1. Women are key drivers of economic growth
The Women’s Entrepreneurs Centre (WEC) is a non-profit membership-based center
that was founded by a pioneer group of female business leaders in Gaza. Established
in 2015 under the auspices of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry, WEC aims
to represent and support aspiring women entrepreneurs (who started a business) with
skills, opportunities and inspiration they need to become key drivers of economic
growth.

Training and capabilities development: Developing and delivering innovative programs to promote
entrepreneurship and economic growth through training.
Technical Assistance: Developing and delivering a comprehensive roster of technical business services in
core value chain areas and facilitation linkages with existing sector specific incubators.
Coaching and mentorship: Providing coaching and mentoring services that focus on value chain challenges
facing women entrepreneurs to create accelerating results and advice innovative solutions.
Access to information: Collecting, analyzing and disseminating economic and business valuable information
to help women entrepreneurs orient themselves about business opportunities and facilitate business
matchmaking.
Access to resources: Facilitating linkages between women entrepreneurs and financing entities nationally,
regionally and internationally to access finance and financial services.
Access to markets: Facilitating the participation of women entrepreneurs in national, regional and
international markets through participation conferences, trade fairs and trade missions.
WEC Membership
As a membership driven center, WEC’s most important asset is its membership base. WEC has the following
three membership categories:
Full Members: Granted to women entrepreneurs who own/co-own a formally registered private businesses
and are on-top of their work. Members of this category are entitled to full membership privileges and have
the right to vote and run for WEC board of directors.
Associate Members: Granted to women who manage/ co-manage or own shares in a formally registered
private businesses and are not necessarily on-top of their work. Members of this category are entitled to
certain membership privileges and can neither vote nor run for WEC board of directors
Honorary Members: Granted to prominent women, men and entities championing and actively contributing
to women’s economic and business rights.
