiti women play a major role in all aspects
of the country.
The cultural perspective moved towards
employing and educating women. The concept
shifts was noticeable in all governmental,
public and private sectors in the state of
Kuwait.
Women are more involved in the political,
management and social community roles.
Kuwaiti women are part of the parliament
voting process. Political women are now able to
run their own campaigns and become members
of the Kuwaiti parliament.

“Having more empowered women, it merely
means the world has more individuals who
can develop it. Rather than having men
competing with women, men and women will
be competing with other men and women. The
